That's... a good question. I honestly didn't think that through since the rank system is new this year. It would feel a little weird if Platinum could be complete without all challenges so let's just say completing all the bonuses wins you a free compliment from yours truly. Next year we can figure out an actual solution.

I think you missed the thrust of my question because it affects platinum and the lower trophies differently. No way I'm hitting 50/50 + bonuses for platinum, so my question was whether one of those bonus categories could count towards my 20 for bronze or 35 for silver. Sorry if I was clear as mud.

5 Yrs♥✓#
Oh well in that case yes, it'll count towards silver and bronze.

Now I'm jealous... where is my free compliment??? jk lol
In all seriousness, I had understood Platinum as being Main+Optionals+Bonuses, since that's what makes sense. However in the original post it doesn't mention the bonuses counting and I guess they *are* bonuses.

I tackled 4 more games in August and have earned the bronze for this challenge with 21/20 games. Even if I don't count the two bonus categories from this month that would leave me with just one more completion to get over the hump for the challenge. I'm happy with where I ended up though, and since I'm not going to take the measures I would need to in order to get up to 35 completions for the silver, I'm just going to call it here and make this my final update. Thanks to all who organized and participated!

I completed 2 games for the challenge in August. It would've been 1 but I just managed to get through Clair Obscur, which fits really well in one of the categories.
26. A sequel that's more famous than the original - Final Fantasy VII
29. A game with an interesting hook - Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
My list is a lot more solid now, there's only 4 that I'm unsure about. I still need a time sink game. Okami for folklore/mythology, Metroid Prime 4 for development hell which probably won't release until very late this year, and Lollipop Chainsaw for a zombie game. I have no clue what else I'd play for the folklore/mythology. If Metroid Prime 4 releases too late in the year I'll just apply Silksong to the development hell category. And for a zombie game, Lollipop Chainsaw hasn't gone on any great sales. I may grab it at some point, otherwise I'll just find a random zombie game in my library.
In September I'll be finishing Hollow Knight for 39, Venba for 50, and if I end up getting it probably Silksong for 38.

I completed 2 games for the challenge in September, slowly working my way to finishing all of them.
22. A game heavily featuring zombies - Resident Evil
39. A game where the characters speak a language you don't understand - Hollow Knight
Resident Evil was a decent experience, it's a cool game that hasn't aged the greatest. Hollow Knight was alright, I had some fun with it but it's nowhere near a perfect game in my opinion.
I was planning on maybe playing Silksong for a game that made it out of development hell, but honestly it doesn't sound fun to me so I won't be playing it. Instead I'll be playing Metroid Prime 4, which did get a release date, in December which is sub-optimal. It may end up being the last game I finish for the challenge. I started Final Fantasy X/X-2, which should hopefully finally fulfill the 50+ hours game. I just came up with a game for the folklore challenge as well, Resident Evil Village apparently draws from a lot of folklore.

Also, sorry for the double post but I've got a question. It was brought to my attention that for 12-2, "A game adapted into another medium", my entry is sort of incorrect, because it was Vanilla P5 that got a stage play and not P5 Royal. What do you guys think? Do I need to replace it with something else or is it fine? I'd argue that it is since P5R technically also contains P5.

I would say it counts, since P5R is just a remaster of P5 with some extra content tacked on.

Only 4 new additions and 2 of them were some of the easier ones. At least I was finally able to knock out 41, it was by sheer accident. But now we're in the final 10 (plus 3 bonus). Since we're so close, I don't think I'll actually start playing games specifically for this until December. I'm only going to be finishing 13-1 this month with Prey (unless one of the games has a shitty plot twist).
