kind of a mediocre game, but i'd say it's a good mediocre game. There's a number of lax vibes and pacing I can get into for this personally. Though on the same token I can see how people would say this game has at time frustrating pacing and too many cinematics and interesting gameplay happening. I can agree with that. I'd just imagine Lost Planet 3 like sitting back in a chair and just kind of turning your brain off and just letting the game happen and unfold. It's pretty relaxing with some spikes of action where you lean in a bit and then relax as you head off to repair something or set up a beacon. Combat constantly treads over the line of being too easy and very rarely bullcrap. Especially on harder difficulties where it just is clearly pretty unblanaced and unfun. For a good experience, i'd recommend normal. The game is mediocre and does nothing fun with its combat, so tougher fights is just boring unpleasant padding essentially, it doesn't interestingly challenge you, and will just set you back annoyingly sometimes. But yeah, aside that, decent game. It's like a B-movie made for a specific audience imo

Updated 2 Years Ago

Mediocre third person shooter, following the norm of the time, so way too many quicktime events and cover everywhere (even though most enemies rush you so cover is useless). Enemies are often tricky to spot and many are extremely fast, which doesn't gel with the way the game controls. The story is okay, but it does feel like parts of it are rushed (or missing) and the ending cutscene sets up a sequel which never came.
Gameplay is a bit confused, it doesn't seem to know whether it wants to be claustrophobic horror-light (like Dead Space) or just Gears of War all-out violence. The mech stuff is mostly quicktime events or walking large distances.
Controls feel very clunky, mostly because of the awkward camera, which is positioned much too close to the protagonist.
It's also extremely buggy, I got softlocked between my mech and the wall twice, I got softlocked between an enemy corspe and a wall, I fell through the floor after respawning on the final boss, some QTEs are tied to controller sensitivity and almost impossible on lower sensitivity, many button prompts (both controller and M+KB) are wrong and the store has an exploit if you click multiple times in quick succession.
It looks pretty good though, especially for its age and the acting isn't bad and at least it doesn't overstay its welcome.

Lost Planet 3 failed for being to overambitious. Instead of refining the gameplay of LP1 as an arcade-like single-player game and focusing on telling a great story or going for the co-op shooter gameplay of LP2, they deceided to throw every trend of the gameindustry of the time into a pot. Lost Planet 3 tries to be "cinematic", but fails with having bad animations (expecially the facial animations are horrible!) and camera movements in the cut scenes. The "open world" falls flat for being just a handful of mostly similiar looking bland level parts stitched together by loading screens that you will have to cross multiple times on your playthrough. The plot itself has potential, but is told with horrible pacing (for most of your playtime you will just do blue collar space mechanic work). The strength of the two first games where the epic boss battles, but in Lost Planet 3 you fight the same boring mid-bosses multiple times and when you do so in your mech it boils down to "block, then quick-time-event, repeat until enemy is defeated".Lost Planet 2 wasn't really my cup of tea as a solo-player and Lost Planet 1 was nice at it's core, but the gameplay was clearly originated from the PS2/Original Xbox era. I had high hopes for LP3 as a game that came out late in the console generation (I heard about the mixed reviews before playing it, but kind of hoped these where from dissapointed LP2 fans that wanted a co-op game again), but this was a mediocre experience at best. I give it a 60%

Lost Planet 3 has a fun and interesting story, nice characters and voice acting. The missions are very repetitive, a lot of backtracking and annoying controls for PC (if you use keyboard + mouse), you can change the controls but you can only use 1 key for an action (ex. you can't use a key that you use on foot for a command in your Rig even though on foot actions aren't possible).Worth a playthrough for the story, not worth 60$ retail. Buy it on sale.
Great step forward for Spark Unlimited.

I gave this game 3 hours of my time but I just could not get into it at all. You basically play as a guy that goes out and repairs things and collects fuel. These runs are typically interrupted by alien wildlife, but other than one type that shoots at you, they all have the same AI, which is to run straight at you and you deal with them all the same way, which is dive out of the way and shoot the glowing red spot.It just feels like I'm playing a game about a guy doing his job. Maybe it is because I have experience working as a field technician, but playing a game about going out in a slow-moving rig to go repair a satellite dish is like playing Street Sweeper Simulator to me. It is broken up by combat, but the combat gets stale fast because of the aforementioned reason.
