You could use the notes section as a worst case scenario. You put that Street Fighter game in and then the notes textbox put your ratings for both versions. It's can be annoying but the practice in the old days of games with the same name of having widly different versions already makes discussion on those titles very confusing.

Some game ports are really different from each other, especially older ones. Like Street Fighter: The Movie (arcade) and Street Fighter: The Movie (console). This kinda bothers me, because I like rating all the games I play and then organizing them into collections by score. But I can’t add two versions of the same game, so even if I want to give them the same rating, I can’t put them both in the same collection. Only one gets added. And since games that aren’t publicly listed can’t be added either, I just can’t do it. Honestly, it’s pretty frustrating for me.

Why does budget matter? You can make a good game regardless of how much money was put into the production. The indie scene has risen in popularity because of this. You also seem think to not having combat as good as those games and being trash are the same thing when they are not.

I understand, but I think the budget is important because some games try to act like big AAA games even though they aren't actually on that scale. It's like trying to make GTA 5 with a $5 million budget. The result doesn't feel like a completely independent game, but it's not AAA quality either. Still, I agree with you, it's not right to call a game trash just because its combat system isn't top-notch. If a game is playable and can be completed, it has value. But for me, GOW (2005) still feels overrated.

I've seen a fair number of people call God of War 2005 a not so good game. Comparing God of War unfavourbly to DMC's combat is pretty commonplace too. You also say GOW's gameplay is "bad" for it's time but compared to DMC clones like Spawn Armageddon and Nightmare Before Christmas Ooogie's Revenge, it's not the worst thing ever.

I think the games you mentioned aren’t really comparable to God of War (2005), because their production budgets were very different. Games like DMC3, Ninja Gaiden, and Onimusha 3 had budgets closer to God of War and were also better games. If we ignore the budget, you could already list a thousand hack and slash games worse than God of War there’s always a worse game for every title. But a game that’s both close in budget and worse than God of War is probably only Chaos Legion. In my opinion, the quality difference between God of War and Chaos Legion isn’t as drastic as a 6 versus 9 score, at least.

God of War series is overrated, but especially God of War (2005) is incredibly overrated. The only parts I’d call average are the boss fights and QTEs. Everything else is terrible; the gameplay is very poor. You might say “it was good for its time,” but God of War (2005) came out just one month after DMC 3. I think that alone clearly shows how bad the game is, even for its time.

I'm literally begging at this point please don’t put 'Emulated' under the 'Platform' section. Instead, add it as a checkbox under 'Optional Tags' or move it from 'Platform' to 'Storefront'. This has been my biggest request from HLTB for years because the 'Emulated' label is genuinely confusing. I want to differentiate between games I've completed on a real PS1 and those I've finished via emulation. But when I check the stats, I can’t see how much time I’ve spent on actual PS1 games. So please, at the very least, add it to the 'Optional Tags' section I’m begging you.

I wish the collection section was more useful. For example, it would be great to see how many games in our collection we have completed, our completion times, total and average playtime, the average score we gave to the games in our collection, and even the average scores given by the community. I think it would be a great improvement.

I have two Elden Ring playthroughs listed here. It would be great if the playtimes for these games could be combined and displayed as a total duration (e.g., 139 hours 50 minutes). In my opinion, these should be shown as one game. Similarly, when viewing the "All Time" section, rather than seeing the same long game completed five times by a person, these playthroughs should be grouped together under a single entry. Additionally, for a shorter game like Portal 1, even if it is completed 150 times, it would make more sense for it to be displayed as one game at the top. The ranking system in the "Most Played" section is excellent, as it evaluates both Main and Progress categories simultaneously. It would be fantastic if this ranking system could also be applied to the Games section. Finally, the changes in the Stats section are visually very good looking. thank you!

There is still a long way to the end of the year, but how nice it would be if you added the recap feature on Spotify or Steam to this site, what I gave the highest score to during the year, the games we played for the longest time, etc.

We have discussed moving Emulated to the Storefront field so you are forced to pick the Platform version of the game. How do you feel about that?

I guess something like (played on) will systematically cause problems as a different category is added to the database, but at least moving it to the storefornt section would be an incredibly positive thing.

I think 1, 2 and 3 are good ideas. I'm pretty sure some of those were mentioned before too and might be in the admin's to-do list already. I'm sure the collection feature is still gonna see changes and additions since it's so young.

I think 4 might be the most difficult because games aren't actually... "connected" in the database. So, it would need a way to determine games as sequels first and doing that retroactively to every game ever added seems like a massive task to me.

#7 is a bit tricky, in my opinion. Because it's debatable on when/how to use the "emulator" platform tag anyway. I think it's just a legacy option for people that prefer to tag their playthroughs that way but a lot of people don't use it at all. I don't because I choose the platform that the game was originally released on. Because if I emulate a PS1 game, I'm still playing a PS1 game. I never thought "emulator" makes sense as a separate platform choice in that dropdown menu. So, I agree it could need a change.

There are three sites where we can archive games, and the best site among them is HLTB. However, HLTB is missing some basic features.

1. It would be great if there were an indicator showing what percentage of a collection we have completed when we look at any collection.

2. It would be great if there were an indicator of how many hours it took to complete any game in that collection when we look at it.

3. It would be great if, when looking at any collection, there was an indicator of how much time we've spent on the games in that collection.

4. The franchise system, for example, when we go to the BG2 page, it would be great to be able to see the prequels and sequels and their release dates, similar to MAL.

5. I also noticed a change in the interface design. I think the current interface looks a bit cumbersome. The tabs in the "Edit Details" section are very well-designed.

Don't misunderstand I have no intention of criticizing the site. I just want it to develop further because I use it fondly.

I believe that BG3 should be the Game of the Year because, even though The Legend of Zelda (TLOZ) is an excellent game, it follows a familiar formula and has had many iterations. On the other hand, BG3 has revitalized the C-RPG genre by bringing something fresh and new.
