Really repititive and boring after a while. Very unique mechanics, but super, super empty world. Maybe the sequels would be better as I have heard better things about it.Updated 2.5 Weeks Ago

I usually play games for the story but the story of this game is all over the place and laughable hahah What kept me playing was of course the gravity mechanics, which were hard in the beginning but got "less hard" at the end.I usually don't care about combat and if you do, do not play this game. It's only kicking on the floor or kicking while "flying"... it's repetitive and simple but I don't mind it so I had fun even when I'd miss an enemy and fly pass it hahah
I'll play the DLCs, the second game, see if there is more to the story that I missed it but overall, if you want story, there is nothing concrete but if you want fun outside of combat, there is plenty.
Edit: I played the DLCs and they filled some story gaps. Collecting a lot of other trophies was fine but I'm reading to move to the next game without the Platinum after 6 more hours after beating the main game in 8 hours.

I started winding down my playthrough when I was getting sick of the waves of enemies. Finished up the main story after doing almost all challenges, and all the DLC missions. Spent a lot of time collecting Precious Gems as well, I got and surpassed the 40,000 gems for the Gold trophy. After beating the game, spent a couple extra minutes finding all of the Mysterious Travelers.Updated 3.5 Months Ago

Commands can sometimes get clunky, very few scenarios where the mission objective wasn't explicitly stated throughout its duration. The ending gives more questions than answers, apart from that, it has a really great soundtrack and a very distinctive art direction for its time.

This world and the characters are really interesting. Generally speaking I liked the gameplay, but when the gravity kick misses it's really annoying. The pacing of the story is also kind of weird. We barely know the main villain until he's already enacted his plan. The game also could have used some more voice acting. Besides those things though, this game was great.Updated 5.5 Months Ago

Gravity Rush is a one-of-a-kind. Everything about this game is super creative. I can’t think of any other game that’s like it. But it’s not for everyone. You either love or hate the gravity mechanics. Once you get the hang of it, everything will fall into place.I’ve played both the PS Vita and PS4 versions. They’re both great and worth checking out. There were no performance issues at all.
The story is really good and will make you care about the main character. As you progress through the story, you gain access to additional information about the world. There are ample side stories and content available if you desire. I found the final boss to be a satisfying encounter and well worth the effort.
Overall, excellent game and it’s not too long. JapanStudio did well this title and Bluepoint for the remastered content.
Pros
Excellent soundtrack
Creative world
Nice art style
Cons
Disorienting gravity mechanics
Gameplay can be repetitive with combat.

Finally figured out why this one was left to obscurity. They had good movement and they did absolutely nothing with it. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a beautiful system for movement combined with such awful camera, combat, and side content. Beautiful colour scheme throughout though.
Hopefully my experience with the second game is better.

I really didn’t like this game. I played it all the way through, and it didn’t turn me off of it completely in its short runtime, which is about the only good thing. The comic panel cutscenes were a nice touch. The story: pretty nonsensical. Almost as bad as Nier Automata, but it hung together a little better and didn’t take forever. But it was plagued with the same non-sequiturs, unexplained bits of worldbuilding, and characters that have unconvincing motivations and actions.
The gameplay: the gravity mechanic is interesting, but I feel the execution was poor. For the amount of platformer-like action in the game, the hit boxes on everything were too large, and the controls were too sloppy. You’d go to land on a platform but you’d hit lamppost and it would ruin your fall, which usually didn’t matter but during combat this was annoying. Also during combat, you’d go for a gravity kick and miss, and then you’d be flying for a bit before the cancel button would work to stop your fall. The combat was also very boring, gravity kick is pretty much the only attack worth using, so combat encounters mostly consisted of spamming that over and over until the enemies were gone.
Overall, I probably should have given up about 3 hours in and just read the plot synopsis to satisfy my need to know the story, despite how inane it ended up being.

A fun idea, but an okay game. I had fun with it, but I rushed it through the end. It also gets a bit of time to get used to the main mechanic (if you have motion sickness, maybe sit this one out, you won't miss much anyway). Combat is too repetitive (get in "gravity statis" then gravity kick, goodbye) and mission objectives are not varied enough. Challenge mission are plain boring.
Also, story is completely useless (but it was not the main focus of the game).

Updated 1 Year Ago

This is a very unique game that looks and plays exceptionally well especially considering its both 8 years old and a remaster. It is a great twist on the steam punk and fantasy genre and pulls in on some of those classic JRPG themes and stylesArt - 4/5 - This game is visualy amazing. The details around every corner are suprising considering botht the age and the remastered status, but it felt well thought out an planned. the costure and character designs align well and are visualy interesting (if a bit scantily clad in places) and ive a distinct feel to the main players of the game. there are districts of the city you are in and each does well to follow a design and lay out theme that helps give the city a certain depth that feels real
Story -3/5 - the story is really facinating, pulling in loads of questions on the hows and whys of what is happening. One big problem I had is this game is laid out knowing there was going to be a second one - so just playing this one does not really give any tangiable answers to what is going on. you kind of just reach the end of the this games section and thats sort of it.
Gameplay - 3/5 - the gravity mechanic is really unique and I had alot of fun with it in flying around - rocketing people off in all directions and crash landing to the groung. I did find though that upgrading the speed of how you move in your zero gravity mode started to make it difficult to control especially when using your gravity attacks. it can also be a little clunky when moving aroung in tighter spaces often making it easier to just run
Music - 4/5 - I really enjoyed the music and sound design for this game. each area of the city has its own soundtrack to help deepen the theme they have and the music to me was very reminisent of kingdom hearts. lots of orchestral acompanaments that make sense for the areas ytou are in. the voice acting was alos good - even though its not through the entire game. the spoken sections are it the games own language that mixes japanese and french rhythms to create monolouge that almost sound like a real language but just different enough it sets off your curiosity
Enjoyment - 5/5 - I really liked playing this game and would so very often get side tracked with side missions and challenges to make sure i was playing every aspect of the game. it is one i can see myself attempting to 100% at somepoint and deffinately a series I will continue with. It is a perfect game for anyone looking to shake up their usual games and that are looking for something unique and fun

It's hard to overstate the amount of things about Gravity Rush that I absolutely love. The art style is phenomenal, the music is terrific, the characters, (especially Kat), are immensely charming, the world/levels are wonderfully designed, and the gravity-based gameplay, while occasionally disorientating, ultimately works really well, both in exploration and combat.
While there are a few problems with this game, most of which deriving from the fact that it used to be a Vita exclusive, and thus sometimes feels like it doesn't quite utilize the PS4's power / file sizes, this game is just a cozy little romp through Hekseville, interspersed with some truly 'woah' moments.

I'd heard this was a hidden gem, and it absolutely lived up to that description. The combat felt a little weak since ground combat is pretty irrelevant and aerial combat is basically one attack at a time. But the platforming is great and there's more story than expected.Updated 1.5 Years Ago

"Maybe none of this is real. Maybe its all just an illusion and we're just figments of someones imagination."
Every now and then a game comes along so magical in nature it makes you forget what you were doing, your only pressing thought to just play more and more of it. So grand it makes you ignore all of its faults. So exciting it makes you stop thinking about the complexity of its mechanics or storytelling techniques. So special it stops you looking behind the curtain.
Gravity Rush Remastered is one of those very experiences. With its expert movement and a stunning world to soar around in. It's comic book style cutscenes, the persistent self conscious comments from Kat and the abrasive cast of characters surrounding her. This game is a one of a kind special, the type that brings you back to being a child and feeling every game was tailor made just for you.
It feels... grand, in ways I can't even explain. Maybe it's the dreary atmosphere brought about by the games agressive LOD system, only allowing far off islands to be shrouded in darkness. Or the world itself, one of cascading complexity, lingering in the sky in a place it surely doesn't belong. The zero gravity flights from place to place as Kat's hair dangles in the wind. Constant referencing to dreams, magical figures who speak in riddles or hints about a kingdom above. The whole experience is shrouded in adventure, mystery and more importantly, beauty.
Considering this is a PSVita title, I cannot begin to believe or compute how a game like this was created for such a tiny device. Yes, the cracks do show as mentioned before with low LOD, texture quality not befitting of its resolution and background characters/buildings not being very detailed. But all of this doesn't matter, even in the remaster because the undeniable style and creativity of it all more than quashes that lack of 'cutting edge'.
I adore the cast and their mini occasional anime-esque exaggerations, jokes and flirtation. I adore the movement and combat systems, with special abilities that actually feel special. I loved every moment flying, making micro adjustments during my flights as I navigated these densely designed townscapes. I enjoyed trying my hands at challenges designed to test my knowledge of the movement mechanics, improving with every one. I wholeheartedly loved every minute of my 13 or so hour playthrough. I only wish it were longer.
10/10. A best in class adventure game.

This game is just a great little package. It hands you a versatile movement mechanic, gives you plenty of opportunities to experiment with it in a variety of unique challenges, and directly ties in a Saturday morning cartoon narrative with plenty of hidden depth. Now, because it is so one-of-a-kind, it seems like the developers had a bit of difficulty balancing everything out with the missions and challenges. For example, early in the game there's a stealth mission, but since you can literally fly around and over everything, there's pretty much no excuse for getting caught. Some story missions and challenge levels impose limitations to force you to get creative with your playstyle, but most of the time I just chained gravity kicks and breezed through everything.
Also, as much as I did like the plot, the whole game is like a JJ Abrams mystery box: for every question that gets answered, it introduces two more questions. The conclusion isn't super satisfying--it feels more like a mid-season finale than a proper ending. When I thought the breadcrumbs were building up to something climactic, I was happy to go along with it, but the third act throws a time skip and brand new Big Bads at you, so it ends up feeling lopsided.

If I was to assign a genre to Gravity Rush, I would say it was an action platformer with RPG elements. You play as a character called Kat with unique Gravity shifting powers that she uses for traversal and combat. These gravity powers make for some very interesting variations on gameplay. It is a completely new way of travelling, as you aim your reticule where you want to go and you "fall in that direction". There are lots of speed challenges where precision is required meaning that is very satisfying to master the shifting powers. It is very easy to get disorientated, but I really like this as it can force you to slow down and think, while putting you more in the shoes of Kat. A way to tell which direction is down, is by looking at which direction Kat's hair is facing, a really nice attention to detail which adds to gameplay in an intuitive way. Gravity shifting powers offer lots of different tactics and moves for combat which are very fun to experiment with as you progress throughout the game. Unfortunately Gravity kick is by far the most useful, so I found myself having use to different different moves for the sake of using different moves. The game allows you to collect gems that are placed everywhere in order to level things such as the power of your moves, health bar and time you can spend floating. It is very simple levelling up system, but I think it fits well as it gives reason to explore and the satisfaction of getting stronger, without being needlessly complicated for the type if game Gravity Rush is. There are lots of side missions and challenges that can unlock gems, which are entirely optional but I found to be good fun. Unfortunately on the whole the game is too easy. Most of the time, enemies aren't aggressive at all so pose very little threat, and I barely died throughout the game. The game as a whole is also quite short, it took me about 18 hours to platinum it, and that was on my first playthrough.
For the most part the story is enjoyable. Dialogue is told through text based, comic style conversations which have no meaningful voice acting as it's in a made up language and there are a few cutscenes. The script is generally well written as it is engaging and often funny. I found the characters very likeable on the whole, especially Kat, and the story has lots of interesting elements. But the main problem with the story is that is fails to wrap up a lot of these elements. It introduces lots of new aspects throughout, but ends very abruptly leaving many unanswered questions and loose ends. At the time of writing, it is unknown whether these will be addressed in the sequel.
The game is presented extremely well. The cell shaded artstyle looks fantastic, and the locations are interesting and varied, one of my favourites being a platforming focused level with fungi styled platforms set in space. Character and enemy designs can also be very creative. It's a shame the game doesn't have a better draw distance as you often can't see very far into the distance as you fly through the world, however this is understandable since the game was originally made for the Vita. The soundtrack is also good, with lots of upbeat and energetic songs that can immerse you in the action.
On the whole Gravity Rush is completely worth it. I found myself consistently having fun with the gameplay, and wanting to see more of the world. The flaws are quite notable, but these are largely outweighed by the fun aspects of the game and how unique it is.

What did I think about the ---> Story: Above Average (as it felt underdeveloped, especially in the final few episodes) | Gameplay: Great (but repetitive at times, yet personally it's fun) | Graphics: Very Good | Music: Very Good | Characters: Good (but most characters feel meh or underdeveloped, excluding Kat and a few others)Additional thoughts ---> Storytelling: Below Average | Worldbuilding: Average | DLC: Average (as it felt too short) | Artstyle: Great
P.S. The gameplay's not for everyone (it's quite fun IMO), as it does feel clunky at times.

In spite of piles of shortcomings, I find Gravity Rush to be quite a fun, engaging action-adventure in a thoroughly unique setting. The gravity alteration mechanic is such a cool concept it elevates the game beyond the limits of its shoddy execution. It feels fresh and liberating soaring through the skies, anchoring to any flat surface, running upside down or against walls. Too bad only the traversal itself matters, since the open world it takes place in is so bereft of things to do.The missions themselves vary from decent to frustratingly bad, with those annoying escort quests being the bottom of the barrel. Also, combat is seriously marred by horrible hitboxes that could reduce the most patient saint to a rage quit. The combat is very clunky, with a haphazard lock-on mechanic and sluggish aerial combat. Among a handful, one particular aerial kick is the only viable option in most fights. The RPG mechanics allow you to level up all your skills, but there's no reason to improve more than a few because so few of them matter.
I like the story and, above all, the protagonist, Kat, and a few other characters. Kat is charming, cute, and almost too gullible at times, but nevertheless a very uplifting and good-natured heroine that is probably what elevates the game above the run-of-the-mill action game. As the end credits roll, much of the world is still unexplained and seeped in mystery. I like it that way. It also feels kinda liberating not having more than a few pointless side challenges and stories to plow through. It's a straightforward game about moving around in not-so-straightforward ways in a strange, big ol' city with weird architecture.
Nice but not unmissable.

Gravity Rush is an awesome game in regards to the story, characters and the world design. How much you will enjoy the gameplay however will hugely depend on how good you manage to master the controle scheme, which is unlike anything I have seen in other games. While I loved the main missions and exploring the world to collect gems, some of the tasks in the side missions and challenges where very dependent on having perfect control over your movement and I have to be honest - I struggled with that quit a bit even until the end of the game. Often Kat would attach herself to the "wrong" surfaces, attacks would miss without any clear reason and the camera would flip around like crazy in close environments. Also the game is a bit harsh on "caging" you into a corridor between the start of a section and it's finish (on gravity races, but also when fighting enemies) and punish you for leaving this area (which boarders have no visual indication) with teleporting you back to the start. All these are minor complaints if you just want to play the story, but they may give you a headache if you plan to 100% the game.
With a more intuitive control scheme and better camera controls this would have been a 90% score for me, but as it is I give it a (still very good) 80%
