0 and 2 don't have as many generations as this one did.
My question is did the five generation storyline for this one impact the choice in making 0 and 2 have only 3 and 2 generations in the qames respectively?
Or was it just for greed.
I would like for there to be a 3 some time in the near future.

Probably. Having five generations on top of the rather (in my opinion) obtuse/bleh battle system did not do the game any favors. I never beat the game (actually I never got beyond the first generation) and even the bit I played felt like a chore. I watched someone get to the third or fourth generation and it all just felt like too much.
The other games shortening the generations you go through probably helps a lot. Also, I think Zero has a 'digest' version of the first game, so that sorta gives me, personally, no reason to try such a long game again.

I agree with Gaiages for the most part, I have tried several times to get into it, but it has felt like a chore and knowing how many generations...it just sits there staring at me...maybe someday.

As someone working through this game. Yes, absolutely. I love the designs for many of these characters. And some of their personalities are pretty entertaining. Thoma from third gen I found annoying as hell at first but came to love him a fair bit. Ladeus of the second gen is just cool as the symbolic stern focused man aware of his destiny. I'm currently on generation 4 of the game. So far, since I did finally take some time to create the new weapons and skills, the combat got more interesting and was more enjoyable. However, that took me too long to mess with that stuff. It's not exactly in your face in the easiest digestible way. What made the first half of it so much easier to get through was the DLC weapons being given to me at the start. Made the first two generations so much easier to deal with. But man... if I couldn't have bull dozed those first parts like I did, I probably would have given up the game. Only RPG that has taken longer than this has been Persona 3 so far.

For me, It's too long as I can't see myself playing games like this stuck in a chair or sofa (especially a game with 70+ hours!).

I think he misread "What game is too long for its own good?" or something like that (I did the same when I first saw this thread).
