DMC (2013)
I get why most people ignore or even hate this game, and that’s a shame because it’s an excellent, fun game with great gameplay with (almost) everything the DMC franchise has to offer.
Bias made many people miss out on this gem. I hope time vindicates it!

That and DMC3 are the only consistent games in the series. There are questionable things DmC does but usually when the game gets attacked, the story receives the bulk of it which I find to be really weird considering the series was never story driven like say Metal Gear Solid and Yakuza are.

I loathe the word "underrated". I do think the Transfomers 2004 PS2 game is interesting in how it combines metroidvania, third person shooter and collectathon all in one. It's also one of the closest things you can find to a metroidvania on PS2 and by extension 6th gen that wasn't a Metroid or 2D Castlevania. Unlike most if not all collectathons, the macguffins you collect can be used during combat aren't primarily progression roadblocks.
You don't have to be a big fan of the Transformers Armada show that this game is "based" on to enjoy it either.

Well, this is a personal tastes, off the top of my head I could say:
- Deathloop
- Outlast 2
- Sleeping dogs
- Dead space Extraction
- Ultros

This game looks really good, I'll give it a try soon, for sure!
For a second, when I read "Transformers", I thought you were going to talk about the movie tie-in.
I knew about this other game, but I never really cared about the franchise, and the other game I played was so bad, I ended up skipping it.

Agreed, Sleeping Dogs is criminally underrated.

Yeah, they share the same name so it's easy to get confused, I had to link that longplay just to help clear things up. War and Fall of Cybertron are also worth playing but they are more traditional third person shooters where this game is mish mash of 3 different kinds of games. Devastation is pretty fun but it's pretty derivative of stuff other games Platinum has made but that might be a little hard to obtain.

Going solely by the mathematical difference between the rating on the site and my score, Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean. It's one of my favorite games ever, but somehow it got only 8/10 here. I love the combat system, it's not that mechanically deep, but it keeps a good pace and encourages memorizing your cards. It also has some really unique dungeons later on. The plot is great, too. Again, it's not something convoluted or thought-provoking, but rather has solid execution and great twists. I believe every JRPG fan should try it out.

I honestly think most of the negative reaction at the time was because of two things
i) It wasn't Capcom.
ii) It's a younger Dante with a different look.
It's a really good game, but people on the internet were too busy complaining about things that weren't a reflection on the quality of the game before they even played it.

The game's bad PR really didn't do it any favors since it's the internet bad PR means guilt by association too. It also released during Capcom's heel run too.

I agree with you when you say that one of the reasons was the younger Dante replacing the old one (people hate changes, in general). The game not being made by Capcom and being a reboot may have had some influence, but honestly I think that was the main or even the only reason.

Always great to see Vagrant Story receiving some love. And I agree with you, the game is good, with an unique combat system (which we saw a sort of evolution of in FFXII) and the atmosphere is amazing indeed! In my life I've only ever met one person who cared about Vagrant Story and that's really sad.
