Still fun, but definitely Hazelight's weakest game and you can tell it was their freshman effort. You can also tell it ran out of budget near the end, with the multiple chapters of terrible, bland combat encounters. Also still had an awful ending. But still great, shorter co-op fun!

The game was aight. I already knew the ending and so because of that all of the lines made more sense to me. Nothing is particularly flushed out or hard for that matter. Its a neat little game but 30$ for something that took me less than 5 hours to beat and with no real replay value? yeah im glad i didnt have to actaully buy this.

An impressive interactive movie with an unexpected, tragic ending. It was enjoyable to play together, and the mechanics are designed in a way that requires cooperation to progress. A plus for the ability to explore locations a bit and play mini-games. The cutscenes and dialogues are well done. It's a pity there's no Russian voiceover, and the graphics are somewhat underwhelming.

A Way Out is easily one of the most memorable co-op experiences I’ve ever played.

The game is built entirely around two players, and I had the privilege of completing it with a friend—unlocking every single achievement along the way. From start to finish, I loved every bit of it. The co-op design is flawless; whether you’re breaking out of prison, sneaking past guards, or simply passing time with mini-games, every moment feels meaningful because it requires teamwork.

The split-screen mechanic is brilliantly implemented, adding a cinematic feel while keeping both players engaged at all times. The narrative, centered on Vincent and Leo, is gripping and full of twists. Their evolving bond kept us hooked, and by the time we reached the finale, the emotional weight of the story left a lasting impression that few games manage to achieve.

What stood out the most was the variety—stealth missions, car chases, shootouts, puzzles, and even lighthearted activities like darts or baseball. It never felt repetitive, and the pacing was perfect.

Finishing the game with all achievements was more than just a completionist’s badge—it was proof of how engaging and enjoyable every part of the journey was. Even after seeing everything the game has to offer, I can confidently say the experience was worth every moment.

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons.

A Way Out - уже полноценная кооперативная игра, требующая наличия двух игроков.

Вроде бы даже Game of The Year взяла.

A Way Out gets a bump up for its rating in my book just because it's a story driven co-op that works well. Not nearly enough co-op games in this fashion lately. Ultimately though, this is really all A Way Out has going for it - co-op. Everything else just seems a bit generic: graphics, story, etc. It's a game that is easily forgettable, but a hoot while you are playing it with a friend.

I ended up playing this after It Takes Two and that is definitely a much better game than this. However you can definitely see where the building blocks for It Takes Two come from. It’s a good game but it’s more an interactive movie than anything. The story is interesting and if you’ve got a spare few hours and a willing companion, then go for it.

Probably because my brother and I played It Takes Two and Split Fiction BEFORE this (both peak), it made me like this one a bit less and give it less credit. If I played this when it released, I probably would've been more blown away, however it makes me see its faults a bit more clearer now. It's a great stepping stone to those two following games, and shows that Hazelight is an amazing studio that is willing to improve themselves with every game.
I think the beginning and middle of the game have some bits of exciting parts, but then there's some parts that aren't super interesting where's mostly just walking or picking up things or stealth-based tasks. I think it doesn't get super exciting until the last hour or so, then it gets really fun. The ending is obviously the standout part and was easily the part that will stick with me the most. I wasn't super interested in the story, but it might be because I didn't really click with it.
Overall, I'm really glad there's an online co-op I could play with my brother, and we did have fun with it.

the game was good, I waited so many years for a game a single player option, but they didn't. In 2023, I thought they added that feature, but after purchasing the game on Steam and installing it. It was disappointing game has no single-player mode.
After two years of begging my friend at university and getting rejected each time, or getting some nonsense like "oh I played that game, sorry i dont have time " , "sure but my pc is broken sorry " or many exceuses .

AFTER TWO YEARS, I TOLD MYSELF I MUST DO THIS!
4/26/2025
And yeah,h I installed this game today.
not as hard as I thought, except few driving sections. The last motorcycle scene was the most difficult part.
I'm an alone gamer, but I did it and I'm proud of myself.
Iranians have pa roverb "کس نخوارد پشت من جز ناخن انگشت من" i belive that this is pretty much true .

The game was good. Great experience with a few issues I give an 8/10 score for a unique style of gameplay.
Great soundtrack.
vibrant graphic, but (not that powerful like Mafia 2 )
action scenes.
and showing betrayal.

worth my time and effort.

A duo game to play with a friend with a great storyline to come with it. Everything was on point - the music, the graphics, even the little easter-egg near the game's ending.
The game did feel repetitive at some point, with the puzzles being too obvious, too easy, or just recycled. Add to that a few bugs that made us refresh the checkpoint, and you have the lowered score I've given the game.
Nonetheless, still loved playing the game with a friend and experiencing the story with him.

I played through couch co-op and it was a really enjoyable experience for pretty much that reason.

The "gameplay" is pretty bare, mostly QTEs and simpler puzzles until there's more shooting towards the end, but it's there. Visuals are pretty good and it ran well for me. The story is serviceable for most of the game but kind of takes a nosedive at the end and feels like it becomes really forced.

That being said, it didn't overstay its welcome and I got a solid playthrough out of it. +20%, knocked a bit because of the ending.

Story/Characters
We play (and it has to be we – it is an ONLY 2 player game) as Vincent and Leo – two convicts who are introduced to us in present day in a plane (?) who we then flashback to their arrival to jail. They end up next to each other and have a tentative friendship/alliance to break out of prison together. Their past eventually unfolds how they got there, and how they both have a vendetta against a man named Harvey for different reasons.. and the ending was crazy! So, it is revealed that Vincent is an undercover FBI agent placed in jail to befriend Leo to find out Harvey’s whereabouts to “take down” the kingpin. It isn’t really known what Harvey is into besides grand theft of diamond(s)? Perhaps drugs.. but Leo loses it once he finds this out. This eventually leads to a death match where Vincent or Leo must die – and the ensuing endings play out.

Gameplay (controls, battles/combat, menus, worldmap/navigation, puzzles)
3rd person split screen co-op. Similar to It Takes Two (same developer) where one player has to perform actions to then make way for player 2, sort of a “leap frog” type fashion most of the time. The puzzles aren’t too difficult, but it is definitely immersive.

Music/SFX/Voice acting
The “music” is more atmospheric/movie score-esque, but well done. The voice acting is incredible, particularly Leo.

Graphics
Just fine

Difficulty
Not difficult at all, even the action/shooting parts aren’t too tough.

Customization/sidequests/end game content/replay value/trophy set
No real end game content, aside from getting the other ending. The trophies are very easy (you don’t even have to technically finish the game for the platinum).

Is it fun to play? Grindy?
Brilliant playthrough! Lot of fun to play and great story.

Overall
80% - a bit short and definitely have to suspend some disbelief for some of what happens, but overall a great story and playthrough.

An amazing co-op game that uses one of the most basic premises in the history of story-telling.. and it works for the most part. Def a bit rough around the edges in some areas (shooting combat is rough) and it's focus is 1st and foremost on the narrative and telling a good story.. combat is very limited. The devs have come a long way since this game, I would love for them to revisit the type of storyline with what they've learned and provide a more balanced approach.
