As other reviews mention: the remastered graphics have terrible lighting. But, you can switch between the remastered and original graphics at will.
As for the game itself, I'm not sure there are many people who find tank-control platforming fun. Likewise I don't think there are many who find tank-control combat fun. But if not for platforming, if not for combat, why play this game? All that's left to find enjoyment in is wandering around labyrintine levels while admiring the heroinne's rear. In other words, you'll have as much fun here as with a walking simulator.

Mama mia ce aventura tumultoasa in aceasta nostalgie ce o vad unii pentru ca la mine am recunoscut doar parti pe alocuri in incercarile mele sa joc originalul inainte de remaster. Tomb raider 2 l-am recunoscut cel mai bine fiindca am jucat remake-ul, bine la activ am jucat aproape toate seriile de tomb raider, deci sunt fan ..Mai am 4-6 remaster acuma lansat..pfui..alta aventura.
Din pacate aventura nu a fost toata roz, a fost un chin pentru mine pentru ca nu vedeam absolut nimic. Erau camere in care stateam ore si nu vedeam o maneta sau buton nenorocit.Primul am jucat exclusiv cu controalele vechi(tank mode) si mi-a placut, din nou pentru ca poate mai stiam parti din ele unde sa ma duc direct fara sa ma chiorasc dupa o anumita maneta sau buton. Level designul in general pentru vremea respectiva nu am dubii ca e superior dar pentru 2025 pentru mine a fost enervant pe alocuri. Sa merg, sa ma intorc , sa ma dau cu capul de pereti si cea mai mare greseala e sa te intrebi de ce? Sunt unele nivele sau puzzle-uri puse special ca sa mai lungeasca jocul. Nu au nici o logica si sunt frustrante combinate cu un control al personajului mediocru spre oribil.Sunt sectiuni multe in care nu poti sa exectuti anumite miscari fine cu controalele noi, mai pe romaneste se duce vita 8 pasi cand trebui doar 2. Combatul noroc ca e cu autoaim ca daca nu era voma curata. Boss fight e bine ca nu au fost multi, eu unu cel putin urasc gimic fight in care trebuie neaparat sa i fac ceva inainte sa il umplu de gloante dar daca el ma atinge imi sterge si save file-ul. ASPYX a facut o treaba fantastica si se vede ca e lucrat remasterul, faptul ca a pastrat si ambianta si zonele intunecate in care nu vad nimic nu e vina lor au adus experienta din 98 in 2024-2025 si mi se pare oribila experienta asta..sigur poti sa aprinzi o lanterna,ghifua ce o fi aia da tot nu vezi nimic de pe ambee grafice...uluitor..de prost.Controalele moderne si faptul ca poti sa muti imaginea o fost cat de cat o salvare in a termina 3-ul.Acuma sincer sa spun am folosit cheaturi pentru toate armele deblocate in 2 si in 3 si nu regret nimic! In 2 am folosit pe la jumate plus skip the level, ca si lorewise e abolut irevelant pentru ca nu sunt multe cinematicuri in serie. De aici vin si intrebarile de ce ma duc in AREA 51 ca sa lansez o racheta sa pot sa ma urc pe acoperiz ca ma incurca o bara ce tinea racheta......exemple sunt mai multe dar intrebarea "de ce?" e foarte gresita sa ti-o pui in remasterul asta, ma enervez si mai tare. Faptul ca am vrut sa termin odata cu ele nu mi-a oferit fun-ul care ar fi trebuit, in 1 am stat jumatate de ora la o saritura dar macar stiam, vedea ce trebuie sa fac, accept chestii de genul dar nu sa vad nimic intr-o camera 2 zile. Lorewise 1 este cel mai bogat si are si sens pe mai departe inclusiv cu underwordul care e ultima din seria clasica ca sa zic asa. 2 sunt unele nivele interesante dar iarasi le-am recunoscut jucand remake-ul iar 3-ul este doar greu si complicat aiurea iar ca si story ma doare capul.Sunt unele puzzle-uri ce nu le vezi nici in 2025 executate atat de bine,problema este fluviul de prostie ce le incojoara, caut acul in carul cu fan pentru momente de care sa mi aduc aminte cu placere. Repetabilitate trebuie sa imi de-a cineva bani daca e sa le mai termin odata..si nu sunt convis ca as accepta chiar daca ar fi oferta buna....
Concluzie? Parerea mea e ca ai nevoie de rabdare multa si ochi fantastici mai ales la primul run fara ajutor din alte parti,vreau sa spun ca le-am terminat pe toate in 70 de ore dar mint..au fost mai multe. Pentru mine nu a trecut testul timpului si desii sunt unele momente frumoase in joc sunt inecate de frustrarea multora degeaba.

Lara Croft is badass, what can I say. The best 3 Tomb Raider games got a remaster. This consumed me and it was so fun to achievement hunt on these games.

The DLCs while fun did not live up to the OGs.

3 real underrated masterpiece remastered, but where's The last revelation?

The controls were so janky it made the game unplayable for me. Tank controls made the movement really hard for me and modern controls lacked certain options like stepping backwards or getting out of water and climbing onto a ledge. The game itself didn't even explain how to take out your guns, so when bats started attacking me, I panicked. I figured it out quickly and tried to move on, but then big cats started attacking me. It felt like a jumpscare and I hate those. It was the last drop which made me quit the game after only 41 minutes. I was super hyped about this remaster because I never played the earlier games. It sadly wasn't for me.

I can appreciate the voice acting and the new art style but the jankiness of the control ruined it.

I played all these games in the past but didn't go further than the intro mission and deleted it. It's because it had annoying graphics. but now with this awesome remaster I just finished this game and realized what diamonds I missed in the past
I whish they made a remastered version of the fourth game.

Okey so i reviewed each game individually after i beat them so if ur interested in a specific game u can see it this is gonna be a little something about the collection as a whole.
So i was very excited once i found out the first three classic tomb raiders were getting a remaster cause i never got to play them and steam can't seem to run them on modern hardware either. So i got it a couple of days after release and started playing and i had my first frustration with the controls because as much as i see how the game was built around tank controls, i just don't have the time nor the wish to sit down and learn them because i just can't. The modern control scheme seems good enough and made me wanna play the game further. So i beat the first game after a while and even with some frustratig moments i had my fun with it. And then started the downfall with TR2 because that game is a rushed action adventure third person shooter with puzzles that make you go the same way twice just to make a trapdoor open meanwhile enemies spawn out of every nook and crany just to take you down. Horrible game with horrible..difficulty scaling if u even wanna call it that. After that i was quite excited for TR3 because i knew of the new moveset and was looking forward to something new and my excitement was up there for a while but it went down quickly and never rose back up. And i can't pin point what exactly but something made me just wanna get over with the game and so i did finally. Game had pretty levels with some more weird puzzles and not knowing where to go next because the ropes you climb on are basically invisible and you just have to know that they are there.
But i wanna cut this short because i could rant about this for hours, the games got worse and worse and i honestly wish i would've never played them cause they left me with a bitter aftertaste. Still the remaster itself is very well done and you can see that fans worked behind it.

A mixed bag of a remaster, e.g. some of the progression items are invisible with remastered graphics and broken achievements. Also they've removed the original games' credits and there's no gamma setting, sounds effects in TR3 being very quiet for some reason.

Some cool new QoL improvements such as roll/quick turnaround moves being added to TR1, but you also can't get the entirely classic experience either, since for example the crystals no longer heal you in TR3 like they did in the original PC version.

Still a decent and mostly hassle-free way to experience the classics on modern hardware.
