Very short go on this arcade classic, I didn’t have time to get some practice in but this is tougher than some other arcade games I’ve played recently. Simple concept really, dodge the traffic and get the frog to the other side!

The specific version on Xbox Live Arcade has some weird hitboxes, but overall it sure is a Frogger.Updated 5.5 Months Ago

An early 80's classic that was based on an Atari game called Space Race. It spawned a series of games that somehow still continues today. Guide a frog past 5 lanes of traffic then over 5 lanes of a river and into his home. Then do it 4 more times and go to the next level. Even today there's something alluring and archetypal about it. It would be a pretty weird game if it wasn't already ingrained in our digital culture. It's sometimes a little slow and you have a weird hopping motion, but you get to escape real death and those little froggies are so cute.
As a historical game, it's definitely worth checking out. It's still very playable, but those high scores aren't going to interest most modern gamers.

Um jogo simples que funciona muito bem pra época e se tornou um clássico justamente pela sua simplicidade de ser um sapo atravessando a rua, e isso ser um gameplay q funciona, inspirando também diversos jogos.Nota: 6/10 (★★★) - Legal

ReviewNot too bad for the time, but doesn't make me want to keep playing to improve my score. Movement is a bit quirky (especially if compared with the arcade version). Not really fun for more than a couple minutes in 2024.

ReviewNot a bad port, looks, sounds, and controls substantially better than the Atari 2600 version -- still quite behind the arcade original.
Seems substantially harder than the arcade and 2600 versions. Things seem to move faster, and the difficulty level goes up much quicker, too (for example, cars getting faster every couple frogs get home, instead of only between completed levels).
Slightly non-standard controls: you need to move the joystick and press the button to move. I don't know why they require the button press.

ReviewGood one. Still kind of fun to play in 2024, but of course lacks the variety of gameplay we expect nowadays, so gets old fast. Still, I feel some urge (not a lot!) to play again and try to improve my high score. The core mechanic is simple enough, but there are several secondary mechanics tossed in, like alligators inside the frogs house. Possibly due to some of these secondary mechanics, I have died a couple of times and didn't understand why.
Controls are good, pretty responsive. Graphics are nice (that's 1981!) and the music sounds like proper music (I have never played Frogger on a real arcade machine, so my memories are from versions like the Atari 2600 in which the sound is quite worse).
Abstract analysis / ludemes
Essentially, in the bottom half of the screen we are trying to avoid obstacles; in the upper half we are trying to go through "passages" (i.e., I am seeing the river as a large wall with some moving passages).
* 4-way movement.
* Horizontally moving obstacles.
* Die when colliding with an obstacle.
* Horizontally moving passages.
* Die when missing a passage (and thus hitting a wall).
* Passages that open and close periodically.

An old game that gets boring really quickly. It's also just not that fun to begin with (don't kill me Frogger fans).Updated 3 Years Ago

It is what it is; you're a frog crossing the road. It's fun for a little while, but not something I would put another quarter into for a replay.Updated 5 Years Ago

Frogger has always been one of my favourite games to play if I have a spare few minutes, but dont have enough time to play a bigger game. Watch out for cars, dont fall in the river and have a great time!!Updated 6.5 Years Ago

Similar to my last review (Kaboom!) Frogger is a jumping off point , in this case for Konami, that with its success helped push the developer into ultimately big and brighter things. With unique gameplay and style Frogger grabbed audiences and took its place among early eighties classics. A simple goal with a complex solution for its day that requires planning and nice sprite work are the main draws of the 2600 version with some lagging and unclear hitboxes hindering the game a bit.Full Review -- https://bigbacklog.blogspot.ca/2015/05/frogger-review.html

It's fun while it last, really short you can achieve 100% in like 20-40 minutes, don't buy it.Updated 13 Years Ago
