My friend tried to vote and it gave her an error twice. I think she got it through on the third try but we hadn’t had an error like that previously.

Dino Crisis had some decent votes last time…

Finally playing Kraken Academy after having it queued for so long. Surprised to find that it’s essentially campy Majora’s Mask.

Looks like the steam sales peaked higher since this was posted. Whether it met your projections or not, (I don’t have the data for other storefronts) still an amazing release.

The credits have been rolled! While I did stick with emulation as I already had some progress I didn’t start save stating until the last area of the game. Would I have been able to clear it without it? I think so, but it definitely would have taken me a lot longer. Particularly after I had cleared the first section of the meat circus and saved to pick it up the next day, only to find that loading put me at the beginning of the level (luckily I had a backup).

From my own experience the controls were a bit iffy when it came to platforming. I often slid off platforms unintentionally and thought some spots were just unreachable, but it was usually a height/gliding issue. Never did fully master telekinesis… the command is simple but either I couldn’t grab it, it didn’t land, or it just dropped. And there was that time where I got the garbage can stuck to Cruller’s head.

But I did like the game. It was a creative little adventure and Raz is a likable character. I’m surprised how dark the lore got; how simple the slideshows were somehow added to how eerie it was. Maybe because there was no background sound but the effect would have been different if it had been animated. And the levels were successful psycho therapy for the most part, a lot of NPCs are better off mentally by the end. I’d play this again, but I wouldn’t want to go into the last level without save states.

This makes some sense, before I started using save states I found myself wondering how much how much QA it got.

I reached it today.

This is why save states were invented.

Most Overrated Game?

Like some others here, j guess I’d also say Final Fantasy VII. I did like it and still have Crisis Core + the remakes queued up. But… I guess with the legacy this game has I had a predefined expectation that fell a little under once I finished. I feel like those who played it when it first came out praise it the most and that might be the issue; I probably just had to be there with everyone else experiencing the game for the first time. While I hadn’t known all of the details (one twist that I got to experience for myself was very good) I was aware of most of them that I just wasn’t as affected. It didn’t help that many gaming reviews felt like they need to compare to it as a sort of standard.

So perhaps just a little “overrated” for me, but definitely respect the praise from others who place it as a favorite. Even though it’s the game with the looping frog curse.

Managed to start the game after a few snags.

PS4 version - Surprisingly bad performance.
GOG version - Runs fantastic but could not get the right joystick to act as the camera and it wouldn't move.
Steam version - Surprisingly crap graphics and the camera moved, but just spun endlessly in a circle.
Emulated - Except for some slightly fuzzy graphics, perfect. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’m not too far in, there was a incident with some squirrels, I’ve been chased by two bears, and have experienced simulated child endangerment. I’ve never been to a summer camp but everyone is acting as if this is the norm so I guess we’re good? I keep getting distracted from my route when we I see purple sparkles so my collecting impulses are getting triggered.

Tomba! 2: The Evil Swine Return - PlayStation 3 - August 30th, 2025
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart - PlayStation 5 - August 24th, 2025
13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim - PlayStation 4 - August 13th, 2025

Not bad for me, I had fun with all three and two were a forum challenge.

I’ve seen this series going on sale every now and then but have been hesitant to jump in as a newcomer… I’m tempted to try this demo though. 🤔

Tomba 2 is done! I did t finish all of the quests but I got a decent play time. If you’re just focusing on the main stuff it’s pretty short so it’s more worthwhile to do the sidequests. I did get used to the controls but the Laughing Crying Forest gave me trouble. I ended up misunderstanding the door mechanism and I didn’t fully understand the grapple mechanics at first but I got through it with a little help. I have two files for before and after the “point of no return” so I can always go back and finish other stuff if I get around to it. Seems like you get a tux for your efforts, which Tomba soon discards anyway. But I had fun!

I’ve made decent progress in Tomba 2. Everything is more 3D than its predecessor and it’s less of a sidescroller now. Which isn’t a bad thing, but sometimes it’s a little klunky when you shift movement perspectives. Sometimes I’ll want to go in a particular direction but when it shifts, the controls remember that I was already moving in a certain direction and I’ll end up going back the way I came. It’s not a game breaker; just a slight annoyance. The platforming also got a bit more floaty. There are certain costumes you can equip that allow you to glide and that’s fantastic as there are a lot of pitfalls with my name on it (didn’t we learn to swim in the last game???). The downside is that when you’re gliding down, you can sort of slide off the platform you were aiming for and it takes a bit more time to proceed.

All this isn’t to say I’m having a bad time; it’s still pretty fun and there’s a lot to do. I’m trying to go everywhere so I’ll often find the key item that I need to proceed before I get to the quest. It helps a lot with backtracking as if I end up with a game over and have to start at the beginning of the area I’ll at least have that done so I can unlock and do more stuff. There’s more variety with character items as well, I find myself switching between equips and there are consumable items for different cures.

It feels really great to play this as at one point many moons ago before emulation was a thing and with its aftermarket price at the time I didn’t think I’d ever get my hands on this game. So currently achieving a mini gamer dream of mine.

But I’m skipping the trolley side quest. Child me would have found it imperative to get it done, adult me with less time no longer agrees. 😅

You finished it fast! 😆 But it looks like you had a great time, glad you had fun! Kingdom Hearts 2 is even better than 1 but there will be more X button spam. And we must remember the triangle button.

Almost done with R&C so hopefully I should be starting Tomba 2 soon. 🤞

Aaaand I’m done, playing Tomba 2 now!

Next up on the shelf is Shatterglass by Tamora Pierce. Which is apparently book 4 in a series of 8. I have just found out this is a series. This is book 40 of the 50 goal for this year.

@e6_4KOkGsp The unskippable scenes were indeed annoying, but the rest of it was fun. Hope you have fun when you get around to it!

@Fireryyo I’m starting a Ratchet & Clank game now but I’ll queue up Tomba 2 right after it. I did love the first one so I think it’ll be a great time.

@NoOne Maybe I should try Yakisoba Pan...🤔

@Ashwinder The Gen 1s actually helped me out a lot. I hoarded the EMPs and boosted their Rush Attack+Demolisher Blades and they were mostly able to handle the bigger Kaiju on their own. The Gen 3s... well, Minami's Wide Railgun was pretty handy. The Stun Knuckles not so much.

@e6_4KOkGsp If you don't object to a different choice, how about trying Kingdom Hearts?

Rollled credits on 13 Sentinels: Aegus Rim after almost exactly a month, what a ride. I was so lost but since then I have learned things…

There was a dog, but then there was a cat

Yakisoba pan

We were going back but really we were going onward

It’s a game

And it was a great game. Glad I went in blind! To continue the thread, e6_4KOkGsp is still up to have a game selected from their backlog.
