This game is a huge steaming pile of garbage. The greedy developers are charging $70 for a 21 year old remake. That is extremely expensive. I hate this bullcrap narrative going around that this game was "ahead of its time" in 2004. That is a revisionist fanboy lie. MGS3 cuts way too many corners and it was an outdated, shovelware piece of garbage back in 2004, and I was hoping this remake would change that. But unfortunately, this is just another generic UE5 game that suffers from the exact same issues as the others. It looks and plays like every other UE5 game like Expedition 33, Mafia: The Old Country, Black Myth Wukong and all of that other low-budget trash. The performance is trash for a linear game at 720p. And it's not like this game has anything demanding either, I mean just look at the fire in this game for instance, it literally looks like a TikTok filter. And the graphics aren't even that good either, not to mention that the maps are literally just plants, trees and rocks. So why does the performance keep dropping during certain aspects? Everyone blames UE5, but I doubt it's the engine's fault. The developers are too greedy and lazy to optimize their game.

The gameplay is boring and repetitive. The physics are beyond horrible. The animations are a joke. I saw plants magically vanish when I walked away from them at a certain distance, and I can see that these lazy devs were trying to use the fog to hide it (like arty farty GOW) but failed miserably. You don't even have to be that far for it to disappear, I want to say it disappears in about 3-5 yards. It's the same garbage as GTA San Andreas. That was a PS2 open world game though, so it's embarrassing that a PS5 linear game suffers from this exact same problem. Speaking of the PS2, this "remake" still manages to do things worse than original. The AI is incredibly stupid and worse than the PS2 version. The dog attacks look much worse than what I remember. And it doesn't matter if a dog, crocodile or human attacks you on land, you will get the exact same awful animation that sends you flying at the exact same distance. And I saw with my own two eyes that the crocodile's mouth didn't even touch Snake, but it still sent him flying with the same goddamn animation. Well actually, that snout is too narrow to be a crocodile, it's more of a gharial? You know what I'm talking about, I ain't a wildlife biologist.

There is no multiplayer. So once you beat the story, there is literally not a reason to play this game again. Charging $70 for a game with no replay value is a cash grab. When I shot a duck toy thingy, the sound it made was so annoying and cringeworthy. But of course, that's nothing compared to the cutscenes, especially when that dude with the red beret makes that soyboy high-pitched "meow" scream, oh God that's next-level cringe. It's reasons like this why it's embarrassing to be a gamer. The lighting is abysmal. The hit detection is trash. When a dog attacks you while you are in prone position, Snake doesn't react to the attack. He just stays still like a moron while the dog's snout is clipping through his entire back. This is literally shovelware quality. When I pay $70, I expect top-notch AAA quality. That is exactly what this game lacks. And for God's sake Sony, stop shoving Astro Bot down our goddamn throats. Astro Bot isn't a thing and will never be a thing. Talk about being out of touch. I punched a dog 2 feet above his head and somehow that magically knocked the dog down, despite my fist clearly hitting the air. I don't recommend this game at all.

I'll preface this review by saying I'm not a fan of the original game this remake is based on. I played it because I wanted see if the gameplay was improved. I was already aware that the story was going to remain unchanged. It's esstentially something along the lines of the Destroy All Humans remake that came out a few years ago. Everything is the same but there are gameplay changes. Despite knowing what I was getting myself into, I was surprised that the gameplay hasn't improved by much. It makes me wonder what even is the point it other than for people who really want modern graphics and controls.

The story of the game manages to be both overbearing yet empty at the same time. A good bulk of the game's story is at the start with the Virtuous Mission. There will be non stop exposition with small amounts of gameplay. This whole prologue is as long as a feature length film and most of it is just non stop exposition and characters talking. The opening briefing sequence goes on for so long when it could've been so much shorter. You sneak into a Soviet jungle, get Sokolov, get out. This is way longer than it needs to be.

I'll give some credit in that the character of The Boss is at her most interesting here with lines like, "today's friends is tomorrow's enemies" and "the only thing you can believe with absolutely certainty is the mission". This is as interesting as she is ever going to get.

The middle half of the game is barren in terms of story and all you fight are one note generic bad guys with their most memorable traits is their ridiculous looks and names. They are no different than boss fights in platformers in terms of characterization and relevance to the overarching plot. For a story about a man becoming slowly becoming disillusioned by his own government that and why native people betray their own country, not much of this explored in the middle half and all of this is frontloaded at the end portions of the game.

There is never any bad calls Snake has to make or arguments with his superiors in the middle half. The support team is along for the ride.

Ocelot, The Boss and Volgin are the only "real" villains. Ocelot spends most of the game being a goofball to suddenly being the greatest secret agent ever. The Boss only shows up to stop Snake and report that he killed a Cobra member than leaves until her long monologue at the end. Volgin is an angry kid who thinks he's way cooler than he is. Everyone just lets him act like he's in control. All his accomplishments like owning the Philosopher's Legacy, the creation of GRU and firing the nuke at the start were mainly because of other people. His lightning powers are unexplained since he needs a last line of defense since he's not very strong or smart.

The gameplay changes? Everything is mostly the same except on the fly camo switching, crouch walking and sniper holstering. No quick select shockingly. The stamina system is out of place in a linear game like this since all it does is just make you check a meter every once and a while instead of a guage you have to constantly watch like in a survival game. The health and mortal wound system adds little to the game since health DOES regenerate even when wounded, it's just slower than traditional regen health. This only matters during bosses since they hit harder faster than Snake can regen. You'll be stockpiled with medical supplies by then.

The level design follows the same rules as the industrial corridors in MGS1 and 2 but makes less sense for a jungle since it is in the outdoors. You crawl from bush to bush like how you run and press against walls in those games. There could've at least been a larger and more interconnected jungle. The level design does shine a little more in the open mountain areas and the start of Gronji Grad but that removes the jungle which was this game's major selling and where much of the game takes place, it's also easier to deal with guard sightlines with the open space plus the addition of crouch walking which is harder to do during the interior and jungle levels due to their cramped nature.

Sniper holstering and crouch walking breaks The End and final battle. The former took a bit of time since using the sniper meant you had to be fixed to one spot but now you can pull out the sniper at any time making it for quick shots at the former. No more need to get up close and shotgun him.

The Boss can't see you as well when using crouch walking and partner that with sniper holstering and slo mo counter when she gets close and it gets noticeably easier. The hard part is get is getting the timing right for the first few slo mo counters.

The Fury is the hardest due to how one hit by his flame can level Snake's health and how he can stay in prone and the flames can still widdle away at it.

Overall, this remake changed the controls and certain mechanics but nothing to accomadate it all. This whole remake is just one big "why" outside of those who want a modern playing game.

When I started playing Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater, I went in fresh — I never played the original. This remake has been highly anticipated by fans, and many of the reviews I read beforehand praised its deep story and emotional twists. But coming at it from a newcomer’s perspective, I found my experience more uneven.

The story was... fine. It had its moments, especially toward the end where a few solid twists caught me off guard. But much of it felt slow and overly cinematic, weighed down by an endless stream of cutscenes. There were stretches where I felt like I was watching more than playing, which made it hard to stay immersed.

On the technical side, the graphics are undeniably impressive. The jungle environments are lush, the lighting effects bring scenes to life, and character models look sharp. The voice acting is serviceable—good in key emotional moments, though not particularly memorable. It’s clear the development team put serious effort into presentation, and it shows.

Unfortunately, the gameplay didn’t click with me. Playing on keyboard and mouse, I found the combat system clumsy and frustrating. Knife fights felt awkward and unresponsive, and boss battles often turned into button-mashing marathons, especially when I had to spam “C” just to get Snake back on his feet. That might sound minor, but during intense fights it became downright irritating.

Ultimately, I wanted to love this game. I really did. The foundation is there: a revered story, great visuals, and an iconic atmosphere. But as a modern experience, it just doesn’t feel smooth or engaging. Maybe if I’d played the original, nostalgia would have carried me further—but as a new player, Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater left me feeling more exhausted than inspired.

I am going to break this review into 2 parts.

1. The remake port is terrible. No FSR 3.1 support, no FG, only 3 options for entire graphics settings and very very demanding to run. I gave up after playing for 9 hours because of the visuals, it wasn't fun. But luckily unofficial fsr 4 support and modding of drivers made a huge difference. The game looks absolutely incredible. Visuals aside, the remake offers very little quality of life changes. Controls are terrible, menus are terrible; it just feels like a very old game with a fresh coat of paint. They could've so much to improve the gameplay experience. Hence I'm giving the remake a 4/10.

2. The actual game itself is incredible. I loved the quirkiness, like ocelot grabbing eva by her boobs, snake just blatantly starring at eva's boobs, ocelot reloading his revolvers, snake asking para-medic how each snake tastes etc. The level of attention to detail is incredible. The sound from snake's tummy when he is hungry alerts soldiers, walking on leaves alerts soldiers, snake attracting volgin's lightning bolts if he has any guns equipped etc. were so good. They don't make games like these anymore!

This is a game that I loved back in the day, but I don't think a new coat of paint is enough to bring It to modern audiences. This should've been redesigned from the ground up, because the mostly unchanged mechanics and gameplay now feel clunky, slow and dated. The stealth genre has evolved since then and I don't see how it could appeal to anyone apart from the old fans.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater was my first full step into Kojima’s world, and it was nothing like I had imagined. What I thought would be a grounded military stealth game turned into something far more eccentric, full of bizarre villains with strange powers and cutscenes that seemed to last forever. It was both impressive and frustrating, fascinating and sometimes exhausting.

The visuals are undeniably solid. Environments look sharp and detailed, and Snake himself shows every scar and burn you earn through your mistakes. Exploring the jungle felt rewarding, especially when discovering hidden gear or finding the right camouflage to boost stealth. Character designs, however, still carry the weight of the past. Some animations look dated, and movement never feels as fluid as in modern games. Crawling through tight spaces or even trying to sprint could feel clunky, while close-quarters combat almost seemed too strong by comparison.

The story started slowly, with heavy exposition and lengthy cutscenes that sometimes dragged on for half an hour. While the narrative tied itself together nicely by the end, it often tested my patience along the way. I found myself zoning out during certain info dumps, especially when the delivery relied on blurry photos and walls of dialogue.

Despite its flaws, the game offers strong replayability. Unlockable camouflage, grading systems, and the challenge of non-lethal runs give plenty of reasons to return. The mix of oddball humor, Cold War drama, and inventive boss battles left me with a strange sense of admiration, even when the pacing and mechanics showed their age.

Metal Gear Solid Delta is not a flawless remake, but it captures the strange magic of the series. It is weird, clunky, and fascinating all at once, a game that lingers in your head long after you set the controller down. If you loved the original, this is a must buy. If you're new to the series, like me, it may be best to try another in the series or wait for a sale on this one.

It is hard to recommend Metal Gear Solid Delta in its current state. While it is still Snake Eater, I don't recommend getting it at its price tag with its current optimization issues, and for the fact that its $70 for MGS3 with an UE5 coat of paint essentially. The game itself is not bad, (its Snake Eater one of the best if not THE best MGS game) but the poor optimization, the issues that come with UE5, and the unfamiliarity/laziness with the dev's utilization of UE5 make it a turn off in a way. I was able to play the game early because I was a fool and pre-ordered the game thinking, "Konami can't mess this up" and I was welcomed with poor optimization and the game just looking and running poorly. It wasn't completely unplayable, just disappointing in a sense. Luckily, I have not faced some of the issues other players have described. Just frame drops here and there. Konami has released a patch and plans to keep ironing out the issues, but I still don't think it is worth the price tag. It is also a remaster rather than remake.

Overall great game (bc remaster) but due to the current issues, I cannot recommend it at full price. Wait for sale.

This was my first game of the franchise and sadly I was disappointed. It plays like an old game with a new camera, which might be what most people wanted but I lack the nostalgia factor so it bothered me.

The over-the-top characters and lengthy cutscenes were unexpected (I really avoided spoilers and details about the game haha) and I felt like watching a comedy show with some sexualised and exaggerated content haha Weird!

I decided to watch a "movie of the game" on YouTube to understand the story and I'll probably do the same for the rest of the franchise since this game is considered its peak just because I want to try to understand why it's so loved.

I must say that all the easter eggs and different ways to play the game, even the cheesy ones are super creative. But that wasn't enough for me.

I imagine I'd feel the same way about the great and the bad things 20 years ago if I had the chance to play the original.

A must play if you're interested in MGS and never tried before, gameplay is more buttery thanks to new style gameplay, and cinematics are easy on eyes. the FPS is limited to 60 but that doesn't bother you too much, The plot is still competitive to todays standards despite being 20 years old. The quirky moments and characters was more interested to me than drama actually.

I tried playing the original about a year before the game was announced and because I had only played the first 2 as a kid and felt no nostalgia towards this one, I ended up not getting too far....wasn't really feeling it.

When this game came out I decided to give it another shot because many people kept saying it is the best metal gear game. They weren't wrong. I loved this game. Had a lot of fun doing a no kill run on extreme difficulty. I will say though literally every boss has their gimmick, a couple of bosses just felt broken in some instances. The game could have also been optimized better as my PC is pretty beefy but it was still struggling to at least hold 40fps....sometimes dipping in the 20s...of course I was prioritizing graphics, but that's why I paid for a high end PC.......a really fun game nonetheless .

The last time this series got a remake, it was considered not as good but still fun due to the game it was remaking. This game shows that history repeats itself. My main issue with the game is the bullet drop, why the fuck would you add bullet drop to a Metal Gear game? No other game in the series does this and it's so jarring. The game also feels kind of awkward in spots, mainly during cutscenes. Unreal Engine 5 was the wrong choice for this game. I also found it annoying that you couldn't have legacy controls without a top-down camera, this is Subsistence erasure. At the end of the day tough, it's still Snake Eater, I'd just recommend the Master Collection version over this.

This game (remake) coats largely on my undying love for MGS as a franchise, the incredible stealth gameplay loop of the original, and unbridled nostalgia. That being said it would knock your socks off if you had no idea what you were getting into (I think?)

Idk if I wanted it to take more chances than it did which were basically none. The OG looms large in my heart, but I also have an equally large disdain for digging up the dead and reanimating the corpses in higher and higher definition.

All in all it was good and I'm glad more people get to experience this franchise for the first time. We shall see what the future holds.

One of the greatest games of all time, but this is more of a remaster than a remake. There are new character models and cutscenes, which are cool, but many of the in-game textures, like the foliage in the jungle, look blurry. And the max frame-rate is 60, which is lame. Definitely not worth $70 and I'd recommend just sticking to the Master Collection version.

Out of nowhere, Konami took it upon themselves the Herculean task of recreating one of the greatest games ever made. And as catastrophic as the range of possibilities may look, incredibly, they succeeded.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a borderline perfect remake of a borderline perfect game. And it is precisely so because of the incredible level of respect displayed by Konami and the ex-KJP members. It doesn't try to reinvent the wheel, it doesn't try to "modernize" or adapt the story for "modern audiences," it doesn't dumb down the experience. Delta is unapologetically "MGS3 if it were released in 2025," period.

Metal Gear Solid was always about unlimited freedom inside a linear framework. It's a "linear" game that offers you complete control of your approach to the current situation. There's always more than one way of completing the task at hand, and the game rewards you for unhinged creativity like no other game ever did. With all of the new zones compared to its predecessors (we went from base infiltrations to wild forests and jungles!), MGS3 tunes this design philosophy up to eleven, with all kinds of different approaches to different situations. Need to get past a guard? You can tranquilize him, you can kill him. You can sneak around undetected, you can knock on a wall to emit distracting noises. You can shoot a fruit from a tree and infiltrate while the guard is distracted. You can shoot the closest hornet hive and laugh as they rush him down. You can even toss him a live poisonous snake you captured earlier (and it'll poison him!). You can disguise yourself as a scientist, or as a maintenance crew member, or as a high-ranking general. You can even wear a USSR uniform, and he'll think twice before shooting his own colors! You can throw him an empty magazine, or sneak around with a cardboard box. You can blow up his food warehouses to make him starve, then throw him food to lure him in. Poisonous food, too! Or even rotten food you forgot in your backpack for days! You can call Soviet HQ and order an airstrike to pulverize the poor guard. Don't forget the adult magazines, either! And finally, you can just unequip your camouflage, equip a heavy machine gun and go in guns blazing, Rambo style. The possibilities are endless, and it's up to you as a player to express yourself the way you want to.

In the modern day and age, without the original team and director, Konami could never replicate this level of greatness, and apparently they know it. How do you remake something that's already perfect? So they took the safe, and correct, approach: do not change it. Modernize it. Give it gorgeous UE5 graphics with Nanite geometry and Lumen lighting, which, to be frank, are clearly rushed and not optimized at all. But that's a trend across every UE5 game, it seems, and a reflection of the current state of the industry. Give it a different, more modern twist on gameplay mechanics: change the camera placement, make it resemble MGSV. Recreate the control scheme to distance the game from the 2004 original controls that were heavily dependent on the DualShock 2’s pressure-sensitive buttons. Re-record some voice lines if the originals sound out of place (such as Snake's scream when he dislocates his arm near the end of Virtuous Mission). Re-record the classic Snake Eater opening, by itself another Herculean task, since we’re talking about one of the greatest, most iconic and memorable videogame openings of all time. Add new collectibles, why not? The GA-KO ducks always felt lacking compared to the Kerotan frogs in the original, so now we got 64 new yellow ducks to shoot. And that's it!

Changes shouldn't be disrespectful or alter the original director's vision. A Capcom-style reimagining would never work here. Adding new things is always acceptable, as long as they don't interfere with the original experience. And Delta does this masterfully: there are changes, but you have to be very perceptive to actually see them. Volgin's death, for example, was changed! Now it plays the characteristic Man on Fire SFX from MGSV: TPP, and his model was redesigned to better portray the immolated Volgin from MGSV. These, among other slight changes, are great and respectful additions to an already complete and borderline perfect package. Great job, Konami!

All in all, Delta plays it safe, and who would have thought, that was the perfect approach. I believe Metal Gear Solid 3 never actually needed a remake, but the DualShock 2 controls were never perfectly adapted to modern consoles (even the PS3 HD Collection botched the pressure-sensitive button implementation, removing all precision and control from the player), and the original Snake Eater camera doesn't really sit well with modern players. Konami fixed it all, gave the game a fresh coat of paint, and called it a day. And that's exactly how you create a 10/10 remake. As unbelievable as it sounds, Konami remade Metal Gear Solid 3 (!!!), and they NAILED it.

Easily one of the best games I've played in history.

Only con would be the performance issues but the game ran great for me at 60 fps with rare fps drops and crashes on PC with a 9070 XT and i7 12700k.

I'm a huge metal gear fan, played all of them, even the spin-offs. I was eager to play this "remake". It was good to feel the nostalgy from when i first played this game but I was expecting more. This feels more of a reskin than a remake. It has almost nothing new. The original had a very good story but I just can't shake the feeling that I played the original again. Even some of the cutscene black screen feel outdated (from this remake). Felt a little disappointed, don't get me wrong, it still is a great game because it's the original with new graphics but the price tag is HUGE. If you never played this game, I recommend that you do it now, just wait untill it get's to sale or something. Otherwise try the HD Collection (you'll have more hours of amazing story).

Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater is the remake of one of the most iconic games in the franchise created by Hideo Kojima. Developed by Konami with Unreal Engine 5, the title faithfully recreates Naked Snake's journey in the 1960s, in the midst of the Cold War, maintaining the original narrative of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater.

The remake features modern graphics, much more detailed environments, and updated gameplay mechanics, but without changing the essence of the original experience—it even preserves the voices of the classic cast. The focus remains on survival in hostile jungles, using camouflage, manual healing of injuries, and the strategic stealth that defined the franchise.

Well, if there was any doubt that the modern gameplay made it easier, the reviews certainly didn't play on Extreme, lol.

The game is a 1:1 replica of the original, with some improvements like quick camouflage changes and the first-person view, which was criticized by some reviewers.

The story is identical to the original, with the same scenes remade in UE5 and everything good that I remember.

Despite being short, the game has absurd replay value. Playing on Extreme for the FoxHound (the most difficult trophy) is highly recommended, as that's where MGS shines, just like it did back in 2004.

I would love to see MGS1 and MGS2 in this engine, as well as MGS4, which was left behind on the PS3. Konami is rising from the ashes with remakes like Silent Hill, Suikoden, and now Metal Gear.

For me, along with Resident Evil 4 and Demon's Souls, this is one of the best remakes, and it truly does justice to the original work of the master, Kojima.
