Alan Wake 2

So ps+ came out so just picked up Alan Wake 2

Just went down to the lake and found the body. Met the witnesses and the waitresses said that my daughter died although I just talked to her

So the writing is rather cheesy if I say guess that's by design. Bit too early to call it though as not much had happened although I do like the idea of the mind cases ATM. It's easy ATM but I hope they actually make it a series of puzzles

Well this is a change. I completed alot of games this month... even though I was on holiday

2nd September - Fallout: New Vegas - Lonesome Road - 5h 54m 38s
4th September - Fallout: New Vegas (Including DLC) - 89h 1m 35s
13th September - Bit. Trip Core - 2h 32s
15th September - Bit. Trip Flux - 1h 40m 20s
17th September - Bit. Trip Void - 55m 29s
17th September - Bit. Trip Sage - 9h 34m 28s
24th September - Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel (Including DLC) - 27h 7m 32s
27th September - Borderlands: The Handsome Collection - 92h 46m 33s
27th September - Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel! - Claptastic Voyage - 7h 10m 55s
27th September - Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 - 59h 57m 52s

Ranking:
10th - Bit. Trip Void - Just doesn't feel right for the Bit. Trip games it lacks the speed and intensity of the other Bit. Trip games
9th - Bit. Trip Flux - More of Bit. Trip Beat. Played on the switch and the gyroscope controls were fiddly and hampered the game
8th - Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel! - Claptastic Voyage - A filler DLC for a filler game
7th - Borderlands: The-Pre-Sequel! - A filler game with too much backtracking. Still has the strong borderlands 2 style and is more consistent then the original game
6th - Bit. Trip Core - One of the better options in the Bit. Trip series. An new take on the hit the bits to the beat with the centre be the location to contend with but still can be frustrating and the bits can bend and break rules making the levels try and error. Levels are also too long
5th - Bit. Trip Saga - A decent collection of Bit. Trip games. Runner being the strongest and Fate being the weakest. Games all are rather frustrating to play and the levels go on too long for most of the games
4th - Fallout: New Vegas - Lonesome Road - A rather linear DLC for an open world game but it does it with a strong Antagonist and a interesting story and area. It delves into a lonely journey and really pushes that feeling
3rd - Borderlands: The Handsome Collection - Collection is held up by Borderlands 2 which is an excellent Looter shooter. The pre-sequel is just filler and rather meh
2nd - Fallout: New Vegas - A fantastic RPG with a well built open world and excellent story with multiple factions done in morally grey setting. Game crashed alot though
1st - Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 - A brilliant made RPG which keeps you invested throughout with it's world created world and compelling characters

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Completion September 27th, 2025
Completionist 59h 57m 52s
Notes All Achievements but Aiding the enemy did not trigger
Review
+Excellent variety of characters with there own unique set of moves and style of attacks to be used in the gameplay
+A vibrant and unique world with lots of secrets to find
+A great and stylistic RPG which keeps you on your toes with it’s parry and doge system
-Platforming in the game while limited is not suited for this game
-Act 3 has some balancing issues
-A bug in the Aiding the enemy preventing me from getting all achievements
Review
Clair Obscur Expedition 33 is a beautifully created RPG which builds onto the standard turn based RPG to make for a compelling built system. It does this by including a parry and dodge system with the dodge system acting as an easier move but does not offer a counter attack that the parry does. There are 6 characters overall in the game and each has there own unique set of moves and systems that gel well with each other to make for a series of interesting of combinations. This is done within an interesting and unique world with some different takes on the standard biomes. The only real issue is the balancing issues in the third act and platforming in the game being award but not often. This is a game that I fully recommend for anyone to try.

Well i'm, not gonna 100% by the end of the month beat the game at least and now just beat the Frozen Hearts. Onto the next extra area
01/09/2025 21:01
Did what I thought was the last Nveron quest. Looks like I've missed one
01/09/2025 23:03
so missed the one at the start but still no achievements. Not sure. I might have to go to all of them again. Just doing the Dark Gestral Arena atm though
02/09/2025 23:03
Finished the Dark Gestral Arena now moved onto the Endless tower. Got all the feet for Monoco and have reached Stage 5 Trial 3 of the endless tower
24/09/2025 17:09
well back from my holiday and been busy. Beat the snake and the chromatic Petank as well as upgraded fully a weapon. Slowly making my way through the achievements
25/09/2025 17:10
so beat clea nad solved the Painting workshop mystery. Doing the endless tower atm and currently on Trial 11 Stage 1
25/09/2025 17:18
well I'll try tomorrow now. Got the collectable quests to do as well and tyhen finally the last boss
26/09/2025 17:03
so finished the tower. the last trial too me a while. I have now got all the songs. Just one last record. I just need to get to level 99 and beat Simon now. I have beat all the Nevron quests but the achievement has not popped yet so not certain what i'm missing or if it's a bug
27/09/2025 22:24
And that is me now done with Clair Obscur. Man was simon a bitch to deal with especially his speed of light move. Used the breaking dead cheat to beat him in the end (thankful for how powerful mealle can get as well). Still ultimately Clair Obscur is a fantatsic game and def a GotY contender. Full 10 and i'll write up a review for it hopefully tomorrow

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel!
Completion September 24th, 2025
Main+Extras (includes DLC) 27h 7m 32s
Notes Mostly Co-Op. DLC played solo
Co-Op 19h 56m 37s
Review
Borderlands the Pre Sequel is a filler game meant to fill in between 2 and 3. It offers little substance and is far to reliant on backtracking for it’s sub quests. It still makes use of the borderlands formula and continues to have fun with the formula but it cannot get around the fact that it is not fully irrelevant to the whole borderlands series and can easily be skipped
6/10

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel! - Claptastic Voyage
Completion September 27th, 2025

Claptastic Voyage is a simple continuation of the pre-sequel it offers nothing new and has the same issues as the base game with too much backtracking and an irrelevant story for the whole of the borderlands series. A filler DLC for a filler gameplay

So have come back to do the DLC solo:

Reached the item and downloaded the first half. But it got sent to quarantine. Now just got to open quarantine

Not much different from the base tbh. Can't say iot's anything special just filler really
26/09/2025 02:08
...well I feel asleep playing today. Did a few side missions basically
26/09/2025 23:02
Looks like I've reached the final boss. Just gotta get back to it. Should hopefully be done by tomorrow
27/09/2025 22:06
and that's the DLC done. A rather mediocre filler DLC for a mediocre filler game

Bit.Trip Core
Completion September 13th, 2025
Main Story 2h 32s
Notes All 3 levels easy
Review
+Interesting take on the bit trip games
+Simple controls and easy to get into
+Some catchy songs
-Only 3 levels
-Levels are long without any checkpoints
-Relies too much on trial and error
Review:
Bit trip core has you playing as a cross in the centre where you must hit bits from the 4 directions in the centre of the stage. Its an interesting take on the bit trip series and one of the strong ones. It however has the same issues as the other bit trip series with being rather short and relining on long levels with no checkpoints and trial and error game play where rules established are broken on a whim.
7/10

Bit. Trip Flux
Completion September 15th, 2025
Main Story 1h 40m 20s
Review
+Has checkpoints unlike other Bit trip games.
+Continuation of the Bit.Trip beat game
-Only 3 levels
-Reliant of gyroscope controls which are fiddly (standard control s are not fast enough)
Review:
Bit Trip Flux is basically more Bit.Trip Beat where you play a rhythm version of pong and hit bits back against the rhythm. Not bad and this game at least has checkpoints compared to other Bit.Trip games however the gyroscope controls are fiddly and the main issue of the game as standard controls are not fast enough to reach each side of the screen.
6/10

Bit. Trip Void
Completion September 17th, 2025
Main+Extras 55m 29s
Review
+different take on the bit.trip series
+Checkpoints in the game
-Lacking the feel of the other bit.trip series
-Does not have the intensity that the other bit.trip games have and comes off as uninteresting
Review:
Bit.Trip void changes a bit too much in the feeling of the Bit.Trip series. While it is possible to get through very quickly it is not as fun as the others. You play an orb which grows with each black bit eaten and goes smaller each white bit hit. It is fairly simple but missing the speed of the other games and just feel tepid in the end.
5/10

Fallout New Vegas
Completion September 4th, 2025
Main+Extras (Includes DLC) 89h 1m 35s
Notes NCR Ending
Review
+Brilliantly designed open world which allows you top go anywhere but soft locks you to go the specific path
+Fantastic mix of factions and characters with morally grey ideologies
+Great skills and weapons abound
-Fallout New Vegas is constantly crashing
-The inventory is a mess and hard to navigate
-There is no quick select for the health packs or weapons
Review:
Fallout New Vegas is an expansive and well built shooter RPG. It’s world is built extremely well with landmarks scattered throughout the world that filter people to those locations but also does it with multiple different ways with multiple quests reaching the more interesting locations (such as the 4 vaults in the game). Ultimately New vegas falls back on it’s excellent writing with a mixture of interesting factions each with there pros and cons and locations such as the different vaults and the strip itself. It has a lot to go for it and builds upon itself to make you want to continue the game. The game is not perfect though as I constantly got crashes when playing the game which hinder progress and the inventory was a completer mess with no real way of filtering items expected for the very minimum filters they currently have in game and there is no quick access to health items or weapons. Ultimately New Vegas is a flaw3ed shooter wrapped in a package of an excellent world and story that compels you to move forward
9/10

Fallout: New Vegas - Dead Money DLC
Completion July 21st, 2025
Main+Extras 7h
Review
An interesting take on a bank heist with some really well written characters. This is one of the more compelling DLCs for New Vegas with the whole premise and the characters within it. The main issue is that the DLC is built for stealth and so playing outside of a stealth build is a pain in the arse especially being unkillable enemies unless you cut off a limb. It makes the DLC tedious to play as a normal shooter. Still the characters are very compelling and worth going through to the end
7/10

Fallout: New Vegas - Honest Hearts DLC
Completion July 25th, 2025
Main+Extras 3h
Review
The DLC is built around the burnt man a mysterious character from caesar’s legion and who make for a compelling character however the DLC is half baked and needed more time to really flesh out the burnt mans character and the challenges he and the his new tribe are facing
6/10

Fallout: New Vegas - Old World Blues
Completion August 25th, 2025
Main+Extras 8h 32m 7s
Review
An annoying and repetitive DLC which relies far too much on poor humour and annoying fetch quests to make it of any interests. It does however have some of the best and most interesting weapons in the game
5/10

Fallout: New Vegas - Lonesome Road
Completion September 2nd, 2025
Main+Extras 5h 54m 38s
Review
Lonesome road is one of the loneliest parts of the fallout new vegas games and it is built that way with only 2 npcs to talk to (EDE and Ulysses) but it creates a full compelling if linear little story within the world of fallout new vegas with Ulysses acting as one of the most compelling antagonists in the game and how his story overlaps with the couriers backstory. This is the strongest DLCs for New vegas and very much worth a playthrough

Bit. Trip Void
16/09/2025 15:03
So this one is about picking up black spots which grows your Void and avoiding white spots which resets your size. You need to reset your size at multiple spots. It's a rather dull one imo and rather uninteresting compared to other bit trip games. For some reason they have changed the way information is given and it's lacking due to that I'm not entirely sure why they changed what information is presented to you. Might be cause they wanted the full screen for the size the void can get
17/09/2025 09:05
And that's the last bit.trip game. Yeah I wasn't a big fan of this one. Rather dull compared to others and changed how information is shown to the user. Again try and review once I return from my holiday anyway ranking I guess

Time for the next Bit.Trip game. Bit.Trip Flux
14/09/2025 00:53
Okay so flux is just beat ATM I have beat the first level but see further on. This game at least has checkpoints which is nice. The gyrosphere controls work well if a bit loose. Using them as I feel using the pad is too slow for the bits
14/09/2025 15:24
Through the second level. Gyrosphere is too fiddly though
15/09/2025 15:40
And that's the game done. Glad this one had checkpoints the gyrosphere was uncomfortable to use and standard controls didn't give enough leeway to be useful. More bit trip beat basically I guess not bad but nothing to write home about

Bit. Trip Core
06/09/2025 01:56
So it looks like there's only three levels for this game. I was able to beat the first level. I will say I enjoyed it more then fate as this more like a rhythm game then the shooter that fate was. The thing though is the levels are hard as it had a tendency to place the cubes on the furthest edges of the screen and makes them easily missable. The levels are also too long and they should be split. They already have sections so I don't see why the game needs you to play the level all in one go
06/09/2025 01:58
The first level took 15 mins to beat (not including failures)
07/09/2025 14:13
Right tried the second level again and yeah can see where the pow scores from. It keeps changing the rules of each of the bit to make things harder and feels hard for the sake of being hard not a great gabe design.
13/09/2025 01:49
And so beat the second level and third and beat the game. Yeah enjoyed it over bit trip fate. It feels cheap at times especially the second level boss and the levels should've been split but I can't I didn't enjoy playing this one. Again still o. Holiday so will write up a review later

Completed the final DLC now Convinced Ulysses to stand down and fought off the marked men. ED-E scarificed himself to stop the nucleur lauches. With that I am almost ready for the End game. I'm just doing the Sunset caps quest. I only require 4 more caps.

In terms of the DLC I enjoyed it the most it is the most of the DLCs. Ulysses comes across foreboding throughout the DLC and it's always opffering more each time you discuss with him. In the end the is probably one of the best antagonists of the series. The DLC is very lonely as the only characters in the area you interact with (excluding shooting ofc) are ulysses and ED-E but it works for the area. The DLC is very much a linear trek with only one option area opening up mid DLC but the main reasons to continue is Ulysses and he is one of the most realised characters in New Vegas

Finished the sunset caprilla quest as well as Vault 17 (I blew up the sulfur mine) geuss theres nothing left to do expect for hoover dam now
04/09/2025 20:40
And that is FNV done. Went for the NCR ending. Overall I reeally enjoyed this game it was extremly well designed and there was no perfect faction. Each had there pros and cons and they were on display throughout. The story was very grey and it work really well and it pushed you easily to different locations in the game with multiple paths to location it wants you to see. It also soft locks you from the harder areas and convinces you to take the long route to get an idea of the world. It is however not perfect I contanstly was dealing with the game crashingf on mme and losing progress. The inventory was also very clunky and hard to navigate it is especially when trying to change guns with the game completly stopping and it not directly opening when you ask the inventory to. Still this is a solid 9 for me. I'm about to go on holiday so I will have to write the review once I'm back

Spent the level acquiring more upgrades for the AI... yeah this is getting absurd now
30/07/2025 22:05
Collect all the ai upgrades I could and then went to experiment 8 killed Gabe need to rerun the test though
31/07/2025 18:59
Good god that was way too many reruns of that level had to it 4 times in the end. The repition of these quests is grating. Still think i've done everything now to do with old world blues just got the last quest to finish
25/08/2025 22:06
Right back to Fallout New Vegas as my main game:

So I beat the Old World Blues DLC and yeah I wasn't a big fan of it. Too much fetch quests it had some unique weapons and NPCs but it's humour didn't really land and over stayed it's welcome.

I have now moved onto the final DLC Lonesome road:

Ulysses has contacted me and told me to get a laser detonator if I wish to advance

So far this DLC is off to a great start Ulysses is a real forbodding character whoi seems to have contempt for all factions. I now 100% on his motivations but he is conpelling me to continue. DLC is much more Linear then the previous DLCs and the marked men are an interresting take on the ghouls and how the factions have melded within the divide as it tears everyone apart within it. Will see what else this DLC has to offer but I feel this is going to be a linear path with very little in the ay of side quests
26/08/2025 23:01
Got through the collapsed tunnel and onto the high road. Ulysses has contacted me and still being vague mentioned this a road I once travelled. Interesting how they have given ED-E more of a personality in the DLC
27/08/2025 22:10
Reached the end of the high road And set off a nuke opening up the courier mile. How many irridated deathclaws does an area require?
28/08/2025 23:16
Got through the silo. Ulysses told me a inadvertently brought a package which awakened the nukes under the divide causing them set off and turning the divide into what it is now. He was previously part of the legion until the divide and now seems to seeking more from the courier. I'm still not sure about his motivations as he seems to want to express more then just revenge. Made some progress through the canyon on the other side but the game crashed and I lost a lot of progress annoyingly
01/09/2025 22:16
So Ulysses revealed his motivations. He intends to fire a nuke at the NCR and me bringing ED-E close to him means he can use the robot to fire it. ED-E has now left my party. I Have now reached ulysses temple so I think i'm close to the end

I'm in this weird limbo area where I've got 3 games basically completed (either end game or reached the end) but want to continue playing before clearing (either completing there DLC or the post game content). Well in general only one game this month:

25th August - Fallout: New Vegas - Old World Blues - 8h 32m 7s

Ranking:
1st - Fallout: New Vegas - Old World Blues - The weakest New Vegas DLC so far it relies too much on humor and talks to mmuch and all the quests result in only fetch quests. It does have some fun weapons though

Psychonauts
Completion January 29th, 2022
Main+Extras 13h 12m 36s
Review
+Unique levels with there own different spins on a platformer level
+Fun and quirky little humour sprinkled throughout the game
+Levels give great details of the characters they are based on
-At times you can end up fighting the camera
-Controls can feel rather stilted in this age
-Some levels are more frustrating then fun to play
Overview: Psychonauts is a fun and wacky platformer about delving into peoples minds. Each of these minds has a unique setting but also unique spin of the level (i.e. having a race in the level or the level taking part on a single cube) which keeps the game fresh but doesn’t go overboard to make the game feel like mess of ideas. It is really only held back by some more frustrating level choices (escort mission) and having to fight the camera and the controls feeling relatively stilted to today.
9/10
