I absolutely ADORE this game, if I could give it higher than a 10/10 I would. I can't even formulate words for what I think about this game. It has irreparably changed my life forever and I will be thinking about this game until the day I die. It also absolutely made me fall in love with the Survival Horror genre. Nothing I say will do this game justice PLEASE PLAY IT I BEG OF YOUUpdated 1 Week Ago

From the first seconds I launched Signalis, I could tell immediatly this one won't be like any other game I had played before. It neither explains much nor guides you with markers or tutorials but, in stead, it drops you in,lets you piece things together and trusts you to follow along. The element that impressed me first was the game's general presentation. The art direction is outstanding and clean, and gives the game a distinct visual identity. From the CRT style filter and nostalgic low poly design that feels straight out of the PlayStation era, to the robotic menus, lighting, and transparency effects.. it really feels like everything was carefully crafted. The short cinematic cuts with their heavy sci-fi anime influence, gave the game such a unique tone that feels more like (absolute) cinema than a typical survival horror. The world itself, with its propaganda posters, technical notes and dense lore, is detailed and most importantly, coherent.
The game's audio is as impressive as its visuals. There were so many sounds and effects like the mechanical clicks, the electronic hums, the whoosh of wind, the way even opening your inventory/map that add so much to the atmosphere. The soundtrack is incredible, I'll never forget it and, if it's not obvious already, it went straight onto my personal best-of list. It’s rare for audio to do so much heavy lifting, but here it does. Honestly, I'm very sensitive to audio in games, and I just love it when it’s designed with care and make it as an integral part of the experience. And in Signalis, the soundscape is so detailed and deliberate that the game would feel incomplete without it.
On the gameplay level, Signalis balances survival horror with puzzle solving in a way that feels a bit old school and fresh. The horror, it just works here : The inventory is tight, and with ammo being so scarce, every bullet felt like a choice I might regret if wasted. Bare in mind that you are never sure if the bodies on the floor will stay down, and since the game doesn't pause while you're in the map or inventory, tension is constant. It reminded me a lot of the first Resident Evil locked doors, puzzles leading to new areas that loop back to earlier ones, enemies that don't stay dead. The puzzles themselves were really clever, and challenging enough without being unfair.. in one word : excellent. I rarely enjoy puzzles in games, but here they were super satisfying and never felt like filler. Combine this with the way the story unfolds slowly in fragments through notes and encounters, I was hooked !
That said, there is a last aspect of the game I believe it is important to point. I won't qualify it as a drawback but it lies in how Signalis demands patience and attention. Some players may find themselves overwhelmed or disoriented, particularly later in the game when tracking puzzles, locked doors, and codes and all this with no map, requires careful note taking.. otherwise you will waste time and resources backtracking. For some, this will be part of the charm but for others, it may feel like unnecessary friction and ruin the fun in consequence. In my opinion, I perceived more like a challenge that was intentional and part of the survival horror ethos, rather than a flaw in design.
To put it in a nutshell
Signalis is a rare gem that honors its inspirations on one hand while forging its own identity on the other. It iss atmospheric, poetic, and truly unforgettable. Thanks to its striking art style, impeccable unsettling sound design, intelligent puzzles, and interesting storytelling, it stands as one of the most memorable game experience I had in recent year. It stuck with me as I found myself analyzing it on YouTube and listening to the soundtrack on repeat. I can't believe this was done by an indie game dev duo.
It is demanding yes, uncompromising in its vision, but for those willing to immerse themselves fully, it’s nothing short of extraordinary.
Unfortunately, you can only experience its mystery for the first time once, and I wish I could do it again fresh ;w;

Are you still looking for answers where there are only questions?Beyond my comprehension to review, but if you liked SOMA and Mulholland Drive you’ll probably love this shit. It’s clear that the makers of this game put so much love and care into every inch of it. So many little intricacies woven throughout. There are two wolves inside of me one that wants to find an explanation to everything and one that wants to give into the feeling and this somehow satisfies both. Rose Engine said you little theorists are going to feel things and not know why and you’re going to like it!!!
To talk about the game in a more normal way, this has one of my new favorite soundtracks. It’s absolutely gorgeous and aids the vibes in every way. Art is also stellar. The way a lot of the puzzles look visually and the era of tech and all the noises scratch my brain just right it’s something magical. I particularly loved the puzzles that in retrospect, were also telling more of the story to me without me realizing, which thankfully for me was the majority of them. Also absolutely loved the perspective shifts for key points of the story. Threw me for a loop the first time it happened and it’s fantastic.

A genuinely fresh experience. Mostly everything in this game is great. The visuals, the soundtrack, the gameplay, the puzzles. It feels like a Resident Evil game with the safe rooms, limited inventory space, and the constant running back and forth between rooms. The only thing I had a hard time with is the story. It is knowingly vague, but just a tad too much. I was unsure of what to with the ending and the gaps in the narrative and will definitely need an ending explained to carry me across to understanding. Yet, the experience itself was moving. I am surprised the game was developed by just two people.Edit: I watched an ending explained and the pieces are fitting together. This game is too damn beautiful man

Remember our promise!Classical psychological horror puzzle game like Resident Evil but, different in its own way. Beside RE you will receive inspiration from Silent Hill, Ghost in the Shell, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Alien, Dead Space combined.
The game has stunning visuals and music. And you can dig out very rich story, if you try.

What truly stands out to me in this game are:- narrative devices & storytelling: bioresonance in particular is just so incredibly good as a concept, and the game shows it in what I feel is the best possible way...
- aesthetics: dystopic dark retrofuture-soviet biopunk lesbian crt-psx lovecraftian horror, with evangelion-like flashing screens and glitchy effects sprinkled in... what's not to love...
Soundtrack is good.
Survival Horror gameplay is okay, though I did wish it was harder at times, but even though I played in normal instead of hard I don't think I'll replay the game just to make it harder, I'd probably rather just play another survival horror title.
Ending (PROMISE) wrecked me emotionally. I don't know what the fuck I expected, it's not like the tone of the game would have allowed me to just like, reunite with the wife and have hot sesbian lex or even mild lesbian cuddles... but still surprised me and tbh hurt me a bit...
the first time I tried to play this game I didn't like/understand the survival horror mechanics/gameplay, so I initially gave it 55%.

Its SCP Sarkic nightmare (I fucking hate the flesh levels), with some dash of dreadful cosmic horror and sprinkles (no its actually a lot) of doomed lesbian shenanigans. Excellent atmosphere, good plot with okay messages and fantastic pixelarts that I just want to stare at for hours. The gameplay was very enjoyable; the classic tension of enemies screaming and whatever lovecraftian abomination is waiting for me behind the doors. I really like the combat mechanics, it is simple enough for me to not get distracted from the horror, yet very satisfying, as in I can go full Doom or Silent hill with just one combat mechanic. While others complain about the restrictive inventory system, I however throughly enjoy it. The limited inventory means that I will have to find more ways to endure the horror, and yes, this is personal, but I really love managing inventories, so the back-and-forth runnings is a bonus for me, instead of a drawback. As a point-and-click puzzle enthusiast, the puzzles in this game are very fun to puzzling, that is if I have time to ponder on them instead of speedruning through everything because I am scared shitless and just want to see lesbians kissing. However I am a bit disappointed about the characters. As a character-driven-activist, I think some characters are a bit shallow, and feels like a plot device rather than actual beings. The villain feels forced (actually I believe there's no significant villains in Signalis, only some antagonists). As a plot-heavy game, ofc Signalis doesnt have much replayability (after you have completed all endings), which is a bit bummer for me. But hey that's just some nitpicks here and there.
Signalis is my first ever horror game, and it has succesfully hooked me on this genre. It has inspired a gamer who hates horror with their every fiber to be curious about Silent Hill, a major inspiration Signalis inherited on.
Also its fanbase is nearly schizophrenics and is basically a barely disguised yuri porn advocate communit], so please play Signalis.

I don't love horror games, but that was good. Puzzles became a bit overwhelming at the end of the game but if you don't like puzzles - I don't like those either - you can play it.I can easily say that it's a game worthy of its time, but I wish the story was told explicitly at the end -like kojima works-.Updated 5.5 Months Ago

Updated 6.5 Months Ago

A pixelates puzzle game set in the future where androids and humans work together to expand their territory. What is happening, where is your shipmate and where are you? All of this leads to a story with deep lore as you fight enemies in an almost early Resident Evil style gameplay. You'll get lost, you'll die, you'll feel hopeless. It's all a part of the cycle that you're a part of.Updated 8.5 Months Ago

Waiter! I’ll have the kino with a side of ludo pleaseThe execution of a formula derived from a combo Dead Space, NGE, Nier Replicant, and Resident Evil - has little to be faulted for here.
Arguably it could have benefited from a slight difficulty bump, but this is very much a good starting point for anyone that’s new to these kind of games. Bravo :)

The game has a very interesting and well-crafted atmosphere. The storyline is complex and requires effort to piece together from documents and locations (a translation into my language would definitely have helped more), although I didn’t particularly appreciate the choice to leave some text in German (the developers' native language) or some Japanese characters.Due to a specific game design choice (an inventory limited to six items), there is a lot of backtracking, which can become quite annoying in some parts.
