I noticed sometime in mid 2020 that new Xbox releases were no longer displaying your time played in the stats section. It looks like they've stealth reintroduced those metrics in the last couple weeks.
I own several new titles that I know didn't have stats and now they do.
As somebody that loves to know how long they've played each title, this was really exciting to me.

Very cool -
I'll add that if anyone uses GOG Galaxy and has their Xbox account linked - those game times will show up in Galaxy as well (when it works lol) =)

Yep! I use GOG Galaxy occasionally just to sort my Xbox list by time played.
EDIT: I just launched GOG and synced, doesn't seem to pull the time played for all the titles that weren't showing it previously. I double checked a bunch of games that didn't pull it on GOG and it's showing on my Series X. Oh well, hopefully it'll catch up some day.
EDIT 2: Removed my Xbox profile, added it back and now it's populating.

Well, I would hope so, seeing as you are the creator, developer and manager of a gaming website called 'How Long To Beat'.

I forgot this was ever a thing to begin with, thanks for reminding me! Now I can cry about how I've apparently already burned 90 hours on Outriders >_>

For anyone that uses TrueAchievements, you also now have the option to show your game time in your Game Collection tab.
Just go to the filters (top right) and check the 'Time Played' box....nifty :)

Ooh thanks for pointing that out! This is way easier to use than checking every game individually via the Xbox UI.

Need to be set to List view to see the 'Time played' box for anyone else having trouble finding this.

Good. No idea why they ever removed it.
I like how they also retroactively added it back to older games you've played. I know it didn't track my time on Cyberpunk but it's showing up now.

Does anyone know if it's reliable enough to submit the times here?

It depends how you use your Xbox.
I'm an insane person and I hit option > quit whenever I'm done playing so my times are accurate. If you let it run in the background while you are idle on dashboard a lot or maybe even media apps, your times may be off.

It doesn't count when it's off with Instant On or if you've got the game suspended ready for quick resume (Series consoles) but I sometimes leave my games running so if I finished a game and I notice my time is way off the average on HLTB then I don't include my time.

I've turned the instant-on thing off anyway, I like to fully shut down the console every time. It's a Series S and it's quick resuming all the time (which I love), but good to know that doesn't count.
Thanks for the info.

I'm still unsure if the console itself affected my Prey time or if I just played it REALLY REALLY SLOW. Either way, mine is the longest Main+ on Xbox One, which is unusual for me O_O
