I think I have a winner here. Dai Senryaku VII Exceed. It's pretty hard to beat being more underrated when it's a 20 year old game and I'm literally the only person on the entire website to complete it. It's not even like this is a mobile or browser game, this is a game that was on actual hardware. It's a turn based RTS that apparently fell into the abyss of time. Quite surprised, it had a lot going for it, full stage editors in PS2 games aren't something you see everyday.

I don't care if this is 8 years old, THIS SHALL BE REVIVED.

Most overrated game ever: Goldeneye 007. Everything. Bad controls, bad level design, horrific framerate and shooting (even for N64 standards), combined with over the top TAS times dealing with this crap to 100% equals pure pain

Most overrated game compared to the rest of it's series: Final Fantasy VII. Please Square, stop praising VII, PLEASE, I'm sick of seeing it and the game was only meh and rushed to the point one of the magic defense stats on gear don't even work

Most overrated franchise: Pokemon, ESPECIALLY on Nintendo handhelds. It's all I ever see, and the games aren't even that great, just random luck based children's RPG

Most overrated company: Rare. Bring up one thing about Xbox and they lose their minds. Besides, I thought they were better during their SNES days than N64 by miles

Most overrated console: N64 & Gamecube. Half the N64 library is praised as a holy grail when they have god only knows what controls on a spider controller and almost every first party Gamecube game was rushed out the door yet somehow still get astronomical appraise (Wind Waker, Melee, Sunshine)

Time to watch the world BURN

I thought this was going to be a ratio of most difficult game compared to money spent. Anyways difficulty should not matter even if it extends your playtime. Just because a game is shorter doesn't mean it's worse, neither does longer mean better. You play games for fun, even if completion is part of it. Shorter games tend to open up more opportunity for replays and challenge runs rather than long games. Me personally for games with difficulty settings I usually set it to the highest I can handle, I like a good challenge but not to the point I can't make it past the first level.

Finished it 100%. If there's anything I noticed about Kingdom Hearts at this point, your attack button will never feel the same after playing them from so much mashing lol. If you want to see my full review it's in the reviews.

Complete extremist here, never even had a modern console since the 3DS came out. Instead I went backwards in time and ended up building a collection of almost every major console. What originally drew me into it back then was the rise of microtransactions and online, something I always hated. Another reason was that I was interested in playing older games in series I liked. The biggest reason of all had (and has) to be that once the systems are obtained, it's SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper that modern gaming. Old Nintendo stuff tends to be expensive, but Sony & Xbox tend to be dirt cheap with games rarely going over $20 and I can even find the stuff at yard sales for stupidly cheap. Ah, if only I was going for expensive stuff like Silent Hill & Gamecube back then, would've made a fortune in profit as they weren't as expensive back then. I only bought a PS4 and Xbone this year as they're actually super cheap now, physical versions of the games are laughably cheap, most people are trying to get rid of them.

Ah, Kingdom Hearts 1, I'd be up for that. I heard the original is literally famous for unskipable cutscenes lol. I've done two of the side games, 358/2 Days (still don't know how you say it) and Birth By Sleep, but never any of the main games. Currently doing a game right now but as soon as I finish it I'll do it. I like doing one game at a time until it's finished, probably a great mindset to be honest. I'll let you know my thoughts when I finish it, but don't expect that for a WHILE as it's a long game and I tend to be a completionist haha. Going to be nice playing a proper ARPG after Pokemon Rumble, ugh, that was not very good.

Ah, I already did Majora's Mask on the 3DS many times, the original is just listed there to play one day instead, should probably be classified as replay haha. 3DS version is awesome, mostly because of the glitches that were accidentally added, especially restricted items. That glitch alone causes total chaos lol, fierce deity anywhere, crash the game with giant's mask, normal link using a powder keg, Goron missile glitch, good times.

Should probably pick something else from my backlog instead due to that case.

I tend to be extremely cross platform, usually all over the place, but there are definitely consoles I use more than others.

1st: Nothing. Who even plays this? This is just historical collectors items
2nd: Atari 2600
3rd: NES, who doesn't agree
4th: SNES, also who doesn't agree
5th: PS1. Really hate the N64 controller
6th PS2. Best controller out of all the consoles and a library I'm STILL finding new games on
7th Wii. Best local multiplayer ever, almost every single game is split screen, amazing with friends
8th: PS4. Xbox One has a bs system for backing up save data I hate and it doesn't even feel like you own the stuff. Wii U games are good, but the system definitely wasn't. Gamepad is even worse than the N64 controller
9th: I have no modern consoles. Well, PS4 & One are still modern but you know what I mean.

Yeah, Chrono Trigger is extremely impressive, especially for it's time. What shocked me the most had to be no random encounters in an SNES game, I usually don't see that until PS2 titles. You should see how much original copies go for, at least $200.

Edit: Ah crap I realized I forgot to put console in the title, looks like you can't edit or delete it either. Well anyways, why not both then? Favorite game and console from each.

Me and one of my friends always get into arguments over the PS2 and Gamecube, so often that's it's actually hilarious. Thought it'd be fun to make a post about this, but instead of just those, why not every generation? List your favorite console from each one (doesn't have to be specific to the list, can be anything, I just list well known ones. Note that handhelds are not counted.

List of major consoles from each generation
1st: Odyssey, honestly I know barely any consoles from this time and I doubt anyone even plays them. Might as well skip it
2nd: Atari 2600, Colecovision, Intellivistion
3rd: NES, Sega Master System
4th: SNES, Sega Genesis
5th: N64, PS1, Sega Saturn
6th: Gamecube, PS2, Sega Dreamcast, Xbox
7th: Wii, PS3, Xbox 360
8th: Wii U, PS4, Xbox One
9th: Switch, PS5, Xbox Series
10th: I think the Switch 2 falls under here judging by release date comparison, but no other consoles were released yet.

Ah, I got a famously hated game on this one. Mario Party Island Tour, often considered one of the worst Mario Party's, but it does have one saving grace: The Bowser board. Island Tour is known for having extremely bad board design, but this one was an exception. Instead of racing to the end, whoever gets to the end first loses and gets sent flying off into the distance from Bowser's hammer. As you can imagine, not only is this unique but it also creates a lot of funny moments in multiplayer.

"How the hell are you still at the start"
"Damn it 12?"
(With first time players) "Yay I got a gold dice!"
Being cheap with the touchscreen to almost always get doubles watching your friends rage

Watching the reaction of people when they confront Bowser is funny too, as it's random chance if you survive. Even funnier if it happens to be Bowser Jr., you see Bowser hit his own son with no regrets lol.

Usually just on how fun I found each game and comparing to ratings I gave other games, this seems to be the pattern:

100%: Best game of each year
90%: Amazing
80%: Great
70%: Good, average I guess but still fun
60%: Mixed
50%: Very mixed or I just barely had fun with it, but somehow still got at least some enjoyment out of it. This is usually the lowest rating I'll play a game at
40%: Bad
30%: Shameless shovelware
20%: Oh god how does a game this bad even exist
10%: Sweet mother in christ burn this game to oblivion

Usually very rarely rate below 50% or even 60% as it's not often I play games I hate, why would I?

@Fire_Fox Chrono Trigger, it's what I considered the best game I played last year, and I played a LOT of games. I think my backlog's going to give someone a stroke, it's almost entirely old school stuff and I somehow manage to keep up with an even amount of games beaten as backlogged. Also forgot to PM, still kind of new to the forums.

Never had a Dreamcast and don't plan on it as it's really expensive and at least 90% of the library was ported to the other 3 consoles (PS2, Xbox, & Gamecube). I know the original Soul Calibur is exclusive to it, but one game that was originally a DC game I played was Grandia II.

The collections seem like such an underused part of the website due to how much of a pain it is to import games to them. Having to go one by one on the actual game's page takes FOREVER. Personally I think it'd be great if there were ways to mass import to them via tabs, such as everything from a specific console or tab straight into a collection. Would also be nice if there was a quick way to add it via the game in the games page or even the edit page. A button to add all games viable by the current list filters would be useful as well, could add mass amounts of games from franchises through search or a specific console at once.

Also, personally I love using this site as a randomizer. One feature I would LOVE to have are some more sort options in the list section of games. #completions, #backlogs, retirement rate, heck even a random sort would be neat for a chain randomizer. Right now the only game options are rating, release, alphabetical, and time to beat which is pretty limited.

Pretty much as the title says. What are some games that are normally hated that you enjoy, both new and old? Thought this would be a fun one to bring up.

So apparently I'm a huge retro game collector and I love exposing myself to as many different kinds of games as possible, especially weird ones. As you can imagine, over the years I've built up quite the mass of games, but the thing is, the variety is extreme as I'm unbelievably cross platform and generation. A while before I started the account, I decide to use a randomizer for what game I'd play next. This turned out to be much more fun and addicting than I was expecting, it would often pull out games I probably never would've that I end up falling in love with and the surprise of not knowing what's next only makes it even more. Like I said, I was doing this even before How Long to Beat, I made a document with every single game I see myself playing and would put it into one of those online randomizer wheels. Of course I didn't keep any of the shovelware on the list, as that would be awful. I've been doing this for so long now I even have a rule set for it:

1. No double replays. I replay games a LOT, especially love doing challenge runs. I mean, if you enjoyed it, why wouldn't you want to do it again? Anyways, this rule bans two replays in a row. If a game was a replay, the next has to be a new one
2. No chaining games from the same series in a row. This is more because I tend to be a 100% kind of guy, and usually by the time I finish a game I'm bored with it and want to move onto something else anyways. I don't think I could ever possibly chain two Final Fantasies in a row.
3. If the game is a replay but there is a game from the same series I never beat, do the game I never beat instead. Why replay the game if you have another one you didn't do yet?
4. No replaying a game that was just beaten recently. Pretty self explanatory, this one is more of my own judgement depending on how much I liked the game and how long it's been, though a year counts as long enough regardless.

I cannot describe how much I enjoy doing this, I still use it and don't plan on stopping haha. So many games I ended up liking and so many different kinds of games played, it's great. Of course sometimes I do pick games myself like if I get my hands on something I really want or that, this is more of for when I don't know what to play next or have too many different options to pick from which is the case 99% of the time.

So usually when I finish a game that I plan on redoing (maybe a different ending or second quest I can go for), I mark it as both completed and replay. This has always worked out fine, but today I noticed something odd. In the past, doing this would not have the replay icon next to the completed title or time, but now it will do it automatically regardless, which obviously isn't the case. I proved this is only happening now as I just did another game last month with the same case, and it didn't have the replay icon on it while in both the replays and completed tab. When I simply disabled the replayed and enabled it again, there it was, it now had the replay icon, something that wasn't the case before.

I'm not surprised at seeing everyone freaking out at the prices. The console price and first party game prices make sense to be honest, but the ports being the same cost as the new games is madness, especially for the ones that clearly took no effort like the games that were already on the normal Switch and probably just put through an upscaler.

I haven't bought anything modern since the 3DS, basically a retro lunatic now. When microtransactions started becoming popular around the PS4 time I couldn't stand it and instead just stuck to my old systems. As time went on I eventually became a collector of the old stuff, pretty much all generations and all companies, rather than just the typical Nintendo guys. Best part is and the reason I probably did and still do it, it's UNBELIEVABLY cheaper than modern gaming once you get all the hardware. Sure, I miss out on the entirety of modern and new releases, but I can also get like 10 games for $150 or something like that, depending on what I'm buying. It helps even further that many of my favorite systems like the PS2 and Wii rank among the cheapest games in the market. Really the only modern stuff I pay attention to is some small indie stuff and that's it. To this day my newest console still is a 3DS, people's reactions when I say that are priceless.

Personally I love the stats page, especially when sorting by release date and seeing the years all the games came out. The thing is, I'm a huge retro game collector and would love to use this to see the years of all the games I own, which would be backlog + unique (unique completions) + retired on physical, but you can't use tags on the sort option, only completed games.

I actually have a strict logic for this. I go by whatever the actual copy/version of the game I have is made for. For example, playing a PS1 game disc on a PS2 still counts as PS1, meanwhile playing a PS1 game on a PS2 compilation disc on a PS2 would be PS2 (Mega Max X4 in X Collection). As for digital releases, I go by what I'm on, which essentially is the same as the logic before. So if I'm playing Chrono Trigger on the Wii Virtual console, I'll count it as the Wii version, it is still an official release after all. Any unofficial version of the game I would mark as emulated. Personally I always liked this logic as sometimes even straight up ports have slight differences.

So well by this logic, it would just fall under Atari 2600.
