It is fantastic. One of the most well put gameplay I ever experienced. It really made DOOM 2016 hard to go back to.It requires some effort because of the many options you have to constantly juggle, but that makes it amazing to master.
No matter what, it stays as a peak game. I don't like FPS games, but DOOM Eternal is much more than that.

This one is a bit difficult for me to rate, and is definitely not the typical game that I play. While I would overall say that I enjoyed my time playing this game, there were occasions where I would find myself asking "am I actually having fun?" after a tough combat section. Finally getting through some of those sections, I felt like the best word to describe the feeling of defeating all demons was more along the lines of "relief," which doesn't necessarily constitute enjoyment. Again, I realize that not everybody (or even most people) feel the same way and that this is coming from someone who doesn't play these types of games that much, but those are my feelings. Overall, I do think I enjoyed it, especially as the game went along and my skills continued to improve. It sure is a frantic game though.

It has a lot of elements that I don't like, yet it brute forces the fun. You could argue this game suffers from mechanics bloat but it somehow balances it through APM. Placing the limitation not on mechanics, but the human reaction. Even the time spent doing the glory kills has the purpose of giving you a second to plan your next move that you desperately need. The crux of it however, is that even with all sorts of enemies and combinations, it feels like I'm doing the same thing over and over. Where it's fun in the moment but remembering it afterwards is like mush. It's "flow state" design where I use all the weapons or tools that cause big enemies to stun and hit weakspots for even more stun. Then the usual weapon combinations to finish them off. Where after all that, do your glory kill inventory management for the millionth time and repeat the loop. All while running around the samey arenas in circles waiting for cooldowns. If there's one thing I truly dislike, it's the music. I'm fine with it in isolation but not how it's used in gameplay.Updated 1 Month Ago

Doom Eternal—A genuine once in a lifetime entertainment experience, if played properly.Developed by id Software and published by Bethesda Softworks, Doom Eternal released in 2020 and in my opinion hasn't aged a single day. Offering gameplay that's faster, bloodier and more brutal than its little brother DOOM 2016 and is a straight upgrade to it's predecessor.
Story: After the story of Doom 2016, where we get betrayed by a certain someone after stopping hell's invasion on Earth. We hop straight back into the story, playing as The DoomSlayer once again and after finding out that the invasion of Hell still happened despite our best efforts—we are tasked with killing some Hell Priests and... I'm not gonna say anymore because those would be spoilers. With Doom Eternal, the story of the Doom universe and The Slayer is more batshit crazy than ever, between him becoming a literal god-slayer and the fact that humans worship him as some deity, the story remains just a backdrop—only existing to hype up The DoomSlayer, you love to see it.
Graphics and Art direction: The Slayer looks great as ever and even all of the demons look better, getting a makeover with more detailed anatomy and higher resolution textures. The art direction has switched from a moody almost scary atmosphere to a more saturated, colourful one that's more in line with the original games. Now the levels... I don't know what combination of crack, LSD, heroina after whatever they are giving to the artists, they need to keep that shit up. I am not exaggerating when I say that some of the levels in this game could be considered genuine art, the same level as the Mona Lisa. Ranging from a corrupted Earth overpowered by the evil of hell to the ancient world of Argent D'Nur, filled with cascading, eroded cathedrals to even the world of an ancient godlike alien species, molded with advanced technology to fit their needs—each a jaw dropping experience for my eyes to be blessed with.
Music: Just like I said with Doom 2016... It's DOOM music, what else is there to say? Hard, ruthless and fast paced—a perfect compliment to The Slayer's crusades. I will mention that there is a lack of that Mick Gordon touch because he had a falling off with id software.
Gameplay and Combat: Oh boy, where do I even start? it's like choosing a favorite between your kids.
Alright, Movement, so much faster, smoother and precise. With dashing replacing the useless crouch feature from Doom 2016, the overall feel and pace of the game is simply better (how did I play Doom 2016 without dashes?). Combat, genuinely surprised that they managed to improve perfection, Doom 2016 felt like everything good about every FPS game combined into one—Doom Eternal somehow upgraded that formula. Exhilaratingly fast with the dashing, the augments, the gun quick-swapping. So brutally fun with the glory kills, demon body destruction, the revised guns. Extremely challenging with hundreds of demons piling on top of you, the addition of the marauder has to be one of the greatest decisions made by any game company. It's fucking beautiful, man.
Doom Eternal is more arcade-y, knows when to take itself serious and when to not. Doesn't dilute it's gameplay with unnecessarily long dialogue and cutscenes. It's shot after shot of dopamine. It doesn't overstay it's welcome and leaves you wanting more. Collectibles are fun and allow you to admire the level design. Only problem I have are with the iffy boss fights and the very few bugs I experienced, like my map not working after alt-tabbing out of the game and one where my fast travel stopped working after reloading a save. If not for those, this would have been an easy 10 out of 10.
Doom Eternal—A great sequel, an even better game—Rip and tear until it is done, until the only thing they fear is you—9.5/10

This game is dopamine manifest.++ Nigh perfect, fast-paced gunplay completely unmatched even by ULTRAKILL.
+ High-skill ceiling mechanics. (weapon swapping, weak points, bhopping, ballista boosting, etc.).
+ Gorgeous levels.
+ Solid level design.
+ Secrets throughout the levels are a nice touch.
+ Good enemy design with a great & clear spread of strengths & weaknesses.
+ Kickass OST.
~ Uninspired difficulties (more HP, more damage enemies).
~ Lots of exploration needed to get all the upgrades
~ Only one actual bossfight in the main game.
~ DLC is by default harder than the main campaign.
- Main campaign & DLC lacks replayability outside of speedrunning.
- Master levels are uninspired
- Not every level has a master level variant
- Multiplayer is dead (always inevitable).
- The ancient Gods part II's boss fight is terrible and bland.
Rip and tear, until it is done.

Returning to Doom Eternal after a few years is like stepping back into a perfectly oiled machine of chaos and precision. Even now, it remains one of the most exhilarating first-person shooters ever made, with its breakneck pace, intense combat, and fluid movement system still holding up against modern titles. From the moment you load into the game, the adrenaline kicks in. The combat loop is as satisfying as ever—balancing health, armor, and ammo through aggressive gameplay feels like second nature, rewarding those who master its mechanics. The enemy variety ensures that no fight ever becomes dull, forcing you to stay on your toes and adapt.
The level design remains top-tier, filled with verticality and hidden secrets that reward exploration. The game’s art direction, with its hellish landscapes and grotesque demons, is still stunning, and the soundtrack by Mick Gordon continues to fuel every battle with pulse-pounding metal. Fast paced chaotic FPS goodness. Almost too chaotic, to the point where it feels like your sweating bullets trying to cope with the sheer amount of enemies the game throws at you especially Marauders and Archviles. Also how the mentality of this Doom is every enemy has their own weakness so you have to swap weapons like a mad man to kill enemies with max efficiency. But still this is really fun although in a more masochist way. Soundtrack and level design is phenomenal. I feel like Max0r described the level design the best as "Sprinting through The Louvre." Really good FPS.Updated 2 Months Ago

An amazing game that makes you feel like the coolest being in the universe. It’s challenging but super satisfying, and once you get the hang of it (which doesn’t take long), it becomes insanely fun to play. Some enemies and levels can get a bit annoying, and honestly, the story didn’t do much for me—it felt like background noise more than anything. But the gameplay more than makes up for it.

A very solid FPS game, taking the formula from the original 2016 version and ramping it up with a ton of more movement. I think I enjoyed the 2016 game more, this one just felt a slight more difficult but not so much in a fun way. Those damn stupid fast shield enemies were super annoying in the last game as they appear next to tons of other enemies and can block every attack unless stunned during a very short window.Still a very solid title in Bethesda's second entry in Doom.

It is weird. I don't know how I feel about this game. There is such a high skill ceiling as well as floor but once you are on the floor the game is great and is a masterwork of progression, level design, enemy design, responsiveness, optimization. This is a game that you can poor your life into and many people have. I don't know if I will play the DLC but having simply beaten the game and gotten all the collectables was enough for me. This game also did what every good sequel should do. Make you never want to play the previous game again. My biggest problem with this game is honestly its art direction. DOOM 2016 looked great and though this game is definetly higher fidelity it is too arcady. I kind of wish they would let you toggle certain things. Like no colored ammo or having bodies attatched to weapons. I understand that it is part of the look it is going for but at times it feels a bit tacky. But when the game is going you must rip and tear until it is done. And you will love it if you can get to the level of skill required to love it. That is what your opinion of this game will be depicted by for a large number of people. Were you able to reach the skill floor. If not then it is gonna be very hard for you to like this game. If you were however this game is a masterwork.Updated 3 Months Ago

Ok, mám nápad, co splácnout DOOM I, II, III, pocukrovat to DOOM 2016 a líznout si lajnu koksu, či něčeho podobného. 666https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?vanity=GameArchiveofAngelDerring&set=a.122113622330899186

Doom Eternal is different than the first in a lot of ways. The combat is a bit more difficult and more random. Certain weapons are still relied on but not as much as the original as you really do need to use everything. I will say that there are times where this can be annoying but at a certain point as long as you have certain upgrades equipped to get more health/ armor the game is doable. I just wish you didn’t have to rely on those things all the time as it can become annoying. The sequel did a lot of things right but I think it also lost a bit of the grit the original had. The 2016 version flat out had better music and really felt like a well-rounded complete game. The sequel adds a lot of things that don’t so much take away from the game but make it seem more cartoony and overall feels a bit less impactful. It’s still a solid play but not as good as the 2016 version.

I once gave this game a short try on xbox and didn’t enjoy playing it with a controller - that’s actually a good thing, because it’s much better on PC. It’s great that we get not only a singleplayer mode but also a robust multiplayer with account progression and leveling, even through completing campaign missions. In the campaign itself, I really like the ship that serves as the main hub and hideout. You progress from there and there’s a lot to unlock and discover on the ship itself, which adds a nice twist. The graphics are distinctive - I get the impression that models look blurry from a distance and only sharpen up when I get closer, as if they’re loading in. It’s weird, even if it’s intentional.
The story, as before, is completely irrelevant to me - frankly, it’s just weak, but that doesn’t matter because I’m here for the carnage. The 2016 Doom had a better visual style, but this one arguably has a slightly better (though still weak) story and more interesting enemy types. The way the map is navigated with the mouse is really odd and unintuitive - you have to get used to it. I already didn’t like the map system in the first game, and that hasn’t changed.
I definitely enjoyed the greater variety of finishers, even for basic enemies. The weapons are similar to before, but there are also some interesting new ones. The soundtrack is solid and the destruction sound effects are slightly better than in the first game. Character progression includes additional skill trees and while some weapons feel familiar, the new ones are cool. That said, the HUD is a bit cluttered and hard to read.
The locations are fantastically designed. They’re still quite linear, but the open spaces and platforming elements worked well for me. I also liked the environmental puzzles. There's a noticeable improvement in movement mechanics - dodging, jumping - which makes the game more arcade-like and adds more gameplay features. I thought this game is harder because of that in addition to quick combat.
I was pleasantly surprised by the ability to play as a demon for a second and shoot while flying - that was awesome and we need more of that in next parts. It’s also nice that they added a new suit that protects you from toxicity. A fun addition are the collectible cheat codes that let you replay missions in different ways.
The final boss was very challenging - I really broke a sweat - but it was a satisfying and dynamic fight. Just great. Overall throughout the whole game, the gameplay was more interesting than in the first one, and that’s the most important thing in Doom. Still, because of a few of the issues I mentioned, the final score is the same as for the first game – it was simply good. I didn’t feel that constant urge to keep playing like I do with truly outstanding titles – I’d just drop in for an hour or two to kill some time... and demons.
In the end, I think it’s a solid game. It maintained the level of quality from the first one. In terms of scale and scope, it was better, but it lacked the atmosphere first part had. So the rating is the same as for the first game. I hope the third part will stand out more from the previous ones.

The DOOM reboot continues where it left off in 2016—and Eternal goes even harder. It’s like the developers knew exactly how I felt. Where DOOM (2016) was all about run-and-gun, dip-and-weave action, Eternal cranks up the intensity with what the devs call “Push Forward Combat.” That philosophy shines through in every encounter. The Slayer now commands a full arsenal—not just weapons, but blinks, double dashes, multiple grenade types, the greatest hookshot of all time, and nearly unlimited glory kills and brutal chainsaw executions. Every tool feels designed to keep you moving, thinking, and killing without pause.
Replaying it on my updated PC after a few years away was like a breath of fresh, demon-scorched air. The visuals absolutely pop—from the gory, apocalyptic hellscapes on Earth to the surreal alien worlds you visit, this is one of the most visually striking and well-designed story-driven FPS games I’ve ever played.
Now diving into the DLCs on such a high note, I’m reminded why DOOM Eternal stands tall as one of the genre’s all-time greats.
