So this is the legendary Crysis game,

Never played this until 2025. I thought this was just going to be another East vs West military game, and boy, was I wrong. Not going to say more than that. A very pleasant surprise.

You can tell by the gameplay that this is a pre-2010 game. Enemy AI is serviceable, nothing great. But the friendly AI you have on certain missions are very poor, they will just stand there doing nothing or walk next to you during an escort mission.

Very linear by design/ map layout, the Steam store page says you are free to tackle the missions any way you want, you really can't, mission objectives have a main road leading in and maybe a side entrance by a lake or something, not really this super dynamic style of play the devs talk about.

Completed it in 5 hours and 30 minutes with 70% of achievements.

TLDR: A 2007 game made to look new but still plays the same. If you don't know the story before playing, it's a nice surprise from the typical military shooters. Gameplay-wise, nothing you haven't played before.

Crysis Remastered

A beautiful game with surprisingly average gameplay.

Having completed this for the first time in 2025 I can see how this game impressed people 20 years ago. To this day this game is gorgeous, you can see how they pushed the industry with the graphics at the time.

Unfortunately I found the combat and traversal to be serviceable at best and the levels, while open, feel like funnels a lot of the time, where it’s just a matter of getting to the end. There’s little to explore and to find within the maps.

The combat can feel awkward, I saw little purpose grabbing enemies, a stealth kill option would’ve been the way to go here.

There is fun to be had though, don’t get me wrong. The second half of the time feels tighter and has more stuff happening, the VTOL level added with the remaster I found to be a welcome distraction.

Very exciting, but a bit short. Played through on Hard and should have probably done Delta instead. Not much revolutionary, but a graphical showcase (especially remastered) with fast pace and excellent gunplay. A spiritual successor to Far Cry 1, and should be played with similar intentionality rather than run-and-gun. I quite liked the underground level with antigravity, had a very cool aesthetic and was disorientating in a fun way.

Tohle bolí, zde vznikl kult, for.

A história?

E a otimização?

This game really holds up! The open-world gameplay reminds me a lot of Far Cry, except with the invisibility ability which gives you a lot of creativity in stealth options. The graphics are still really good, and the weapon customization right on the spot is such a great feature that I'm surprised no one have ever tried it after.
...That's what I would have said if the game was finished by chapter 3 or 4. The rest of the game feels completely different, a run-of-the-mill cinematic shooter only worse. The writing sucks; it almost feels like a parody of Hollywood action flicks but instead it ends up being a cringe copy of them. I think the people who still have a fond memory of this game collectively forgot the second half of the game, otherwise I really don't understand the praise behind it.
Also the performance is really bad for a game that's almost 20 years old?? I've played the remastered version, and the fps fluctuated all the time, even on the lower settings. People really should stop praising the game for its graphics, because looking good is the easy part while optimization is the hard one, and the game only brags about being good at the easy part.

I've heard so much about the visuals of Crysis, so imagine my surprise when I found a tight shooter with good AI and satisfying weapons! For a game made in 2007 I was seriously impressed and this is the sort of game that EA could do well to make in 2025.
Unfortunately my review score went from 9-7 due to glitches, 2 of which were almost game breaking. 18 years after release for these not to be patched is unforgivable.

Far Cry 3!

https://steamcommunity.com/app/17300/discussions/0/2132869574268607623/

Horrible AI, a boring campaign, and weapons that lack any sense of force or impact. Avoid this one at all costs, even with the "Remastered" title tacked on.

The highlight of my experience came at the very end of the final level. You have to jump onto a helicopter to finish the mission. Spacebar is jump. Spacebar is also skip cutscene. There’s no confirmation prompt. So yeah, I have no idea what happened in the ending—and the fact that I don’t even care enough to check YouTube says it all.

Sadly second half feels more like an michael bay action movie... what ain't that bad but it's an huge downgrade.

Last level is especially just too much... and i don't even mean storywise. Gameplay ways it's oposite of the whole game - hella scripted with boring gameplay and for some reason it's the only level that has issues on modern hardware - most of the game was running smoothly as hell ~300FPS in 2k with maxed details what i didn't expected from such an old game but last level was just an crashfest.

Next-Gen Gaming is Here: Crysis Review
Crysis is the long-awaited and highly anticipated 2007 first-person shooter developed by Crytek and published by EA. It runs on CryEngine 2, an upgraded version of the CryEngine which was used for Far Cry and it's expansion packs/spin-offs for the Xbox 360.

I've been looking forward to playing this game after watching gameplay of it, reading IGN articles and seeing the screenshots of how stunning and truly next level this game looks and it did not disappoint. Graphics truly were stunning, gameplay was really fun and the story line kept me engaged throughout the whole time and it gives you that Far Cry sandbox freedom of completing objectives the way you want to, do it through stealth using your cloak ability or go guns blazing. Every chapter of the game plays different, some missions are more encouraging of the use of stealth, sneaking around North Korean outposts clearing them out to gather more intel as secondary objectives, other parts of the game you'll be side-by-side with your fellow soldiers fighting the North Koreans and aliens together with a modest arsenal to choose from, Assault Rifles such as the SCAR or the FY-71 (which you'll be using a good amount of times), SMG's, Shotguns and futuristic weapons like the Gauss Rifle.

Crysis isn't your typical first-person shooter like Call of Duty may be where you're just meant to go from A to B in a linear style of gameplay. Crysis lets you truly explore each map level, sure you're pinpointed to go from A to B to C, sometimes getting thrown on a diversion to complete a secondary objective but the way you approach each objective is entirely up to you and I like that. Giving the player creative freedom on how to play the game allows you to keep the campaign experience fresh making each time you play through this game feel different in some aspects. You have to think about strategy, knowing when to use each ability of yours appropriately which makes gunfights and overall combat interesting. Of course you have your odd vehicle section such as tank battles, VTOL battles but apart from the VTOL missions, you're not forced to sit in a tank 24/7 and just complete the mission, you can choose to hop in and out of the tank when necessary or in some regular missions, you can hop in a jeep, pick-up truck and drive to your next destination.

The graphics and setting really create a cool atmosphere and the AI animals such as tortoises, frogs and chickens add onto that. The destructibility of certain buildings and other objects makes the game even more bad-ass. Seeing gas stations blow up accompanied with bass-inducing explosion sounds puts a smile on your face. I guess EA liked it so much as they teased the destructibility model in their upcoming Battlefield: Bad Company game coming out next year. The game was tough, combat is not like your typical style of combat. Gunfights felt tough and not just ones where you stand in the open and go gung-ho, you really have to nail your shot, take cover and be smart about how you approach them cause you take damage easily and before you know it, you're on 10hp dying for cover and that was on normal, can't think how it is on higher difficulty.

Of course, the game isn't perfect though. The graphics were amazing but sometimes were quite glitchy and the physics model was the same at times. Guns would get stuck in walls and give you an absolute ear-ache with the constant banging, at one point I came across a horrific sight of T-Posing enemies, frogs in the middle of some alien base hopping around in the air? Sometimes you could even glitch out and die out of nowhere but it was a rare occurrence. CryEngine 2 is a revolutionary engine don't get me wrong but it could use a bit of work to iron out the physics in the game really.

Overall, Crysis is a spectacular game and held up to its highly anticipated expectations. For a game like that coming out in 2007 to look and play that great, truly is something. Definitely a must-play or at least worth playing.

Positive points:
- Beautiful graphics
- Fun sandbox and combat mechanics
- Great Destructibility model

Negative points:
- Slightly buggy physics engine
- Minor graphical bugs (maybe due to 32-bit issues?)

The game still holds up very well.
I played Crysis for the first time when it was released on a beefy rig, but even back then the visuals werent the main feature I noticed.
The semi-openworld variative gameplay mechanics was a huge thing in 2007-2008 with all these destructive environment (esp. trees).
But the remaster wasn't that great frankly speaking: still lackluster performance and bad multithreaded optimization, questionable raytracing performance with some old bugs weren't addressed.
So the original game for me is 9/10
The remaster is 7/10, or even 6.5

Crysis was a masterclass of technical design at the time of its release, and graphically, it has aged surprisingly very well. The game also has some really neat mechanics, at least in terms of design, and there is one in the latter half where you go into an alien ship (not really a spoiler since the franchise became entirely about that in the sequels), and this alien ship is EASILY one of the most, well, 'alien' of any alien I've seen, in games or film. They operate in a way that seems to function, but how each individual piece works is almost surreal in its oddity, and the fact that they, at first, seem to be more semi-hostile than outright hostile, is a neat thing as well. Then, the game goes into a kickass final act where you work with hundreds of other people (as well as an entire fleet) to fight off an invading alien advancement. This is done in a way that I absolutely love, where the aliens certainly have the upper-hand, and their technology is odd and almost mystical, however they are more than susceptible to firepower, meaning that while the Humans are getting their asses kicked, the Aliens are taking more than their fair share of losses as well. And the final big battle is kickass, as you help take out enemies on ground and in the air as other soldiers and fighter-jets all engage the enemy horde, and it's truly as epic as it sounds! Now, having said that, the Final Boss SUUUUUUUCKS!!! I think it took me over 30 attempts to take him down, and this was AFTER I switched the game to Easiest difficulty! And to make matters worse, the game is......really underwhelming for the first half. Like, remember how in The Predator, you first follow Arnold's team as they take on guerilla forces, only to have the movie completely switch gears and go into an alien-battle movie? Well, it's very much the same (tropical setting and all), however this time it's more than half of the game's entire runtime, and it's SOO boring at times! It's also a bit frustrating because your abilities are way too short lived to be as practical as you'd like, so no matter how good you are with using your suit's powers, you still end up having to take out ~80% of human enemies the 'old fashioned way' so to speak. Overall, Crysis is, despite how overly long and uneventful the first half is, and how intensely frustrating the final moments are, a great game - the visuals are still solid, the music is grand, the aliens are incredibly well conceived, the latter firefights are epic, and the suit's abilities are very interesting. It's rather fun overall, and since it's cheap as hell now, I'd ultimately recommend it!

Crysis offers exciting gameplay with the Nanosuit's shield and invisibility mechanics, which add fun quirks to combat.

Original release: Definitely lives up the hype visually, but the actual game design is rather confusing and a bit buggy.
Still pretty neat, and even the worst aspects can be entertaining.
