It pushes standard FPS combat into a new realm with fun and nervous gameplay, although gets a bit too easy even in nightmare and restricting some tools.
If you just want to have a good time, it's also there because it's quite satisfying to play.

I didn't really have a great time with this game. It was fun at parts to just kill a load of demons, but it's just the same thing over and over again. I decided to get the platinum trophy for this and it was a pain. If you follow the guide from the beginning then it's fine, but I decided to do a playthrough without the guide first time around. So in order to do all the collectible stuff I just went back to mission select.

There's a glitch with the "The Circle is Complete" trophy where even if you collect all the runes, if you collect some of them on the mission select mode, then the trophy doesn't pop. The only way to get this trophy is to play through the campaign again to collect all the runes in one go. This added an extra 3 or 4 hours of game time and was just awful.

If you like just exploding demons, this is the game for you.

Now this is how you reboot a franchise.

Doom (2016) takes everything the first two games were and transports it into the modern era beautifully. It's a delightfully fun, cathartic shooter where you're an unstoppable badass taking on the legions of hell.

I think the worst part about the game is the first impression it makes. The first couple of levels feel really slow, and their level design is some of the weakest in the entire game.

But when Doom 2016 really kicks into high gear around mission 4, maybe 5, you won't be able to put the game down. There's tons of weapon variety, secrets and collectibles to find, upgrades to try out and varied demons to kill.

An incredibly enjoyable experience. The music and level design is truly amazing, and the graphics look really good even 9 years later.

There are some flaws, such as the aforementioned slow start, but also some useless upgrades (who ever used the remote detonation rocket launcher, raise your hand) and multiplayer-only achievements, but they don't detract from the fun of simply shooting and killing hordes of hellspawn.

The story itself is nothing special, though I will be honest this is my first Doom game so I am unaware if there is any connection to previous entries. In any case whatever the actual plot it, it's straightforward without much to take in. This game is entirely about gameplay and killing demons and damn does it feel good. Glory kills, the assortment of weapons, the chainsaw everything feels great and it never gets old. There is also a good amount of challenge and some strategy necessary in order to progress once you get into situations where numerous demons begin to come at you. The other thing I will praise this game for is all the little collectibles and hidden items spread across the somewhat non-linear path. All in all this is how FPS should be done. A good variety and style that never gets old with some places to explore.If the story had something special this would be game of the year material.

Pro jednoho nesmysl, který je striktně lineární, pro druhého nostalgie, bod, kdy se pro něj všechno změnilo. Tak přesně takto definuji první dva díly. No, přišla skvělá trojka, která byla bohužel příběhová a její přístup k hratelnosti byl zcela odlišný a proto jej fanoušci zavrhli a stala se nedoceněnou. No a DOOM byl jen v přihrádce se slovem ,,CO S TÍM?´ˇ. No a najednou se skoro po deseti letech objevil restart a to první psané ...STRIKTNÍ NESMYSL, BEZ SMYSLU a pro mě BOD, KDY JSEM SE NOSTALGICKY VRÁTIL V NOVÉM KABÁTKU. Téhle hře JÁ nemůžu nic vytknout, je to DOOM, je to o běž, zabij, zabij, zabij, zabij ...příběh jako v pornu ...běž, zabij, zabij, zabij, zabij atd.. Já tohle miluji a psát tu o hře nějaká slova ve stylu to a ono, to je zbytečné. Buď to milujete, nebo jste na řadě!

It's so great to see Doom back in the present day! It's been such a huge success for the industry, and ID Software has done an amazing job of making a really great game and bringing the Doom guy to us.

The game has some really exciting gameplay sequences, Doom Guy is the perfect example of someone who can't be stopped, and the weapons he carries make him a real pain for demons.

Why not try it out and see for yourself just how relaxing it can be to take on those demons and use all kinds of weapons to defeat them?

"Demonic presence at unsafe levels. Lockdown in effect." squeals the game's AI director, letting you know it's time to start slaying. And no one slays like the Doomslayer. It really does beg the question: what level of demonic presence is considered safe?

This is my third or fourth replay of the soft reboot, and the run-and-gun action has yet to get stale. I absolutely have a blast every single time I play through the campaign. It strikes a perfect balance of intense combat, fluid platforming, and hidden secrets that lead to satisfying upgrades—all from a first-person perspective.

Add to that one of the greatest metal soundtracks in modern gaming, and you've got an unforgettable audio-visual experience. DOOM (2016) is truly one of gaming's greats.

You run and kill demons with guns what else do you need. But yeah in the start this game was slow but got better as I progressed with such cool weapons my favorite were Gauss Canon and Super Shotgun. The soundtrack was ok wasn't better than ultrakill I was expecting more. The storytelling was horrible 5 lines of paragraph as subtitles like what? I wish it had more bosses only 3-4 and that too in the end. My first doom game and I enjoyed it.

Fun at first but it really becomes a slog due to the lack of strategy present in the older doom games, I found myself lowering the difficulty and holding down the mouse button due to the unengaging and often overwhelming gameplay.

The great soundtrack and (some) level designs are definitely the highlights, but the constant change of direction in DUSK and other retro(/styled) shooters are much more engaging to me.

I definitely prefer Doom II
