I don't have bad memories with Dino Crisis (except for the painful backtracking towards the end) but I have to admit it was a long time ago. So why not replaying it?

Signalis is a fantastic game but I probably won't replay it. Even 2-3 years later my memories are pretty neat.

So I guess it leaves me with Alan Wake II, which is kind of ironic since I didn't really like the first game. We'll see.

Enjoy everyone!

If we can agree on 'overrated' being 'not bad, maybe even good, just not as good as people say', I can only think of Dark Souls (and relatives). Oh, and definitely Ocarina Time.

Psychonauts is on my radar for a while now, as I've heard as many good as bad things about it. Hope I will enjoy it. I'll probably start the game next week.

I'm pretty much in line with Veriamo on the topic of "getting my money's worth" being something from childhood. As a 40yo+ player, I grew up in a time where we could only bought a few games from our wishlist, and back then, yes, they should better worth the price. Now that games are way more accessible, with digital stores, sales every other week, bundles... the idea has been 'diluted' (for me). It's more a question of whether the game is worthy of my time than my money.

Sounds a little off-topic, since I don't need the games to last longer (I already think many games are way too long for their own good), but I'm curious: are you really sure that playing on higher difficulty has any effect on the global lenght of a playthrough? I mean, if you play any type of game on higher difficulty, and even tough no one's universally good at gaming in general, you can only improve in the end.

I've been curious about this game for a long time now. Not sure it is really 'my type', but I guess it's time to find out.

So I start replaying Portal this morning and so far, so good. I really love the first few chambers, everything is so intuitive, can't remember a game with better tutorial levels.

Since my first playthrough is still recent and I remember most of the puzzles, I think I'll take my time and try to find all the secrets and easter eggs.

Just like with the previous topic, I don't count computer/mobile gaming and borrowed consoles. There's a slight difference, though, since there are a few games I played at friends', sometimes a little while before owning the console.

Atari 2600 => Pong or Pole Position, my father had both (+ a bunch of games I can't remember for sure), so I don't remember which one came
Game Boy => Tiny Toon Adventures: Babs' Big Break
Game Boy Advance => The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords
NES => Super Mario Bros.
3DS/DS => The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D
N64 => Super Mario 64
GameCube => Resident Evil Zero
Switch => Super Mario Odyssey
PS1 => Battle Arena Toshinden
PS2 => Tekken Tag Tournament
Master System => Wonder Boy
SNES => Super Tennis
Wii => Rayman Raving Rabbids
X360 => Final Fantasy XIII

Well... ok, why not?! :D

Atari 2600 => Asteroids, 10/2021
Game Boy => Link's Awakening [replay], 08/2024
Game Boy Advance => Shining Soul, 01/2023
NES => Willow, 05/2024
3DS/DS => Kirby Triple Deluxe, 04/2025
N64 => Turok [replay], 11/2021
GameCube => Viewtiful Joe, 05/2025
Switch => Yakuza Kiwami, ongoing
PS1 => Symphony of the Night [replay], 05/2023
PS2 => Beyond Good & Evil, 03/2025
Master System => Wonder Boy III [replay], 07/2024
SNES => Kirby's Dream Course, 04/2025
Wii => Bully, 09/2024
X360 => Lords of Shadow 2, 10/2024

Since you specifically mentioned 'console' I don't count computer gaming or my very rare mobile stops. I banned emultated games and borrowed consoles either, since I technically don't 'owne' them.

I'm glad Portal won GotM. It's a masterclass in game design and one my best gaming memories in recent years. Yep, 'recent', cause I played it for the first time only... 8 month ago. No idea why it took me so long.

I will definitely replay it this month, I just have to complete (or drop) a few other games before.

Enjoy everyone :)

I recently realized that Portal was never GotM (I was absolutely sure it was and never bothered nominating it). So I guess it's time to fix this.

I'll add to lowdefal's answer that you already gave you're own answer by mentioning the storefront option :)

Most of my emulated games are stored under the original version, but with 'direct download' as a storefront. Since the storefront option is (as far as I know, maybe I'm wrong) purely informative, I thought at the time this was both the lesser evil for the stats and the most comfortable choice for my own listings.

Now I have to admit that I changed my mind (and my tabs) a lot of times throughout the years, after reading numerous debates on the forum. I'm still not sure I have the correct answer and there's still a few games where I can't bring myself to mention a platform I've never touched or even seen in my entire life. But I think using the original system is the least worst option.

Duly noted :)

I've been on the fence about buying the Tetris Forever Collection for a while now (kind of like 'do I love Tetris that much?' haha). Bombliss look very fun. Thanks for the advices.

I have to confess that during the poll I was a little puzzled, I knew maybe 3 games on the list (including my own suggestion) but that's what I like about GotM, it's a good trick to come out of my comfort zone (which sometimes can be difficult as we get older).

Have a nice day!

I was kind of busy these days, but I have to take a few minutes to thanks whoever (Cock?) suggest this weird and funny game I wasn't aware of. As a great Tetris admirer, I (strangely) never bothered to discover other games by Alexey Pajitnov, and this obviously was a big mistake (in my defense, Hatris never came to Europe by the time of its release). Although clearly not as great as Tetris (in the sense it's not a game I can imagine playing and replaying and re-replaying for ever), this is a very interesting take of the puzzle genre. So, yes, thanks HLTB :)

For regular, I'll go with The Last Guardian, since I've just started it.

Hard to make a Fool's choice. I'm fan of a plummer who throws fireballs to turtles, no video game concept can sound weird enough to my ear :)
I think I'll nominate Hello Neighbor. First of all, it's currently free on GOG. Secondly, it looks kind of goofy. And last but not least : it seems terribly bad. Sounds like a good fit ;)

First time I met a dragon in Breath of the Wild. The setting, the surprise, the both peaceful and intriguing music... it was kind of magic. I could name a lot of other moments in this game, it made me do/think/feel things I never thought I could re-experienced as an adult player.

Full disclosure: I misread the poll and gave a vote to Zero Mission being 100% sure I was voting for Metroid Fusion :D

I don't owne Zero Mission and I absolutely want to complete the original Metroid before that one, so I will miss the party this month, but this is a classic, I'm sure everyone will have a lot of fun. Enjoy :)

I really wanted to beat the game within the month... and I'm not even close. Never really feel like playing it for long sessions (and I don't really have the time either, tbh). That being said, it's really good. I'm often quite skeptical about FromSoft games, but so far this one is a delight.

This is a pretty personal topic and I'm not sure how to speak about that publicly, but I know the feeling.

I have two other main passions outside gaming, literature and music, and I've experienced the same kind of 'burn out' with each three of them, at different points in my life. I can remember at least two years listening less than 10 records, which is absolutely crazy for anyone who knows who obsessed and curious I can be with music. Last year, all of sudden, I went from reading 7 books a month to 0 (and I was in the middle of one my favorite author's last book when it happened). It got better slowly (I'm on my second book this month ^^) and I know it will come back, because it always ends up coming back. As for video games, well, I spent most of the 2000s as a casual or non-gamer at all. I was just tired with video games.

Now why, how, and how to get out of this mood... I think we're all different so I can only speak for myself. In my case, every time I've been through this, I was just doing too much and trying too hard. I wanted to read/play/listen to everything I possibly could, and I did, but in hindsight, I wasn't reading/playing/listening to things I really wanted to and really loved. That's how simple things works with me. Only answer I found is, just like 2arda said, branching out and doing something else, then, when ready, going back to basics (a replay or something from your favorite genre), but not because you think you need to, because you really want to. I know it's easier said than done :)

    I'd say every other week or something, but I wasn't aware of IsThereAnyDeal (thanks, Tiamat :)

    As for Nintendo eShop, I use the wishlist and Nintendo politely sends me an e-mail when some games from my list are on sale.
