Claptastic Voyage is a simple continuation of the pre-sequel it offers nothing new and has the same issues as the base game with too much backtracking and an irrelevant story for the whole of the borderlands series. A filler DLC for a filler gameplayUpdated 1.5 Weeks Ago

I'll be up-front – From a writing perspective, Claptastic Voyage is easily my favorite thing the Borderlands series has done (that is, Non-Telltale --- and at least as of pre-3, as I have not played that one yet). Claptastic Voyage plays on a meta level with Computers, with one nice feature being that enemies often times have not only .exe extensions, but .app and I think even .deb – this is a nice inside joke for anyone who uses a wide-array of computers, as these are file extensions for Windows, Mac AND Linux, so well-played there Gearbox! However, the main story is one of those kinds of stories that involve things like going into the mental faculties of a robot, and seeing its memories, because the AI thinks its alive – it's not bad, but it's the type of story that you see written by people who think they're being more clever than they actually are. It's not hack by any means, and some of the bits are certainly engaging, but some of these bits, like one long mission involving giant worms that you have to kill over a short amount of time (while being attacked by other enemies) just feel endless – If you're underpowered, they're borderline impossible, and if you're adequately powered, these bits are just infuriatingly long. The overall game itself is actually way longer than it should be – I clocked in about 15 hours, but it felt like 25 hours by the end, as it just kept going and going, and I must say, I actually hated the final boss, as it was just unfair until you perform a painfully long grind afterwards. This is mostly because most of your powers don't really benefit you, and the enemy is constantly backed up by long-range heavy-impact reinforcements, some of whom can one-shot kill you if you just happen to be positioned right above an auto-death drop, which happened to me 2 or 3 times alone. It's actually a shame because the final boss himself, and the arena he's in, would have been an awesome battle, as it involves persistence and accuracy on your part, and you need to play it smart otherwise he can kill you in a few seconds, but the constant presence of his posse just makes it infuriating; I honestly think that the grind (excluding Holodrome Slaughter, which I did just to get more powerful), and the multiple attempts on fighting him, ended up being like 2 ½ hours of playtime, during which the story was not progressing, and I was not having any fun whatsoever. However, like I said, it's the best-written and most creative thing Gearbox has done with this franchise thus far, so I'd recommend it if you're a fan of the Borderlands games in general.Updated 2 Years Ago

On the last 2 stages my game started stuttering like crazy, dropping to single digit fps at times. Turns out it's because of physx, but apparently in all their wisdom they've not allowed you to complete disable it. In the rest of the DLC my fps was locked at 75 with physx on medium, but in the last levels even dropping it to low + resolution to 1080p from 1440 and lowering some other settings didn't fix it.The dlc is okay, but 25% is (almost) unplayable due to massive fluctuations in fps.

A very fun DLC. Good length, some interesting characters, and a lot of enjoyable lines and moments as might be expected from going inside Claptrap's head. As the only real DLC out at the time I wrote this, it was a really good way to spend a few hours. Glitch weapons are kind of disappointing though.Updated 8.5 Years Ago

Fairly interesting and unique dlc, a bit boring at times but a lot of work and creativity went into it and makes it worth playing if you enjoyed The Pre Sequel.Updated 9 Years Ago
