Hello everyone,
after going quiet pretty fast on my previous account and not participating on this site as much as I would have liked, I am back and looking forward to be a part of this community (again).
I left my previous blog abandoned a few months ago when, once again, the "choice paralysis" hit me. For a couple years now, I had this recurring issue that made me unable to focus on games. I own hundreds on multiple platforms, and whenever I'd dive into a long-ass RPG, I'd find myself feeling like I was missing out on all the other ones. So I'd switch games, over and over again - leaving dozens unfinished in the process - until a handful would stick over the course of a given year. It's absolutely just a "first world problem", but it exists, and it would make me feel so hopeless every time, so I'd just play Football Manager or nothing at all most of the time.
Fast forward to June, where I decided to play Astro's Playroom on my PS5 again. This time, I thought I'd go for the platinum, since I've gotten recommended YT videos from Trophy Hunters recently and thought that the game was short enough to give it a try. Sure enough, when the platinum trophy popped, I was hooked. Since then, I find myself finishing games left and right. Over a 5-week period, I platinumed Trackmania Turbo, God of War Ragnarök and Far Cry 3, just to name a few. It helped that I was waiting for my job to start in September, so I'd make use of my free time and just play AND BEAT games. I had an incredible time with it too, overcoming the biggest gaming challenge of my life with the Trackmania Turbo Platinum, and playing one of the best games I've ever played in God of War Ragnarök.
Since then, I decided to move back to Steam, since this is where I own hundreds of games and can benefit from better graphics and a higher framerate. I have spent the past two weeks with clean-up of games I was pretty close to getting the 100% on, and thought now that I'm officially a "Steam Achievement Hunter" (I've gone full nerd), I would share my experiences with you all on this blog.
Achievement hunting is by no means the right way to play. This is a hobby, everyone engages with it differently to have fun with it. But I realized that, for me, Achievement hunting gave me more pleasure from my games in many ways.
1) I actually finish games. Call it OCD or whatever, but having a game platinumed or at 100% just is incredibly satisfying. And now it just doesn't feel right to leave a game unfinished, so I don't. I might, once I find a game that is just a chore to get to 100%, but that hasn't happened so far.
2) It makes me engage with games more. Usually I'd play on Normal and focus on beating the story whilst doing as much side content as I would feel like based on how much I enjoy a game. But Achievement hunting "forces" you to engage with side content or higher difficulties or in-game challenges, and I am loving it. I've found so much fun content that I would normally skip over, and it gives me a deeper appreciation for most games I complete.
3) It feels like closure. While you don't see absolutely everything by going for 100%, you do see the vast majority of a game usually, and it feels right to put it aside once you're at 100%. It might be backwards logic since I would previously put games aside before even beating the story, but this is truly the effect it has on me.
4) Difficult achievements just make me feel proud. The feeling of getting a Gold medal on every Trackmania Turbo track was unmatched. Even going through Hard mode on Amnesia: The Dark Descent was a very proud moment for me. I would have never thought of that before. Now, I'm craving it almost.
5) Achievement hunting is like cataloguing your gaming past. I like seeing through sites like SteamHunters when I finished what, and which Achievements I unlocked over time. While I felt proud for beating Elden Ring for example, I just enjoy the reward of an Achievement on your profile forever as an added bonus as well.
I strongly encourage anyone who has been in a similar "rut" as me to give this niche part of our hobby a go. It might work for you, it might not, but I think it's worth a shot.
As for this blog, I'm looking forward to sharing my Achievement hunts with you through this blog. I plan on doing bi-weekly update posts where I discuss what games I'm playing, what I have completed and what I want to play next, as well as add challenges to the mix to make things more interesting. I'm also keeping track of my statistics at the top of this first post, since I think that could be fun to follow as well.

I like to review/score my games. I've added "Achievements" to my scoring system to account for the focus of this blog. They can definitely make games better or much, much worse depending on what you're playing, so I want to account for that. Here is my scoring system in detail.
REVIEW SCORES/SYSTEM

Here is my full backlog/collection. I got about 300 games after I purged my account of every single game I have no interest in, so this is a curated list of games that I'd ideally want 100% in across the board. Never gonna happen, but a man can dream.
THE BACKLOG/COLLECTION - 46/309 Games Completed

Additionally, I want to showcase a list of gaming series that I would like to achieve full completion in. There are plenty of gaming series out there that I've enjoyed a lot over the years, and I think getting 100% across the board in them would be pretty cool for the collection.
And with that, let's start the hunt for Achievements!

REVIEW SCORES/SYSTEM
• 100-90: A Masterpiece
• 89-80: Among the best games ever
• 79-70: A great/fun game
• 69-60: A solid game with some issues
• 59-50: A game with some nice ideas but so-so execution
• 49-40: Overall a poor experience with one or two rays of hope shining through
• 39-30: Too many issues to recommend
• 29-20: Very bad
• 19-10: Unplayable
At the end of the day review scores are of course kind of silly and I'm mainly doing it for myself, and as a way to quickly convey to you how I feel about a game. I feel like this lets 80+ games really stand out, like they should. Of course I will accompany these scores by giving you my detailed thoughts on any game I beat/drop. Again, I'm hoping to inspire some of you to check out the games I play as well and primarily to strike up a conversation/discussion about this hobby of ours. 😊
To get these scores, I rate games on the following 10 aspects. I'd like to use this to explain to you what I find important in games for me, so that you can quickly tell if we are similar in that regard and if you should put any weight whatsoever in my thoughts.
1) STORYTELLING/CHARACTERS (1-10): If I would tell you my Top, I don't know, 10 games of all time, they would all have one thing in common. Great stories, characters and/or lore. Games don't have to have these for me to enjoy them, but those that do tend to be the ones that have the best chance of turning into special experiences for me.
2) GAMEPLAY (1-20): Of course the most important aspect of games in general. What gameplay mechanics are there? How is the combat, the variety, the controls, the fluidity of movement, the skilltrees, save & checkpoint systems etc. I enjoy slow paced games if they make sense in context (RDR2) and fast-paced games for the same reason (MGR: Revengeance). I like easy gameplay (Astro's Playroom) and hard gameplay (Soulslikes). I like all kinds of genres and different expectations based on the one I'm playing.
3) MUSIC/SOUND/VOICE (1-10): One of the most impressive aspects among a number of impressive things about video games are the soundtracks. Game after game have OSTs I could listen to for hours and hours, it's genuinely insane. Here I like to give very much deserved credit whenever it's due (which is a lot of the time), but also focus on overall sound design and voice acting, the latter of which can have a big impact on a game's narrative and vibe whenever it is good or bad.
4) GRAPHICS/ART DESIGN (1-10): This is one of those things where I feel like we have gotten spoiled by games over the years. Whether it's photorealistic graphics or pixel art, a lot of video games just hit it out of the park when it comes to the visuals of their games. Even games I dislike I often appreciate for the feast on the eyes that they are. As long as performance issues don't have something to say against that pleasure of course.
5) LEVEL/MISSION DESIGN (1-10): All the good gameplay in the world can't help you a whole lot if the levels you get to play in are poorly designed. I might really enjoy the parkour of Assassin's Creed, but what good does it do me if all objectives and optional missions are designed exactly the same way and it only stays interesting for the first couple hours? I'm thinking of like a Dark Souls for what incredibly well designed levels or entire worlds can look like. Or Cuphead with its incredibly creative boss designs or run and gun sections.
6) CONTENT (1-10): Content quantity is becoming less and less exciting to hear about and I'm not alone in thinking that. A 100 hour behemoth can be absolutely incredible when appropriate (Elden Ring, The Witcher 3) but that's because those games put a lot of effort into making their content high of quality as well. An AC Valhalla for example which has you do the exact same few things over and over might have a lot of content, but how fun is it after a while?
7) CONCEPT/INNOVATION (1-10): With this I want to give praise to games who bring new ideas or concepts to the table, significantly improve upon established ones or just stand out as really unique. I truly believe that every highly praised game that comes along succeeds in this category. Elden Ring bringing the Soulslike formula to the open world, Disco Elysium and its writing or Death Stranding, which does something completely unusual and, at least in my eyes, really succeeds with it.
8) ACHIEVEMENT HUNTING (1-10): How fun is it to hunt for achievements? That's pretty much it. Not a traditional rating category, but since the theme of this blog will be to talk about achievements, I think it makes sense to add it.
9) REPLAYABILITY (1-5): I don't need my games to be replayable but every once in a while a game comes along that even I want to replay, and in that case having replayability is such a huge bonus. Recently I played Sifu over and over again, which thanks to unlockables, voluntary enemy buffs and player debuffs, and difficulty levels (which enhance boss movesets) kept feeling like a bigger and bigger challenge. Same goes for games with multiple endings or build possibilities.
10) PLAYABILITY (1-5): Finally, an additional criteria where I dock a couple points if the game has too many bugs, glitches or other issues.

Here is my full backlog/collection. I got about 300 games after I purged my account of every single game I have no interest in, so this is a curated list of games that I'd ideally want 100% in across the board. Never gonna happen, but a man can dream.

My Goals for the Remainder of 2025
For the rest of 2025, I have a few types of goals for myself.
1) Improve on my Completion%, Total Completed Games and Achievements.
2) Complete specific games to make it easier for me to select which games to play among the hundreds I own. I prepared a bingo for that, which I had used in my previous blog.
3) Random Challenges to spice things up.

1) Improve on my Completion%, Total Completed Games and Achievements
Goal #1: Improve Completion% to 37% [Start: 34.09%]
My percentage is abysmal, but you gotta set realistic goals to start things off and understand that progress will come gradually. 37% is still bad, but definitely attainable as I continue to focus on cleaning up all those games I already unlocked achievements in. With each game I start for the first time, this will of course become harder, but I don't expect me to start too many new ones, so it should be OK.
2) Goal #2: Reach 50 Completed Games [Start: 38]
12 Games is very easy, if you just go for short games and very hard, if you focus on long ones. If you do something in between, you get yourself a goal that should just be doable. I'm starting a new job in September and have a heavyweight like Clair Obscur on my "Playing" list. So at this point in time, I don't know if I will have the time to get to 50. Gotta use the next month and a half to get a head start. But reaching the 50 milestone this year would be cool.
3) Goal #3: Reach 3.000 Achievements
277 achievements in 4.5 months? That's 62 a month, or basically 2 game completions every 30 days. That's doable to say the least, and will be a nice milestone to aim for.

2) Specific Game Completions
For the specific games that I want to complete this year, I have these categories from my previous blog that I will select suitable games for. I would do more categories but with only 4 months left on the year, I cut it down to 6.
1) Complete a Game that was released between 2001 and 2010: RESIDENT EVIL 4 (12/12 Achievements) ✅️
2) Complete a Game that was released between 2011 and 2020: DEADPOOL (19/50 Achievements)
3) Complete a Game from last year (2024): PACIFIC DRIVE (5/49 Achievements) ❌ dropped
4) Complete a Game from a Series I love: BATMAN: ARKHAM ASYLUM (24/47 Achievements)
5) Complete a Game with a 90+ Rating on Opencritic: CLAIR OBSCUR: EXPEDITION 33 (55/55 Achievements) ✅️
As you can see, these are mostly games I beat or have played already, so they are in line with my goal to do some clean-up on my profile. Clair Obscur is a blind playthrough that I'm working on as I'm writing this, and it will probably take the longest out of all of these. Resi 4 I will need to clear on the hardest difficulty, which I'm pretty excited about, and Deadpool and Batman Arkham Aslyum have been games I wanted to replay for almost a decade now, so I think this is a pretty good list.

3) Random Challenges
Finally, here are some other random challenges/goals for the year.
1) Complete 1 Game with a difficulty of 8/10 or higher
2) Earn a Completion in every month (July, August, September, October, November, December)
3) Earn Completions in 5 different Genres
4) Unlock my first Legendary (0-5% rarity) Achievement: SUPER MEAT BOY ("Salt Boy") ✅️ Achieved on August 4th
5) Reach 36.000 TSA Score (TrueSteamAchievements, like GamerScore) [Start: 33.822]
6) Complete 2 Games from the Game of the Month posts on HLTB

And there we have it. I think all goals are achievable with a couple hours of playtime a day and will be fun additional challenges over the course of 2025. Looking forward to look back at all these at the end of the year and see how many challenges I completed.

[Entry #001] // July 19th – August 2nd, 2025 - The One With The GOAT
Hello friends and welcome to my first bi-weekly progress report on this blog. These entries will cover (1) the games I play/complete within the last two weeks, (2) the progress I have made on my challenges and goals, (3) the games I plan on playing over the next two weeks and my current progress, as well as (4) a list of games on my wishlist that are releasing, which will be added to these with every first entry of a month. Without further ado, let's get started with my completions over the past two weeks. I've been quite busy.

Here are all the games I have completed over the past two weeks. 4 Completions, including this first one. You might have heard of it.

1) CLAIR OBSCUR: EXPEDITION 33
Developer: Sandfall Interactive
Date Started: April 27, 2025 // Date Completed: August 2, 2025
Playtime: 55.5 hours
Difficulty: 4/10
Achievements: 55/55
(the playtime on the screenshot is not fully accurate since I left the game running a few times)
Let's start with the most recent completion, because Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is not only the first game I will discuss on this blog, but also the best game I have played in my life. I have beaten hundreds of video games, among them truly, truly special games like Disco Elysium, The Witcher 3, Persona 3, Elden Ring, Red Dead Redemption 2, The Last of Us etc. So Clair Obscur couldn't have had tougher company, and yet, it gave me the most amazing experience I have ever gotten from a video game.
I literally have 0 complaints with the game. The combat is exciting thanks to its customization possibilities and its flashiness, as well as a parry system that keeps you engaged at all times and gives me the best of both worlds as a fan of both turn-based and action-based combat. The visuals are incredible, both in its art design and graphical fidelity. The range throughout the overworld and within all the maps is simply absurd. I have fallen in love with so many of the game's areas, especially the one called Sirène. It has a theme that is incredibly well realized, with an amazing main song to boot. I mean, just listen to this. Seeing how the Siren and the enemies dance to this is truly hypnotizing.
The OST in general is definitely my favorite part amongst all other aspects I love about the game. Just like with the visuals, the range in genres that this 8-hour OST covers is just insane. The game is the debut for a previously completely unknown composer, who just went crazy hard. 150+ tracks, 8 hours, are you kidding me? I've never had to put the controller down so many times just because I couldn't stop listening to the music, whether it's the theme of a new area, the theme of a boss fight or the theme of the most random encounter, which you proceed to hear only one or two times through the entire game. I've posted these tracks in the Game of the Month thread, but here they are again, please give them a listen.
- Tisser la Beauté
- World Map - Our Painted Death | Specifically the part starting at 2:14
- Monoco
- And of course, Lumière
You will get a taste for the range on display here. Or this track, which goes harder than almost anything I ever listened to in a game. Like, wtf did you do, Lorien Testard? Listen to 2:45 or 8:05 in particular.
One last thing I want to highlight is the story and the characters. The game found a way to write the characters and their dialogue in such a natural way that makes them come across as actual humans. I don't know how to explain it, but they often felt like actual conversations instead of lines being said from one character to another. Not that that would have been a bad thing either, but there are so many fine details here that make the games writing stand out. It also makes these characters so much more interesting and lovable, especially Gustave, whose voice and mocap actors have done an amazing job of giving him so much personality. Then there is the lovable Jennifer English aka Shadowheart voicing Maelle, which is an instantly recognizable and such a unique voice.
The plot of the game is one of the more unique ones I've ever seen. I don't even want to say what it's about because I went into it completely blind and I recommend you do too in that regard. If/When a movie for this game comes out, I think it's gonna impress a lot of people who wouldn't give video game plots the light of day. I was left speechless multiple times, especially by the end.
I find it truly amazing that a new AA studio accomplished something like this. It fills me with joy to know that Sandfall Interactive, the composer Lorien Testard and the main writers (Jennifer Svedberg-Yen and Guillaume Broche) have announced themselves to the gaming medium in such a massive way. I can't wait to see the studio name pop up for their next TGA trailer, it's gonna be a goosebump kinda moment. DLC and anything else they release in the future will be a day 1 purchase for sure.
Also, it was really fun to 100%. There is one achievement that requires you to level up to 99, which was a bit grindy at the end. Other than that, everything was fun to do. There is one super-boss who was hard as hell, but it was a really fun fight nonetheless.
Rating: 97% -
My Sales Pitch: PLAY THIS! Literally the only thing I could see people be mixed on is the parry system, but I encourage you to give it a shot, it's really, really fun to figure out and have it click. Everything else about this game is incredible. It is a frontrunner for GOTY for a reason, and my GOTY and GOAT for sure.

2) PONY ISLAND
Developer: Daniel Mullins Games
Date Started: January 20, 2017 // Date Completed: July 22, 2025
Playtime: 6.8 hours
Difficulty: 3/10
Achievements: 20/20
No, it didn't take me 8.5 years to play this for 6.8 hours. I played and beat it the first time in 2017, then went back recently do clean up the remaining half of the achievements I had missed. That involved fully playing the game again and collecting all the tickets and learning all the secrets. This involves doing a couple things you wouldn't figure out yourself unless you play and beat the game several times and get it randomly, but it was still fun to re-visit the game.
Pony Island is a meta-breaking, weird-as-hell puzzle game where you are trapped in a video game by some hostile AI and try to get out. It is really cleverly made and quite funny at times. It does get slightly repetitive by the end and the late-game puzzles can become really tricky, but overall it's a game worth checking out. There is a sequel in development, which I'll definitely keep an eye out for.
Rating: 71%
My Sales Pitch: A weird but fun 3-hour experience that will trip you out at times and definitely stick with you after beating it.

3) NEVER ALONE
Developer: Upper One Games
Date Started: June 20, 2016 // Date Completed: July 22, 2025
Playtime: 8.5 hours
Difficulty: 2/10
Achievements: 19/19
Another replay, this time I also played the Foxtales DLC for the first time. This is what I like about achievement hunting, it makes me check out some additional content of a game that I otherwise wouldn't because the backlog would make me anxious to move on after rolling credits. Kinda sad that I needed achievement hunting to find a way to breathe and give games more time, but it's working, so I'm OK with that.
Anyway, this is perhaps the wrong game to be happy about going out of my way to play additional content because Never Alone is kinda not a good game. This is a platforming game about an Inuit tale of a girl and a fox. You unlock documentary-type clips for beating stages and finding hidden owls, which was pretty much what I needed to do for the rest of the achievements as well. These are actually pretty interesting.
The platforming itself, however, is quite irritating. You control one of the two characters and the other follows automatically. Unfortunately, A LOT of the time, the AI would mess things up and have the other character jump to their death. You basically would have no chance to avoid these deaths and the next time you do the exact same thing, everything would be OK, meaning controls and outcomes are pretty inconsistent. Platforming controls are also pretty poor and frustrating, leading to countless unfair deaths. The game and its DLC have different mechanics they focus on. Luckily they are both rather short, since there are only one or two mechanics outside of jumping and running, and even at the 3 hour runtime for the main game and 1 hours for the DLC, the game starts to overstay its welcome.
The game basically feels like an attempt to bring a documentary to a different medium than normal and as if the platforming quality was given a low priority. The story also didn't resonate with me emotionally like I was hoping going into it, both back in the day and during this replay. That was disappointing.
Rating: 42%
My Sales Pitch: This part is supposed to be about me saying the most positive thing I can say, especially for games I am overall not a fan of. So for Never Alone I can say that the documentary clips give this game a unique element and are interesting for those who are open to learning about other cultures.

4) DETENTION
Developer: RedCandleGames
Date Started: December 30, 2022 // Date Completed: July 20, 2025
Playtime: 6.2 hours
Difficulty: 2/10
Achievements: 8/8
Detention is a horror game using Taiwanese mythology and symbolism to tell a rather cryptic story that I didn't really get after my first playthrough years ago. I was still not 100% after the second one, either because I'm stupid or it's too cryptic (probably the former), but I got a much better idea and yeah, it's a pretty dark story this one. The first half has some pretty good horror gameplay, while the game unfortunately has some pacing issues and turns into a walking simulator for the most part.
For the achievements, I went back to grab all collectibles and see the second of two endings to the game. Pretty easy set of achievements overall, just requires two playthroughs and careful exploration.
Overall, I'd say it is worth it for horror fans.
Rating: 66%
My Sales Pitch: A rarely used setting makes this a somewhat unique horror experience.

These are all the games I am currently playing or plan on playing over the next two weeks.

BEACON PINES
Playtime so far: 3.3 hours
Achievement Progress: 7/11
This has so far been quite a surprisingly enjoyable little mystery adventure game. The narrator does a terrific job of voicing the different characters and telling the story. The key mechanic in the game is what is referred to as "Turning Points". These are key moments where you get to make a choice using "Charms", which are cards with words on them (tickle, pungent, shit). You find them by interacting with the world. Your choices create new story branches, which can lead to an abrupt ending or continue the story. If you make the "wrong" choice, you can always go back and make a different one.
For a game that is mainly text-based, I think it's quite entertaining. If you own it, definitely check it out. For the achievements, so far I got them for interacting with the environment or progressing the story. The only noteworthy ones remaining require me to fish for everything in an optional mini-game and get all orders correct in another, so it's a quite simple and straightforward game to complete. Overall, a pleasant surprise.

RESIDENT EVIL 4 (2005)
Playtime so far: 27 hours
Achievement Progress: 8/12
Time to tackle Game #2 out of the 5 I specified in my 2025 Challenges post. The 27 hours come from 1.5 playthroughs I've done years ago. The only achievements I have left are tied to beating the game on the highest difficulty, unlocking all the costumes (which requires me to play Ada's story as well) and two miscellaneous achievements. Pretty excited to play the main game once again, it's one of my favorite games ever. Loved the remake too, and the original also holds up really well from what I remember. Haven't played the Separate Ways mode before either, so it's gonna be cool to check that out for the first time.

SUPER MEAT BOY
Playtime so far: 14.6 hours
Achievement Progress: 10/48
I have been playing this on and off for about 3-4 weeks now. This is a 10/10 difficulty, if you're going for the 100%, and it would be my first ever 10/10 if I can get it done. I completed a 9/10 previously with Trackmania Turbo, and it was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life, so I can't imagine what Super Meat Boy will be like towards the end.
Out of the 10 achievements I have gotten, 3 of them have already been for the no-death runs, which means I "only" have 11 remaining. Two of these have already taken me over an hour each, and they are the easiest I will attempt. I'm well and truly scared of the last ones. But I don't expect or plan to complete this game anytime soon, or at all, and it's just a little side project on the side whenever I feel like challenging myself. It helps that I enjoy the game so far. I'll give updates on my progress on the game every two weeks.

In this part of the blog, I want to update you guys on the games on my wishlist that are releasing in the upcoming month. I think it'll be fun to highlight some games I personally am interested in to maybe inspire some of you to check them out for yourselves. In addition, I think it's interesting to see how many new games I would like to play in the future vs. how many games I have completed. For example, I have beaten 14 games in July and 7 games on my wishlist released, making me 7 games closer to 0 games I want to play. Obviously, since my backlog is 239 games strong and I have over 500 games on my wishlist, I will never truly run out of games to play, but I still think it's a fun thing to think of. Anyway, enough about my weird brain, here are the 6 games from my wishlist releasing in August 2025.

GEARS OF WAR: RELOADED
Developer: The Coalition // Release Date: August 26
I have never played a Gears of War game, since I've never been an Xbox person. Gears 5 is available on Steam, but I would rather start where it all began, which I will be able to do with this remake of the original. It's not like I have a high priority for this series, but it would be cool for it to all come to Steam.

LOST SOUL ASIDE
Developer: Ultizero Games // Release Date: August 29
This game has been in development for 11 years (!) and I can't remember a time where I didn't know about its existence at this point. It looks and actually is heavily inspired by Final Fantasy and Devil May Cry. The combat has me intrigued to say the least, and I really hope this is received well.

MAFIA: THE OLD COUNTRY
Developer: Hangar 13 // Release Date: August 8
Man, please be good. I have played and beaten every game in the franchise. I love grounded video games, we really don't get enough of them these days. So I'm very excited for the newest entry in the Mafia franchise. On the one hand, Mafia 3 was pretty bad from a gameplay perspective, but OK in terms of its story. Since The Old Country seems to focus on the latter, it should at least be solid. On the other hand, 2K never make their games 50€, so I'm worried that the game will be that short with no replay value. If it's very good, there is a solid chance I'll pick this up.

METAL GEAR SOLID DELTA: SNAKE EATER
Developer: Konami // Release Date: August 28
Unlike Hideo Kojima, I personally am very excited and happy about a MGS remake, and hope they remake the whole franchise to be honest. I don't trust Konami to make good new MGS games, but the Silent Hill 2 remake shows that there is at least potential for great remakes from them and their development studios and partners. At 80€, I will probably wait a bit but MGS 3 is one of my favorite games, so I'll definitely be playing it sooner than later.

SHINOBI: ART OF VENGEANCE
Developer: Lizardcube, Seaven Studios // Release Date: August 29
A 2D action-platforming game that brings back the Shinobi series. It just looks awesome and is probably gonna be really fun to master and 100%. This and the recent Ninja Gaiden Ragebound must be a dream come true for the bigger fans of this specific genre, and I myself am pretty excited about the resurgence too.

SWORD OF THE SEA
Developer: Giant Squid // Release Date: August 19
Made by the studio behind Abzû and directed by the art director behind Journey, this is probably gonna be a memorable, spiritual experience. Short and sweet is what I'm expecting from this. Abzû didn't change my life or anything but it was an enjoyable 2 hours. On sale I'm sure this will end up being a solid game to purchase.

Here, I want to showcase the new additions to the backlog. In the past month or so, I've spent some time trading all the leftover Humble Bundle keys from bundles I purchased years and years ago. Turns out that some of them had some nice value, so I was able to grab 34 (!) games that I had on my wishlist, saving me a cool 100€+ on them. 4 of those I traded for within the past two weeks, which are ...
FORT SOLIS
HLTB: 6 hours
This one makes me a bit sad because it has both Troy Baker and the man himself, Roger Clark (Arthur Morgan's VA), so I had high hopes for it. The reception on it was lukewarm however, so I kinda forgot about it. Now that I own it, I'm gonna play it rather soon probably, since it's such a short game anyway. At the price I paid (0€), maybe it will actually be a better experience then for those who got it at full price.
HITMAN: ABSOLUTION
HLTB: 37 hours
The first and only Hitman game I have ever played. I know fans of the games were disappointed with this one, but I personally enjoyed myself going into it with no expectations back in 2014. Now I got it on PC too, and can go for 100%. Unfortunately the servers were shut down, but apparently I can host one locally, so we'll see when I get there. Should be a nice gateaway back into the Hitman franchise in a worst case scenario.
TITAN SOULS
HLTB: 7 hours
7 hours to complete according to HLTB, 10-20 hours according to trophy hunting websites. This one has an 8/10 difficulty for the 100%, which is what has me interested in it. You die in one hit, but you also kill in one hit, which makes this a pretty unique boss rush game.
AS DUSK FALLS
HLTB: 14 hours
As Dusk Falls is an adventure game / interactive movie that looks quite interesting. From what I know you can make choices that actually matter, and it looks quite interesting. Had it on my wishlist since its release in 2022 and will probably play it soon-ish.
And that wraps up my new acquisitions. 4 games from the wishlist, roughly 60-70 hours of playtime, 0€ paid. I think that's a good deal.

Current Backlog Size: 239 Games
The stats are a bit odd because the blog started recently and I don't have the exact stats from July 19th, but this should be much more accurate starting with the next report. Let's go over them one by one.
For the achievement hunting statistics, the completion % has gone up by a nice 0.65% thanks to Clair Obscur, Beacon Pines and Super Meat Boy, which have netted me about 50 achievements together over the past two weeks. I use SteamHunters to get the "rarity" stats, and the 2 epic achievements I have added to my collection belong to two no-death runs in Super Meat Boy (see below).
For the backlog statistics, I only added 1 to the Games Beaten (Clair Obscur) since I had beaten the other three games on this report (Detention, Never Alone, Pony Island) before starting this blog.
CHALLENGE COMPLETIONS
Here, I show the progress on all the challenges I present at the start of every year, or in the case of 2025, the post I made just a week or so ago, as well as the "Overall Challenges" which will span the entire duration of the blog. Since it's the first entry since and I already got 4 completions, you can imagine that a lot of challenges were completed. Here is the full list.
"Overall Challenge" Completions

"2025 Challenge" Completions
1) Complete a Game with a 90+ Rating on Opencritic: CLAIR OBSCUR: EXPEDITION 33 ✅️ Achieved on August 2nd
That's 14 total completions, which is a pretty good haul. I made some good progress on many others, including the 2025 challenge to complete 2 games from the Game of the Month posts, since Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 won the most recent vote literally a day before I completed it, so it counts! :D

I want to wrap up these posts by highlighting the most notable achievements I have unlocked in the past two weeks, giving "awards" for the hardest and rarest achievements, among others.
HARDEST ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCK

This category will most likely be dominated by Super Meat Boy for a while. This particular achievement is for the 4th easiest no-death run out of the 14 in the game. I've spent close to two hours on it and died on the final few levels way too many times (you need to beat 20 in a row without dying). Had me very excited to unlock it though.
MOST TIME-CONSUMING ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCK

Not gonna show the achievement image nor the name of the optional boss you have to beat for the achievement in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 to avoid spoilers of course. But best believe this boss was TOUGH. Took me about 3-4 hours of fighting and another hour or two of figuring out how to set-up my party members, since I realized that my unoptimized build was not going to cut it. Extremely fun and epic boss fight though.
RAREST ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCK

This has a 1.9% rarity on Steam, making it the 22nd rarest achievement I have gotten and the rarest non-Disco Elysium one (those are quite rare for some reason). On SteamHunters (a site for Achievement Hunters), it's at 5.2%, which makes it the rarest achievement I have ever gotten since the Disco Elysium achievements start at 7% on there. So yeah, quite happy with this accomplishment.
MOST STYLISH ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCK

Stone Wave Cliffs
There are multiple achievements I could have picked from Clair Obscur that just look beautiful like this one.
BEST-NAMED ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCK

I'll just leave this here. This is from Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. That's all the context you will get.

And I think that's a perfect note to wrap up this first report. Hope you enjoyed the long read. :)

[Entry #002] // August 3rd, 2025 – August 16th, 2025 - The One With Allll The Trades
Hello friends! Two weeks have come and gone, and a lot has happened. I've earned 100% of the achievements in 3 more games, I acquired around 20 more games and I've completed more challenges. Let's take a look.

I've done quite well again in the past two weeks by finishing 3 more games with 100% of their achievements earned. Two of these are on the shorter side, but one of them is (just like in Entry #1) among the best games I've ever played. This time however, it was more of a replay of a timeless classic, and one that I thoroughly enjoyed at that.

1) BEACON PINES
Developer: Hiding Spot Games
Date Started: July 24, 2025 // Date Completed: August 6, 2025
Playtime: 6:23 hours
Difficulty: 2/10
Achievements: 11/11
Beacon Pines is a narrative-focused adventure game with one key mechanic called "Turning Points". These are key decisions that you make during the story by using one of your acquired "Charms", which are words like Flight, Pungent or Shit. For example, choosing Flight during one Turning Point will give you a different result and move you to a different story branch than if you had used the word Fight. Sometimes your decisions will lead you to dead ends in the story, requiring you to pick a different Charm or move to a different Turning Point that you had abandoned earlier, because you were missing the necessary Charm at the time. This process is still fairly linear overall, though there are many paths that are optional and give you a lot more information on the plot and the characters. Overall, it's a fun system in my opinion.
The game sees you control Luka, who lives in a little town called Beacon Pines, which is famous for its agricultural sector. When Luka was young, his father died around the same time a curse befell Beacon Pines called the Foul Harvest, which was a season in which all crops died for an unknown reason. Now Beacon Pines is back on track thanks to the help by a company called Perennial Harvest, which fixed the town's woes after a one-week period where it had moved all residents out of the town. Over the course of the game, Luka and his friends discover Beacon Pines' dark history and the role his neighbors, friends and family play in it.
The narration is done by one female narrator, who voices all characters in the game during key moments. Her performance is very good throughout. The characters are all well-written, the writing is both funny and clever and overall the game nails the balance between charming and haunting. I thought the OST was solid as well. Has some tracks in that I didn't care for, mainly ones that fit the theme of the game really well and some that I thought were really enjoyable to listen to. Nothing I would add to a playlist though.
The game's story takes place in fewer screens than you would think for 6 hour game, as you mostly "backtrack" through the same 7 or 8 areas. That makes sense, as the game takes place in Beacon Pines, but it can become slightly repetitive and therefore boring at times, especially during the parts where the story slows down. It's probably a budgetary thing, and it's not a reason for me to not recommend the game to all of you, which I definitely do if you enjoy (1) the charm of indie games and (2) can appreciate walking sims / visual novels, as this is mainly those two things as far as its limited gameplay is concerned.
The achievement hunt for this was rather simple. Outside of two minigames which need to be completed (fishing, completing restaurant orders), you have only story-related achievements and a handful miscellaneous ones which require you to interact with the environment (like kicking a watermelon).

Rating: 69% - As I mention in the first post on this blog, my rating system is more like I would want it to be. The game is a 7/10 for me due its limitations overall, which makes it a good, but not excellent game in my eyes. I gave it a better rating on my profile since I know a 69% rating would scare people off due to how critics apply the 1 to 10 (or 1 to 100) scale, but to me this score represents a game worth trying.
My Sales Pitch: Charming, adventurous and an ever so slightly eerie touch. If that combination sounds appealing to you, you will love Beacon Pines.

2) RESIDENT EVIL 4 (2005)
Developer: Capcom
Date Started: July 7, 2016 // Date Completed: August 12, 2025
Playtime: 48:10 hours
Difficulty: 4/10
Achievements: 12/12
One of the greatest video games of all time, and my fourth overall replay of the game just proved it once again. I played Resident Evil 4 for the first time on my PS2, when it was one of the first non-Mario games I ever played. Del Lago must have been the first boss not related to Bowser that I faced in my life. To say the game had me scared as hell would be an understatement. Then I got into PC gaming in 2015 and played RE4 again, realizing that I'm not that scared anymore now that I had grown up, and realizing too that the game continues to be a classic.
Finally, I replayed it just for fun back in 2022, though that time I got 2/3 of the way through the game before dropping it for something else. Now I went in for a fourth time with the 100% on the game in mind, which meant doing a full playthrough on Professional difficulty, as well as one run through the extra story mode called "Separate Ways", which is also a DLC for the Remake of the game and offers more story context to the plot of the main game.
First, I had a blast with the game once again. The level design, the atmosphere, the gunplay and the puzzles combine to make for an incredibly well-flowing, challenging and extremely fun time throughout. There were so many parts that I dreaded because I remembered struggling on them before (entering the castle, keeping Ashley alive as she turns levers, defending the cabin with Luis, the two El Gigantes etc.), and while I did struggle on them a fair bit (I finished the game with 111 deaths), it was always a fair and fun challenge.
The plot is as cheesy as always, and objectively speaking quite bad, but this is a game where the bad is still very charming thanks to the voice lines and their delivery. I had quite a few laughs hearing Leon say things like "No thanks, bro" or "Your right hand comes off?".
Ada's story was actually quite interesting from a story perspective though, since it sheds some more light on why all the actors are involved in this whole thing a bit more clearly. It's definitely a mode I can see myself paying the 10€ for when I get to the remake of this game, which will 100% also be 100%ed.
Rating: 88%
My Sales Pitch: What would you even play instead of this? Bingo?

3) VENBA
Developer: Visai Games
Date Started: August 13, 2025 // Date Completed: August 13, 2025
Playtime: 2:40 hours
Difficulty: 2/10
Achievements: 15/15
A very short narrative cooking game on Tamil culture and Indian cuisine, following the life of an Indian family immigrating to Canada and staying their, despite the cultural issues and the language barrier, after they find out that the titular female character (Venba) is pregnant. They want to give their child opportunities he wouldn't get in India. The story plays out in 7 chapters that plays out over the course of several decades. It highlights the discomfort the child feels when engaging with the Tamil culture due to its clash with Western culture, particularly in regards to its cuisine, so the game details how he doesn't even open his lunch box in school due to the smell.
I guess I can empathize with this aspect a little bit. Indian cuisine has a strong smell and I know of many non-Indians who are not particularly fond of smelling it on public transport, in school or in several other confined, public spaces. I think in that aspect the clash in culture is most definitely there unfortunately. Of course, I can empathize even more with the mother, who is deeply saddened by their child rejecting their culture.
Story spoiler incoming, but it explains why I think that the child, Kavin, is probably my most despised character in video game history now. Over the course of the game, Kavin not only removes any association to Tamil culture from his life, but goes even further to remove any association to HIS PARENTS as well. Especially once the father dies and his mother is left alone (in a foreign country that she stayed in only because of Kavin), Kavin ignores her near-daily text messages, sends a disrespectful, casual message to her on her birthday without visiting and then promises to visit for dinner, only to cancel around midnight, at which point his mom had already spent all time preparing a dinner spread in anticipation. Man, I can't tell you how angry I felt. As an individual with a "migration background" in Germany (I'm of Turkish descent), and as someone who doesn't care for some aspects of our culture, I would nevertheless never in my life think about excluding my parents out of my life because of this. In the final chapter, Kavin and his mother do reconcile after Kavin realizes what a piece of garbage he is. But for me, the damage was done. Kavin is by far the worst character in any game I played. The most brutal villain. Anyway, end of rant.
Overall, this is a very charming game and I'm glad it did well enough for the developers to be working on their next game.
Rating: 71%
My Sales Pitch: This game will finally teach you how to cook.

I currently got three games that I'm working on. One that I'm playing whenever I feel like, one that is a coop game and another that I'd consider the "Main Game". Let's start with that one.

PACIFIC DRIVE
Playtime so far: 2.4 hours
Achievement Progress: 4/49
I would call Pacific Drive a survival game, where you drive a car and look for resources to improve your vehicle and your base in order to open up more dangerous areas for increasingly rare and valuable loot. You use the resources to craft what you need whilst following a main storyline that incentivizes progression. I'm not a survival game fan or anything, but if you attach a story to it, I will play it. The fact that you drive a car also made this a lot more appealing to me.
So far, it's been OK. The game starts both slow and complex, so it's kinda daunting figuring things out right now. It had its moments already, and the anomalies which make the drives challenging hopefully will keep things interesting throughout. This is a 30-hour commitment for an Achievement Hunter, so I'm hoping things pick up a bit more, though it does have a lot of potential.

OVERCOOKED
Playtime so far: 18 hours
Achievement Progress: 11/12
I've already beaten the game twice over the past years, once with my brother when he was just 4 years old. Now he is 8 and we're playing it again. Both to see how he has improved since and to get that final achievement, which requires us to get 3 stars in every kitchen, which should me quite a challenge. It's been a lot of fun so far, and yes, he has improved quite a bit.

SUPER MEAT BOY
Playtime so far: 18.9 hours
Achievement Progress: 15/48
I put another 4 hours into Super Meat Boy and unlocked 5 more achievements, including the one for beating the game('s light worlds) and one more no-death run, which puts me at four overall. During this time, I figured out that you're even faster when holding down both R2 AND L2, which was a revelation and a half. The current no-death run I'm doing is pretty tough, but should be doable by the time I update you guys on this game next.

I did something I haven't done in a long time. Buy bundles. Last time I talked about trading all the leftover keys. So I looked at some bundles for games that interest me and/or to make a nice donation to receive keys for trades. That's exactly what I did, purchasing 4 bundles for a total price of 45€. I got some games directly out of the bundles, or traded the leftovers for all the remaining games you will see listed here. In total, I acquired 20 games from my wishlist. Calculating their prices on sale, these games are valued at 196€, so I think I did quite well. Additionally, these games total 685 (!) hours of playtime, which means just completing two weeks worth of acquisitions would take me roughly 2/3 of a year. To summarize, I will never beat the backlog.
ALIENS: DARK DESCENT
HLTB: 47 hours
A squad-based, XCOM-type real-time tactics game in the Aliens franchise sounds like a fun time. It's got the good reviews to back that up too. This is one of the many games I could via trades for very cheap, as it would otherwise have been a 16€ game on Steam.
BATMAN: ARKHAM KNIGHT - PREMIUM EDITION
HLTB: 59 hours
It's sad that it took this long to own Batman: Arkham Knight as someone who loved all the other games in the series, including Origins. Now that I got the set complete, it's time to start the achievement hunt in this series with Asylum soon.
BENDY AND THE INK MACHINE
HLTB: 12 hours
Already own Dark Revival. These games look like interesting horror games. I got it in one of the many trades I made as a throw-in pretty much, but I'm hoping it will make a bigger impact than that once I play it.
BLOODSTAINED: RITUAL OF THE NIGHT
HLTB: 35.5 hours
I already owned the regular version, so it was time for the upgrade. I got it for 4.99€ on Steam, making this the only non-bundle purchase this month. I've played and started this game multiple times over the past years when I was still bouncing from one game to another. Now that I'm finally out of that kinda "choice paralysis" headspace, I'm hoping to finally give this game the full playthrough it deserves.
CONTROL: ULTIMATE EDITION
HLTB: 38.5 hours
Tried this on the Epic Games Launcher before. Didn't stick with it because I found the game too hard, but I loved the visuals and the storytelling up to that point. I think I will enjoy this a lot when I give it another go.
COOKIE CUTTER
HLTB: 18 hours
Don't know anything about the game other than the few gameplay clips and the art style, but it looked good, hence why I put it on the wishlist. Trading it for a key I didn't care for was a no-brainer either way.
ELEX II
HLTB: 76 hours
Didn't play the original yet, but I know of the Eurojank charm that makes up these games, so I'm sure it'll be a fun time whenever I get to it.
EVIL WEST
HLTB: 22.5 hours
Been on my wishlist ever since its first announcement. Got it in return for "Critter Café". Don't know what that game is either? Well, then you'll know that I think I did well with this trade.
EXPEDITIONS: ROME
HLTB: 61.5 hours
Now I got two of the three Expeditions games. I enjoy cRPGs a lot, and this one reviewed quite well.
GHOST SONG
HLTB: 20 hours
For some reason I always compare the game to Signalis. They released around the same time and were two well received indie darlings. While I don't have Signalis yet, I'm glad I added Ghost Song to the collection now.
THE INVINCIBLE
HLTB: 11 hours
An adventure / walking sim type game that looks good, but released to mix reviews. Not expecting too much from this one.
JOURNEY TO THE SAVAGE PLANET
HLTB: 17 hours
This is an action-adventure FPS game. The sequel released just a couple months ago. This is the only game out of the bunch that wasn't on my wishlist. I wasn't sure why, so I added it through the recent Humble Games Bundle.
LEGACY OF KAIN 1&2 REMASTERED
HLTB: 27 hours
Loved Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen, which I played earlier this year for the first time. Despite its age, it stood out thanks to its atmosphere and fantastic voice acting. So I'm excited to check out these two games, which I believe are more popular entries in the franchise.
MARVEL'S GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY
HLTB: 26 hours
My brother got the 100% in this just last month, and the visuals were stunning on his LG C4. The fact that this has such a big focus on characters and dialogue had me sold a while back, but I'm not a big Marvel guy and therefore didn't prioritize the game. I will probably play it fairly soon.
NOBODY SAVES THE WORLD
HLTB: 29 hours
From the developers behind Guacamelee, which I enjoyed, Nobody Saves the World has been on my wishlist for over 3 years now. Let's see if it was worth staying on it for so long.
ROBOCOP: ROGUE CITY
HLTB: 17 hours
This was a pretty well received AA game in a franchise I previously never cared for. I'm pretty excited about this one, should be a fun 100%.
SIFU
HLTB: 22 hours
And now to the highlight for the month. Sifu is a game I beat on the Epic Launcher earlier this year and it became one of my all-time favorites. Incredibly fun and epic beat 'em up gameplay with a really unique death mechanic. Can't wait to 100% this.
SUNLESS SEA
HLTB: 123 hours
I don't really know about this game, but 123 hours seems like a looong commitment. Gives me Dredge vibes.
SUPERHOT VR
HLTB: 7 hours
I've seen YTers platinum this and I found it hilarious how they were all sweating and complaining about their overworked hamstrings whilst playing this. I would love to join them in their suffering, but I don't have VR glasses yet. This game will at least give me some more motivation to get one, alongside Half Life Alyx. I'm not quite there yet, though.
WOLFENSTEIN: THE OLD BLOOD
HLTB: 16 hours
Still don't have The New Order on Steam, though I did play that one on PS4. The Old Blood is a standalone expansion that will probably be more of the same, and since I loved The New Order, I'm sure this will be fun. Am gonna wait until I get my hands on the original though, before I start 100%ing this series.

ACHIEVEMENT HUNTING STATS (last report -> today's report)
Completion %: 34.74% -> 34.25% (-0.49%)
Completed Games: 39 -> 42 (+3)
Achievements: 2.775 -> 2.807 (+32)
TrueSteamAchievements Score: 34.751 -> 35.243 (+492)
Uncommon Achievements (20-50% rarity): 829 -> 835 (+6)
Rare Achievements (10-20%): 58 -> 63 (+5)
Epic Achievements (5-10%): 12 -> 12 (+0)
Legendary Achievements (0-5%): 0 -> 1 (+1)
BACKLOG STATISTICS (this report (overall))
Games Beaten: 3 (18)
Games Dropped: 0 (0)
Games Acquired: 20 (54)
Backlog +/-: +17 (+36)
Current Backlog Size: 256 Games
Where to start? I guess from the top? The completion percentage, after completing three games and collecting 32 achievements ... went done by half a percent? Why is that? Well, that's because among some of my acquired games are those that I had already collected achievements in when I played them through Steam's Family Share feature. You can still collect achievements that way, but they don't show up on your profile until you buy the game yourself. Once I did, it dropped my completion % a bit. This was unexpected and will make it difficult to reach my Completion % goal for the month, since I might acquire some more games like this over the next few months.
Another notable stat is that I got my first legendary achievement ever thanks to Super Meat Boy's "Salt Boy" achievement (4.22% rarity on SteamHunters). A great milestone and one of many to come, as Super Meat Boy has 11 legendary achievements in total, and I'm gonna try to get at least a couple more.
With the acquired games, the backlog has reached 250+ games now. We're going backwards, but a milestone is a milestone I guess.
CHALLENGE COMPLETIONS
"Overall Challenge" Completions
1) Reach 40 Games Completed ✅️ Achieved with BEACON PINES
2) Complete 1 Game with Rarity above 50% (SteamHunters rarity) ✅️ Achieved with BEACON PINES
3) Unlock 1 Legendary Achievement ✅️ Achieved with SUPER MEAT BOY ("Salt Boy")
4) Complete three 2/10 Difficulty Games ✅️ Achieved with VENBA
5) Complete a Survival Horror Game ✅️ Achieved with RESIDENT EVIL 4 (2005)
6) Complete a Game that takes up to 5 hours ✅️ Achieved with VENBA (2.7 hours)
7) Complete a Game that takes 30-50 hours ✅️ Achieved with RESIDENT EVIL 4 (2005) (48.2 hours)
"2025 Challenge" Completions
1) Complete a Game that was released between 2001 and 2010: RESIDENT EVIL 4 (12/12 Achievements) ✅️ Achieved on August 12th
2) Unlock my first Legendary (0-5% rarity) Achievement: SUPER MEAT BOY ("Salt Boy") ✅️ Achieved on August 4th
After 13 overall challenge completions in entry #1, we got 7 more completed this time, which puts the total at 20 already. Obviously I'm proudest of the first legendary achievement, though getting to #40 on games completed overall is also pretty cool.
I got the second of the 5 games done I had on my list with Resident Evil 4 (Clair Obscur was first). Next up is the aforementioned Pacific Drive, and then it will be only Deadpool and Batman Arkham Asylum remaining.

The achievement awards return for a second week. This time I don't have too many to choose from (32), but there are worthy candidates for each award nonetheless.
HARDEST ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCK

Game: Super Meat Boy
As I predicted last time, Super Meat Boy once again gets these honors, this time for the 4th easiest no-death achievement. This one took somewhere between 2 and 3 hours, so not too bad, but it's already getting much tougher.
MOST TIME-CONSUMING ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCK

Game: Resident Evil 4 (2005)
This is for beating the game on Professional. It took 15:37 hours according to the save file, which was only two minutes longer than my first full run of the game on Normal in 2016. Wasn't very hard. I think the 4/10 difficulty rating for this is fair. Some sections are challenging, I died 111 times, but never did it feel impossible. Krauser's boss fight annoyed me the most though. The knife strat made it too easy, whilst doing it normally was very hard.
RAREST ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCK

Game: Super Meat Boy - 4.20%
My rarest achievement yet. I unlocked a 0.79% trophy during my short-lived time as a PS Trophy Hunter (the Trackmania Turbo platinum), which I probably will never achieve on Steam, but it's nice to slowly but surely get close.
MOST STYLISH ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCK

Game: Resident Evil 4 (2005)
I mean, come on now. The achievement has Stylish right there in its name.
BEST-NAMED ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCK

Game: Venba
Not sure if it's the best-named achievement, but I just wanted you to sit there and try to read it for a couple minutes.

A bit delayed, but it's finally done. A productive two weeks. The next two will be the last ones before I start working full-time again, so I'm keen on finding out how many hours of playing time I can get per week at that point. I'm hoping I can still achieve double digits at least. Until then, take care :)

[Entry #003] // August 17th, 2025 – August 30th, 2025 - The One With The Secret Treasure
Hello, friends! The final two weeks pre full-time employment are over for me. It's been yet another productive two weeks with 4 more completions. This will be the last such 2-week for a while however, as on the 1st of September, I'm starting a "dual study", which means I switch between studying and working every few months for the next 3 years. That my playtime will go down is guaranteed, but I have no idea how many hours of gaming I'll get in every week. What I do know is that for the next 4 months, I will be away from my PC Mondays through Friday, so I'm gonna be playing on my non-gaming laptop and my new Steam Deck (once it gets here, I just ordered today!). You can see which game I picked to play first further below.

As always, the "My Sales Pitch" section is my best and most serious effort to sell a reviewed game to you, regardless of the score I give it.

1) OVERCOOKED
Developer: Ghost Town Games
Date Started: September 16, 2020 // Date Completed: August 20, 2025
Playtime: 20:00 hours
Difficulty: 3/10
Achievements: 12/12
I've first played an Overcooked game in 2020 and the series has not let met go since. I beat the first game in 2021 with my brother, then 4 years old. We then beat Overcooked 2 together the next year through Game Pass. A few months ago, I played and platinumed the All You Can Eat Edition on PS5 with my other sibling, which includes both 1 and 2. And now, a couple weeks ago, I went back to the first Overcooked on Steam to get the final achievement, this time with the younger brother who has already reached the age of 8. Damn.
The final achievement involved getting 3 stars in every kitchen. Since my save file didn't exist anymore unfortunately, that meant playing the game from start to finish once more. We got through half of the stages fairly quickly, and had a blast doing so. As you might expect, my brother was quite a lot more skilled, having doubled the time he has spent on earth in between playthroughs. Unfortunately, I could not motivate him for another session after that. Blame Fortnite for that. I'm sure he'll rediscover the taste for single player games with time.
However, that meant that I had to do the latter stage on my own. With roughly 50 hours with the series under my belt, that was no challenge for me at this point. It took me 2 additional hours and I did most of the stages first try. Once again, I ended an Overcooked game being thoroughly entertained throughout. It's a shame the devs aren't working on a third, though I understand and am looking forward to their next game, which is called Stage Fright and will be another coop game centered around escape rooms as far as I understand from the description.
Rating: 78% (Great!)
My Sales Pitch: Fans of the Overcooked games should probably wishlist Stage Fright. And those who haven't played Overcooked should definitely buy the All You Can Eat Edition.

2) WESTERN PRESS
Developer: Bandit-1
Date Started: January 27, 2017 // Date Completed: August 21, 2025
Playtime: 03:50 hours
Difficulty: 2/10
Achievements: 25/25
When I decided to become an Achievement Hunter, I went through my Steam library and purged it of any game I owned that I didn't think I would *actually* want to play. That left me with around 250 games out of over 400, and an additional 500 games on the wishlist. Pretty much the only game that survived this purge, even though it shouldn't have, was Western Press. And that's because I already had 20 of 25 achievements anyway.
This is a game where you have 1v1 western duels where you need to press buttons faster than your opponent or memorize a string of letters. You can do custom tournaments against other players or on your own and unlock a bunch of characters, including ... SpongeBob? Anyway, I got this all the way back in 2016 through one of the first Humble Bundles I ever purchased, and played through the game's "Skill Tester" mode, which has increasingly difficult levels and needs to be played to unlock most of the characters. I did that and called it "beaten".
Fast forward to 2025, and I noticed that the only achievements I was lacking were tied to secret characters which I unlocked in minutes, and to winning 100 duels, which entailed a 45-minute grind. Outside of that, there was only one more achievement that separated me from the 100%:

Ironically, the game's online mode was as deserted as the Wild West itself. I spent 15 minutes waiting for anyone to join me, until I realized that the game averages about 2 players per week. The odds of us meeting online? About as low as my chances to actually earn 100% of Super Meat Boy's achievements. So I left a note on the game's community hub to add me as a friend on Steam, if anyone is looking to get the achievement themselves. About 6 weeks later, someone actually did.
And so, I am one 100%'ed game richer. Congrats to Western Press for joining an otherwise highly curated group of games. Does it deserve this honor? Honestly, probably not. It's fun for about 3 of those 100 duels I'm meant to win. After that, it's extremely repetitive. That said, for the 70 something cents this goes on sale, I think it's fine that this will entertain you and your friends for about 15 minutes tops. You shouldn't expect any more than that however.
Rating: 43% (Poor)
My Sales Pitch: A western duel between Pocahontas and SpongeBob should not be missed, don't you think?

3) FAR CRY 3
Developer: Ubisoft Montreal
Date Started: January 18th, 2018 // Date Completed: August 26, 2025
Playtime: 27:37 hours
Difficulty: 3/10
Achievements: 44/44
Yet another game that I started way before this past 2-week period. Far Cry 3 is an interesting one, because back when I originally beat it in early 2018, this one did not have any Achievements on Steam. They were added just recently. Additionally, I had platinumed Far Cry 3 just 2 months ago on PlayStation. So seeing it sit in my Steam library without any Achievements, I figured I would start it up and see if my save was in the Steam Cloud, and how many of the Achievements would auto-pop based on my initial playthrough from over 7 years ago.
Turns out that 29 Achievements popped immediately, leaving me with 15 left to collect. I figured I could do that real quick, so I spent 7 hours over a 2-day period and grabbed myself Steam Ribbon #45. It was fun to revisit the game on PC because the barely-30 FPS I got on PlayStation 5 were rough to say the least. The game is much more enjoyable to play on PC for sure.
Overall, it's a good game and aged well. I always say with open world games and Ubisoft games in particular, that you'll enjoy the games the most that you played first, before open world fatigue kicks in. To this day, I find open world games to be among the best I've personally experienced, but that's only if the game has a lot more to offer than that. Think The Witcher 3 or Red Dead Redemption 2. Ubisoft's open world games on the other hand are all practically the same, from activities to mission structure, just with a Far Cry or Assassin's Creed filter on top. So the more I play them, the more I find myself burnt out. This is why I have a rule not to 100% more than 1 of Ubisoft's open world games every 6 months, though I made an exception for a "partially already finished" Far Cry 3 replay.
Anyway, my point is that FC3 has a much higher reputation than the other FC games that came after it because of this phenomenon. It doesn't really do anything better than FC4 for example, which has a lot more critics. Vaas is an exceptional villain, that's for sure, but I'd say that Pagan Min is just as interesting. Even if we agree to disagree on that, FC4's open world is basically the same, just with updated visuals and more toys to play around with. So I'd wager that the first of these Ubisoft open world games you play will most likely be your favorite for this reason. The one other important variable would be bloat/size, and newer FC games are a lot more bloated than this one for example, which can be 100%ed in just 30 hours, which is on the lower end for an open world game.
Rating: 75% (Very Good)
My Sales Pitch: Can't miss out on learning the definition of insanity!

4) FORT SOLIS
Developer: Fallen Leaf
Date Started: August 25, 2025 // Date Completed: August 28, 2025
Playtime: 06:54 hours
Difficulty: 2/10
Achievements: 20/20
The only game in this lot that I started AND completed within the 2-week period of this entry. Fort Solis is a walking simulator / sci-fi themed adventure game featuring a really strong cast that has names such as Troy Baker and Roger Clark among them. I was very interested in the game due to this when the first trailer appeared for it. Unfortunately, it didn't review all that well, and was apparently extremely short, even for its 25€ price. Fast forward to a couple weeks ago, and I got the game for basically nothing in a key trade, which the other person got from a Humble Bundle that Fort Solis didn't even headline.
Still, I was optimistic going in. I thought that the game might be better than its score indicates, since I didn't pay full price for it. And as far as I was concerned, it being short was a good thing, since it meant it was a more focused and filler-free experience. Well, after playing the game for over 6 hours and collecting all Achievements, I have to say that the critics were right.
Undoubtedly, the graphical fidelity on display here is fantastic. Love the animations, the motion capture and the voice acting performances. But that's pretty much it. The game is very slow-paced, making 6 hours feel more like 20, and not much happens. Over 4 chapters, you have 4 key moments, and then just a bunch of walking around and reading documents, watching video tapes or listening to audio logs. These tell a story that is not all that interesting, and one that is kind of incomplete as well.
The game also lacks tension for two reason. First, after a while you figure out that there is no real danger. I noticed when I failed all of the first 4 or 5 QTEs and realized you don't get punished for it at all. It makes you wonder why they're there, until you realize that the reason is that they needed to add gameplay elements to their game and this was the best thing they could come up with. The second reason why the game lacks tension is because of the protagonists. Jack Leary and Jessica Appleton talk to each other while you explore Fort Solis as Jack, and often they're arguing about zombie/horror movies, giving their conversations a natural vibe. While this is fine, once you start to realize the bad things going on at Fort Solis, you'd think that would start to reflect on their conversations. But no, they keep going like everything is still hunky-dory. It's a somewhat jarring disconnect that exists throughout the game.
Playing this had me wondering how they could afford their star-studded cast and whether voice actors are simply not paid a whole lot. At the very least, the devs should learn from the game that they prioritized the wrong aspects of what makes a good game, or didn't realize that they had to offer something that made their walking simulator unique. I fear that there won't be a chance to learn from it though.
Oh and also, Fort Solis' Achievements all literally look the exact same. Talk about lazy. If you're someone who assumes the time and effort put into the design of Achievements is indicative of a game's quality, this game would be +1 in favor of your argument.
Rating: 60% (It's alright)
My Sales Pitch: The performances by the voice actors is top tier!

There are three games I will focus on over the next two weeks. First is the aforementioned game I will be playing on my laptop whilst away from my PC. The second will be the game I will play when I'm home during the weekends. And third is, of course, still Super Meat Boy. The likelihood that I can present you a completion by next time is pretty low, but I'll do my best.

FALLOUT: NEW VEGAS
Playtime so far: 116.3 hours
Achievement Progress: 29/75
The game I will be playing during the time where I will be in "boarding school" for my new job is Fallout: New Vegas, a game which I've already played a lot of in my life, which you can probably tell by looking at my playtime so far. For the first time since 2016 however, I will be doing a "vanilla-esque" playthrough. The mods I will use will only be to fix performance and stability issues. I'm looking forward to go back into it since the game has so much freedom of choice that I'm bound to stumble upon a ton of new content I haven't seen before.

RESIDENT EVIL 2
Playtime so far: 18.6 hours
Achievement Progress: 25/44
Love Resident Evil 2. It's probably my 2nd favorite Resident Evil game after Resident Evil 4. I have already done playthroughs with both characters, but am looking forward to do a whole lot more in the game to collect all Achievements. Never done a Hardcore playthrough of any Resi game, so I'm scared and excited at the same time.

SUPER MEAT BOY
Playtime so far: 23.1 hours
Achievement Progress: 19/48
I played this for 4 more hours and got 4 more Achievements. I'll take that! One of the Achievements is actually tied to yet another no-death run, which means I got 5 now. That's the good news. The bad news is that I learnt that SMB on Steam has 16 no-death runs, not 14. Another thing I learnt is that this version also has "speed run" Achievements, which require you to do all light and dark worlds of a level under an undisclosed amount of time. So I replayed some levels to get faster times and got these Achievements too. It got tougher in World 3, which took about an hour, but now I find myself just one Achievement shy of finishing this "group". Next I'm probably gonna do the "The Kids Xmas" bonus chapter before I start focusing on the dark worlds for full story completion. This continues to be a multi-month project however.

The trading bonanza continues. In case you've missed the past two updates, I grabbed all the old Humble Bundle keys I hadn't redeemed and a couple recent bundles for good measure to use all of them for key swaps on the website called "Lestrades". You list all the games you have and all the games you want, and the site matches you up with every user who has something you want, and wants something you have. It's by far the best site to do key trading if you're interested in that. Why? Because unlike the subreddits or Steamtrades, people actually want to trade with you.
In about a month, I have now done over 60 trades, including with games that I would not have gotten rid of on any other site even I gave them up for free. In return, I now own over 80 games that I actually had on my wishlist. All I paid was about 75€ for a few bundles and two mystery key boxes on Fanatical, the latter of which was a recent and much regretted purchase. The keys I got from this, as well as the ones I already had from past Humble bundles, got me amazing games like Sifu, Control, Batman Arkham Knight and DOOM (just to name a few) for much less than what I would have to pay for them on Steam. In fact, the game's I got would have cost me roughly 400€ on Steam at their historical lows. Again, I paid 75€. So if you got keys to trade yourself, check the site out for sure.
All this said, let me tell you why this entry is called "The One with the Secret Treasure". Recently, whilst going through my Steam inventory, I stumbled upon an item I have seen quite a few times before. A tradable "Steam Gift" of Dragon Age Origins: The Awakening DLC. I purchased this about a decade ago after beating Dragon Age: Origins, thinking I didn't own it yet. It didn't come as a key, but rather as a Steam gift. Unfortunately, I did own it, so I couldn't activate the gift and it was collecting dust in my inventory ever since. I was quite annoyed at that, even if I only had paid 2€ or so on some third party site, since I did not only waste money, but also had an item in my inventory that I couldn't remove.
Fast forward to about two weeks ago, and I decided to see what this thing would be worth today. Whilst doing so, I learned that Steam actually discontinued this "tradable gifts in inventory" feature years ago. I don't know the specifics, but basically, games turned into Steam gifts cannot be traded anymore. The only ones that remain in this state are the ones from before this change. This meant that what I owned is actually quite rare nowadays. On the site inventory(dot)gift, I found people actually selling and/or COLLECTING these. I was shocked, but then I realized that NFTs exist. So why wouldn't people collect Steam gifts too, right?
Anyway, turns out that this Steam gift I was sitting on was worth about 50 TF2 keys!!! If you don't know about the conversion rate, a TF2 key goes for 2€ on the Steam Community Market or for about 1.50€ outside of Steam. While I didn't get 50, since I was fine with getting rid of this game sooner than later, I settled for 37 keys, which got me about 75€ in TF2 key value. I've promptly added these to my tradeables on Lestrades to be able to trade for even more games from my wishlist.
TLDR: I found an expensive collectible in my Steam inventory, purchased another "bundle" and traded for a ton of games again. Total paid these past two weeks: About 30€ (plus the sale of a Steam gift for 37 TF2 keys (~75€). In return, I got the following. (I also paid 8€ for 2 games that I purchased on Steam)
AMNESIA: A MACHINE FOR PIGS
HLTB: 6 hours
I platinumed the Amnesia Collection just two months ago on PlayStation. It included Amnesia: The Dark Descent, Amnesia: Justine and this game. I'd consider this to be the 2nd best of the bunch, but not a great game overall. While it has an eerie atmosphere and a dark story, it lacks in the gameplay department and creates almost no tension, especially on the level that you experience with The Dark Descent. That said, it was the only Amnesia game I needed to complete the collection.
AMERICAN ARCADIA
HLTB: 8 hours
I was quite intrigued by this game due to its "Truman Show"-like nature, and I'm glad to have finally gotten my hands on it via trade. It seems to have done OK, which I'm happy to see, and I'm hoping to add to the positive reviews on Steam fairly soon.
ASSASSIN'S CREED: ROGUE
HLTB: 40 hours
One of the few games I bought from the Steam store with my wallet funds. This one was 2.99€. I got about 100€ on my Steam wallet, and it is earmarked for games on the wishlist that go for up to 5€, so I can fill up the collection as much as possible. Also, anything more than that would be an even dumber purchase since I'm not gonna get to most of these games for a while anyway, so why buy them now, when they'll be cheaper later? With Rogue, the 2.99€ it is new all-time low, so I picked it up.
ATLAS FALLEN: REIGN OF SAND
HLTB: 27.5 hours
Came out around the same time as Lords of the Fallen and Lies of P I believe, which were all soulslikes type games I looked forward to at the time. While I know that Atlas Fallen doesn't call itself that at all, I also learned that it was the worst performing of the bunch, which is why we got no words on a sequel or DLC, while Lies of P got Overture and Lords of the Fallen is getting a sequel. My random connection between the three games aside, I'm still hoping Atlas Fallen is fun enough, since its open world looked fairly interesting.
BANISHERS: GHOSTS OF NEW EDEN
HLTB: 60.5 hours
My brother has been playing this for the past couple weeks, and it feels like it's never-ending. Seeing that it is a 60 hour game to complete, I get it now. He's still having fun with it though, so it must be doing something right.
BEYOND TWO SOULS
HLTB: 27.5 hours
I only watched a YT playthrough of this around launch, and wanted to play it myself since then. Now I'll get that chance, and I'll probably play it fairly soon. Worst case, it will definitely be on whatever list I make for my 2026 goals.
BLASPHEMOUS 1 & BLASPHEMOUS 2
HLTB: 30.5 & 25.5 hours respectively
I haven't played either of them before, but I know that these are beloved Metroidvanias, and as someone who recently got more interested in the genre, I'm definitely keen on checking these out, hence why they remained on my wishlist after "the Purge". The unfortunate thing about achievement hunting on Steam is that you need to do all DLCs to get 100%, and there is no achievement separating base game from DLC like with platinum trophies, so I still need to acquire the "Mea Culpa" DLC for Blasphemous 2 at some point, which apparently is not great at all.
CASTLEVANIA: LORDS OF SHADOW - MIRROR OF FATE HD & CASTLEVANIA: LORDS OF SHADOW - ULTIMATE EDITION
HLTB: 13 and 47 hours respectively
I played my first Castlevania games ever just a couple years ago, which were retro titles like Super Castlevania IV and Castlevania: Bloodlines. There are tons of good Castlevania games I'm still missing, including Symphony of the Night. While I have the collections on my wishlist, I decided to start my Steam collection of the series with the two cheapest games available, which are the Lords of Shadow games. Hopefully we see a return of the franchise soon.
CELESTE
HLTB: 38.5 hours
Played this when it was given away for free on the Epic Games Launcher. Loved it, as you would expect. It is another one of these ultra-hard games to 100% (if you don't use assist mode), so I'm looking forward to doing everything possible in the game, as well as going through the main story once again. This is one of the few games I purchased on Steam, this one for a little less than 5€.
CHERNOBYLITE
HLTB: 24 hours
A survival horror RPG set in Chernobyl's Exclusion Zone sounds very intriguing. It also has a sequel in EA, so I'm probably not gonna get started with this one until the sequel is officially released, since I'd hate to love the first, only to have to wait for the second to still be finished.
DAY OF THE TENTACLE REMASTERED
HLTB: 6.5 hours
One of the first point & click games I played back in 2016, possibly even the first (yes, I was missing out). Loved my time with it on the PS4, had it on my Steam wishlist ever switching to PC around the same time. Now that I own it, I'm sure I'll get to this sooner than later for a nice replay, with the added goal of going for 100% this time.
DEUS EX: MANKING DIVIDED
HLTB: 53 hours
Absolutely loved the original Deus Ex, and it made me fall in love with Immersive Sims as well. I didn't play the others, but was gutted when I read that this game released unfinished. Now it looks like there won't be another Deus Ex game made again, which is another gut punch. But I'll still get to the play this and Human Revolution with fresh eyes at least.
DOWNWELL
HLTB: 14.5 hours
I played this casually on my PS Vita a long time ago. You jump down a well and got to make it to the bottom. It has roguelike elements if I remember correctly. Was fun enough for me to wishlist it again on Steam, but I never beat it before. Apparently, the 100% is an 8/10 in difficulty, though I've heard it's one of those tough but fun-type games, so it will probably be the next game I play as my "ultra hard" side-game after I beat Super Meat Boy, whenever that will be.
EN GARDE!
HLTB: 12.5 hours
Another indie game I had my eyes on for years, En Garde! is a soulslike with a swashbuckling twist. It has a humorous vibe to it, and looks like it could be quite fun for its 12.5 hour completionist run-time.
HIGH ON LIFE
HLTB: 21.5 hours
Played and beat this before as well. This one I played around launch through Game Pass, and it was one of the most surprisingly enjoyable games of that year for me. The humor was great for most of it, even if it got repetitive and annoying at times, and the gameplay was serviceable. One of the guns in the game made me laugh the hardest I ever laughed at anything in a game. If you know, you know. I am still missing the "High on Knife" DLC, but I'll pick it up on sale before I start this game again eventually.
METRO 2033 REDUX + METRO EXODUS
HLTB: 23.5 hours + 40.5 hours respectively
I now got all three Metro games. Beat the first two already, though of course will go back to them for 100% at some point. Enjoyed 2033, loved Last Light, and Exodus will probably be more of the same. Hoping for the announcement of a 4th soon too.
MIDNIGHT FIGHT EXPRESS
HLTB: 35.5 hours
An indie game I followed since its announcement. Did quite well for itself I believe, and am glad to have it in the collection. Not a priority but this should be fun whenever I do get to it.
ORI AND THE WILL OF THE WISPS
HLTB: 18 hours
Right after the last entry, where I picked up the first Ori game, I now own the second too. These are very popular games and I'm most likely gonna start the first one in September, as I will mostly only have my Steam Deck available and these apparently work great on it.
PERSONA 5 STRIKERS
HLTB: 70.5 hours
I love the Persona series, though I've never actually beaten Persona 5. I mentioned in a previous post that long games rarely held my attention long enough for me to beat them, and Persona 5 is probably the biggest victim to that, as I dropped it about 10 times over a period of 7 years. With achievement hunting, I'm hopeful that I'm past this the next time I start up P5 Royal, which I already own. I did not own P5 Strikers though, which is a hack and slash Dynasty Warriors type game that I have never played before. Spending more time with the cast is already enough to sell me on this.
RESIDENT EVIL 2 & RESIDENT EVIL 3
HLTB: 36.5 and 20.5 hours respectively
The clear winners of this entry's haul. I got them through trade thanks to my treasure trove of TF2 keys, and they've been added to the collection with 25/44 and 18/32 achievements already unlocked, respectively, since I have beaten them through Steam's Family Sharing feature before. They also put the total of RE games in my library to 11, which is the most I own from a single franchise. Can't wait to get started with RE2 some time this year!
SHADOW WARRIOR 2
HLTB: 24.5 hours
I enjoyed Shadow Warrior 1 back in the day and thought it was funny and entertaining. While very different, Visceral Cleanup Detail: Shadow Warrior, which I 100%'ed recently, gave me similar joy as far as the voice acting and dialogue goes. I'm hoping Shadow Warrior 2 is more of the same, with similarly engaging combat to boot.
SUNLESS SKIES
HLTB: 116 hours
116 hours? Holy moly. I have no idea what this is. A quick glance gives me heavy Dredge vibes, which I personally did not enjoy. At 116 hours, I'm gonna go into this with the expectation of "let's see if I like this" instead of "I must 100% the game".
THE CHANT
HLTB: 10.5 hours
This is a survival horror type game from what I've seen of it, and it looks interesting enough. Not much more to say about this one.
THE CALLISTO PROTOCOL
HLTB: 15.5 hours
I already played this earlier this year on the Epic Games Launcher, and overall was disappointed with it. I traded for it on Steam anyway, since I did like some parts about it (the death animations, the visuals, voice performances) and I've been told the DLC is pretty good, so I wanted to check it out again some day.
THE EVIL WITHIN & THE EVIL WITHIN 2
HLTB: 41 & 28 hours respectively
Watched a YT playthrough of TEW 1 when it first came out and loved it. Wanted to check these out for myself at some point, but it was never to be. Now I picked up both games and I'm very keen on checking them out. These games are extremely hard to 100% however, so I'm just as scared of that as of the game's atmosphere itself.
THE GREAT ACE ATTORNEY CHRONICLES
HLTB: 73 hours
I got this in a trade for Temtem, a game from a Humble bundle from a couple years ago. That key is exhausted, so it's become quite valuable. I asked HB for the key directly, or to give me a refund, and after a couple weeks, they did actually send me the key for the game. A day later, I traded it for a collection of games I am really excited to play some day. I'm still progressing through the Phoenix Wright Trilogy, but these are definitely gonna be my favorite visual novels out there, so I'll be collecting the others in the meantime whenever the opportunity presents itself.
THE THAUMATURGE
HLTB: 41 hours
The games 1ll bit studios develop and publish are usually pretty good, so I was immediately interested in The Thaumaturge. It released to positive reviews, though has some critics as well, so it's a shame it wasn't such a critical hit like I would have hoped. Still, I'm excited to check it out, and games usually are better than their reviews say whenever you don't have to pay full price to play them.
THYMESIA
HLTB: 15.5 hours
Thymesia is one of the many soulslikes whose name I've read quite a few times online without knowing anything about it. This one is apparently quite serviceable without being great. I had it on the wishlist for years, so it must have looked good when I first saw it.
WOLFENSTEIN: THE NEW ORDER
HLTB: 24.5 hours
Another game on this list that I had already played and beaten in the past. This one became my favorite single-player FPS game when I first played it. I really dug the vibe of the atmosphere and the game's storytelling definitely worked well for me. It's a crime that I didn't play the other games since then. Now that I've completed the Wolfenstein collection on Steam as well, I'll start tackling these soon.
VANQUISH
HLTB: 17 hours
With this game, which is one of the longest-tenured games on my wishlist (was in there since 2017), I have now gotten the majority of "ultra-hard 100%s" I still had on the wishlist. Though this was not the reason these games were originally added to the wishlist. Vanquish just looks like a lot of fun and I added it shortly after beating MGR: Revengeance, since they're similarly designed games from the same developer.

Games Beaten: 4 (22)
Games Dropped: 3 (3) - BloodRayne: Terminal Cut, Pacific Drive, Scorn
Games Acquired: 35 (89)
Backlog +/-: +28 (+64)
Current Backlog Size: 285 Games
The completion % has gone up quite a lot this time. Once again, newly added games that I had previously through Steam Family Sharing have impacted it, but this time in a positive way thanks to games like Resident Evil 2 and 3, which I already had 50%+ of all Achievements in. They also helped me achieve 36.000 TSA Score, which completed one of my 2025 challenges. I definitely could have shot for a lot more there for the year, but I'll try to get as close to 40k as I can regardless until 2026.
For the Achievement rarities, the Legendary and Epic Achievements are of course tied to Super Meat Boy once again. But among the Rare Achievements is one other game, which is Overcooked. The Achievement for getting three stars in every kitchen has a rarity of 19.1%.
As for the Statistics, there is a lot going on. First, for the first time on this blog, I've dropped games. Here are quick thoughts on them.
• BloodRayne: Terminal Cut: A game that was still in my library when I was removing all games I had no real interest in. BloodRayne might not be a bad game, but from everything I saw, I can't say I would be interested in this.
• Pacific Drive: I played this for a few hours before dropping it after finding myself bored out of my mind. Pacific Drive has its fans and has been received well overall. I can't say that I was similarly impressed. This is a survival game with the twist that you drive a car. I've never cared for survival games, but that twist had me intrigued. Unfortunately, the first few hours (which are supposed to be the most exciting) had me bored by doing the same things over and over again, and listening to rather poor dialogue from your "companions". When I then found myself lost and with a completely battered car, I decided to call it quits instead of grinding this one out over 40 hours. I'd rather play something I enjoy.
• Scorn: Another game that had me bored, but this one did that much quicker. This is probably the worst intro to a game I've played. Immediately, you find yourself in a large main area with about a million things to interact with. First, you need to find these things, since it's not immediately apparent what you can interact with. Second, the first 20 objects I interacted with simply didn't do anything. After 30 minutes, I got tired of it and dropped the game. Would've been a quick 100%, but wouldn't have been worth it.
As for the acquired games, you can see that I got 35 more added to the backlog. That number should be in the single digits for the next 2-week period, since I got the majority of cheap games on the wishlist, so now I'll be waiting for the others to drop to a low price as well. There isn't a new release that has me desperate to purchase it day one either, though we'll talk about the wishlisted games for September in the next entry.

2) Reach 36.000 TSA Score ✅️ Achieved on August 26th, 2025
As you can see, quite a lot of challenges got completed this time. The biggest milestone is reaching 35% Completion, even though it doesn't quite feel like it since it got pushed through the new game acquisitions. For 2025 Completions, we are now half-way through the 6 "random challenges". Out of the 5 "Specific Game Completions", Pacific Drive got dropped, so the only two remaining are Deadpool and Batman: Arkham Asylum. As for the three other challenges, I have not yet reached 37% Completion nor 3.000 Achievements or 50 Completed Games, though I'm confident all three of these will be achieved by the end of the year.

HARDEST ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCK

This time, I beat the second-easiest dark world in Super Meat Boy. Dark worlds are all really tough, and this one was no exception. It took me somewhere between 2 and 3 hours. Funny thing is that I thought I had a lot more levels to go when the achievement popped, which is why I played a lot more relaxed. Managing your heart rate really is key to success in these games.
MOST TIME-CONSUMING ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCK

This one took me about 3-4 hours and was the only Achievement I hadn't unlocked in the game. I thought it wasn't nearly as bad as it could have been, but I've also played Overcooked games for dozens of hours by now.
RAREST ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCK

My second legendary Achievement. These no-death run achievements will just get more and more rare as we go, but 3% is already pretty wild to me.
MOST STYLISH ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCK

Thought this fit the theme of this Award the best this time around.
BEST-NAMED ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCK

I think it's pretty cool that such a memorable scene has its own Achievement.

And that's a wrap. Thank you for checking out the blog for this week's entry, see you next time :)

[Entry #004] // August 31st, 2025 – September 13th, 2025 - The One With (Almost) No Playtime
I figured that I would play a lot less in September since I started my new dual study / job thing, but I didn't expect it to be this bad. While I wasn't working 24/7, there was a lot of organizational work involved in getting everything set up in regards to my job, so I basically only got time/energy to play on 3 days, which got me a total of about 8 hours. As you can imagine, 8 hours is not gonna be enough to complete games for most of these entries, and that is the case for Entry #4 as well, which becomes the first one where I can't present you a completion. I am pretty close to one though, and might actually complete the game later today. In general, I should now be able to get closer to the 2 hours of playtime a day that I would like to achieve, since I am set-up and have a good routine going, so I hope to have a lot more achievements unlocked by next time.
On another note, does HLTB have an issue with bots? My post has 11.8k views after 6 entries, so something must be wrong with how it is counted.

Unfortunately, I have nothing to present in this section this time. :(

Well, two of the three games I presented last time (Fallout: New Vegas, Super Meat Boy), saw no action in the last two weeks. For Fallout New Vegas, I think I'm probably not gonna start it yet since it's kind of annoying to try to mod it on my laptop, so I'd rather play something that I can install and play right out of the gate for the time being. For Super Meat Boy, I am gonna have pretty rough exam periods every few months for the next few years, so I don't see a time where I would want to expose myself to the suffering.
That said, there are two games I would like to highlight, which I did play in the past two weeks.

RESIDENT EVIL 2
Playtime so far: 23.3 hours
Achievement Progress: 27/44
I got two Achievements in this game since last time. I've decided to first focus on the extra modes. I've done the 4th Survivor mode, which was pretty tough but fun to figure out. Then I had to do three other extra modes with increasing difficulty in order to unlock the final one, where you need to kill 100 enemies in the gas station. Didn't attempt this one yet. I only get on my PC on weekends, so next weekend will be where I try to beat this. It should also help me unlock another aAchievement for collecting all Mr. Raccoons in the Extra Modes.
The only other Achievement I got was for using a flash bang on a licker, which apparently I had not done in my two playthroughs of the game. Other than that, I have started the B Route with Leon for the first time, which should not take too long and get me a few Achievements as well. This will probably be a multi-week project, but I'm excited for it since I love this game.

AMNESIA: A MACHINE FOR PIGS
Playtime so far: 2.8 hours
Achievement Progress: 3/7
This is a game I have already completed as part of the Amnesia Collection on PS4. I grabbed it recently through one of the key trades I did since it was so cheap, and thought that I could probably knock this one out quickly whilst my memory of playing it was still fresh. Turns out Amnesia does not just apply to the game, since some puzzle solutions have already left my brain.
Another reason why I wanted to play this sooner than later was that some story elements had me confused the first time. Since I knew this time that the game barely has any parts where you are in danger of being spotted by enemies, I am able to focus more on dialogue and the game's story overall. That has made this experience slightly better, but I can't say I enjoy the game this time around either. The story and writing is OK, the cutscenes are kinda weak and the enemy design is more hilarious than frightening. Maybe that's by design. The game does have its moments, especially with its use of music, but the gameplay and some other parts of the game are not as good as the original in my opinion.
All this said, I should be able to get it done later today, as all I need is 3 story related Achievements and one for collecting all notes.

As you might remember, I talk about the games on my wishlist that are releasing in the current month. I do this with every first entry that coincides with that month. In August, I used this space to talk about 6 games. I didn't buy any of them, but I'm glad to see that MGS Delta, Mafia The Old Country, Shinobi Art of Vengeance and Sword of the Sea were all received quite well. Lost Soul Aside seems to be kind of a stinker, but I assume it also has lots to do with the ridiculous price it sells at.
For September, I want to highlight a whooping 7 games. There are some I am very excited about included in this bunch, though none I would say I neeeed to have day one. Some also already released to high critical acclaim.

HELL IS US
Developer: Rogue Factor // Release Date: September 4
When I first saw this, it gave me strong Death Stranding-type vibes. Now I know that it's its own thing and looks really interesting. It reviewed well too, which I am very glad for.

HOLLOW KNIGHT: SILKSONG
Developer: Team Cherry // Release Date: September 4
I tried Hollow Knight a couple times but quit both times. I think a third try will be the charm for me. But since I've not become a Hollow Knight fan yet, I didn't really care for the meme-filled wait that Silksong's release became. That said, I did read about how the devs simply took their time and decided to just not make any announcements until it's ready. That, plus the 20€ price for the game, has me really respect Team Cherry and their attitude. Hope to see the game succeed as much as the first did for them, even if I might bounce off of the original a third time one day.

CRONOS: THE NEW DAWN
Developer: Bloober Team // Release Date: September 5
So glad to see Bloober Team release another critical success. I never really had an opinion about them one way or the other, but the hate they got became kinda annoying after a while, so I'm happy to see that they are becoming a stronger name in the gaming space with Silent Hill 2 and Cronos: The New Dawn. This looks like a really exciting new survival horror IP.

TRAILS IN THE SKY 1ST CHAPTER
Developer: Nihon Falcom // Release Date: September 19
The only Trails game I played. I enjoyed it quite a lot actually, but I never got to play the second one. Now I barely remember anything about the original, so I'll probably get back into the series once I get my hands on this remake. Either way, I'm really glad it was made, since I think it will bring a lot of new people to the series in a way the original just won't anymore.

BABY STEPS
Developer: Maxi Boch, Bennett Foddy, Gabe Cuzzillo // Release Date: September 23
If you haven't heard of this, check it out. It has potential to be the next I Am Bread for Achievement Hunters. Hilarious premise, funny for a while but an absolute torture to 100%. I'd be OK with that.

HADES 2
Developer: Supergiant Games // Release Date: September 25
Absolutely loved the first Hades. Played that on Game Pass and still want to buy it on Steam to go for 100%. In the meantime, I am glad to see that the sequel releases its 1.0 version soon, and I'm sure it will be just as good based on the EA footage.

SILENT HILL F
Developer: NeoBards Entertainment // Release Date: September 25
Obviously very excited about a new Silent Hill game. One of the series I am really happy to see make a comeback.

Not too many games this time.
BIOSHOCK 2 REMASTERED
HLTB: 24 hours
Was surprised to find out that I never actually got this on Steam. I beat it on PS3 back in the day and have it on the Epic Store I believe, but I had to quickly make a trade for it to add it to my Steam collection. Luckily this is very cheap, so it didn't take too much out of my trade pile.
DEVIL MAY CRY 4 SPECIAL EDITION
HLTB: 72 hours
The only Devil May Cry I didn't own. Now I have completed the collection. It's gonna take a while before I get to this, if I really do intent to go through the games chronologically, but I'm glad to own it already, since it was as cheap as it will probably ever be.
RETURN TO MONKEY ISLAND
HLTB: 17 hours
One of two games I got via trade after its price went all the way down following its inclusion in the most recent Humble Choice. I got this and the next game for 2 TF2 keys, which is about 4 euros. I think that's a good deal.
THE PLUCKY SQUIRE
HLTB: 10.5 hours
This is the second of the two games I mentioned that are in the most recent Humble Choice. For me, it was a good bundle, as I got two games off my wishlist for next to nothing. Overall, it was a pretty poor bundle though since the headliners were pretty bad.

A 0.04% improvement in completion percentage!!! Only a full year needed to up it by 1% at this pace! Only 25 years to hit 50%! ... Well, it's an improvement at least. The stats don't look too great otherwise, but as I said, I expect this entry to be an outlier rather than the rule.
CHALLENGE COMPLETIONS
"Overall Challenge" Completions
None
"2025 Challenge" Completions
None
Unsurprisingly, I completed 0 challenges this time.

I only unlocked 5 Achievements in 14 days, but we will still do these Awards since it allows me to talk about the Achievements in a bit more detail. And it's fun to do, so..
HARDEST ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCK

As mentioned, this was the toughest Achievement I unlocked during the past two weeks. It was luckily very fun to attempt, so even though it took me 5 attempts overall, it didn't really feel like I was struggling. And to tell you the truth, I wasn't. It was more about learning the route, optimizing the use of weapons and having enough ammo by the end. My attempt was especially wild because I barely got past some of the enemies and had one magnum round to my name when I faced the final enemy that was firmly in my way as I tried to ascend the stairs. I didn't know what would happen, but I shot it once and it actually got staggered, which allowed me to walk past it and unlock the Achievement.
Even more scary was when I replayed it to get the last Mr. Raccoon I had missed during my successful attempt. It is hidden in a room where Mr. X comes out of, so I have to walk past him and shoot the bobblehead. The most insane thing happened. It took me 10 minutes, but I made it to the part where Mr. X appears. As I walked past him, I got stopped by a random enemy and bitten, which put me at Danger health status. I slowly walked to the door once I freed myself from the enemy, only to have Mr. X stand right behind me and start swinging his arm. A split second before impact, a zombie got inbetween his arm and my face, so Mr. X only struck the zombie, which allowed me to limp my way to the room with the collectible. So yeah, a pretty fun Achievement to go for.
MOST TIME-CONSUMING ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCK

Took me a bit over an hour I would assume. It's been more time consuming to do the three other Extra Modes, but those haven't given me an Achievement yet since I need to do a fourth one, which is the Gas Station challenge which I mentioned previously.
RAREST ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCK

At 24.7% on SteamHunters, this could be considered somewhat rare. Its rarity on Steam is 9.9%.
MOST STYLISH ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCK

Kinda feel dumb for having to put the same Achievement in all 4 slots so far, but the other one I got in RE2 isn't worth mentioning and the three I achieved in Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs is very digusting rather than stylish. Even if it might fit what I'm going for with this Award, I don't know if I want to end this entry on such a revolting note.
BEST-NAMED ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCK

You know what, why don't we just make it 5/5 at this point? Congrats to Grim Reaper for cleaning house!

Not the longest or most exciting entry, but sometimes it is what it is. See you next time!
